Book 6: Chapter 29:2: 8 vs. 4 with the Referee on Our Side, How Could We Lose? Part 2

The Holy Grail Carnival took place in an independent space specially created by the Holy Grail, where the beach volleyball battles of these 14 Servants left the beach smoky and pitted with craters.

Furthermore, the Servants had used their best skills since the ball was a Noble Phantasm reinforced by the Holy Grail, able to carry various powers like Jeanne d’Arc’s cursed flames, King Hassan’s instant-death skill, and the buffs for the teams. The most frequently used personal skill was Mana Burst.

[TL Note: Here is more information on King Hassan’s instant-death skill, At the Boundary: /wiki/At_The_Boundary. Here is more information on Mana Burst; do note there are various subtypes, and you can see more by clicking on the links within this page: /wiki/Mana_Burst. I cannot find a cursed flame skill for either Jeanne d’Arc or Jeanne d’Arc Alter, but it could be an application of her Noble Phantasm, La Grondement Du Haine: Roar, Rage of Mine. Thus, this round of beach volleyball turned into a battle of gods, with the most outrageous skill combination being the instant-death effect coordinated by King Hassan and Ryougi Shiki.

During this Holy Grail Carnival, no Servant would die during the match. If one died accidentally, they would be revived outside the field.

This meant that Chen Heng’s team, the black team, could potentially knock down a Servant with a lucky hit. However, reality showed that Chen Heng’s team wasn’t that lucky, only managing to take down Diarmuid.

It proved that E-ranked Luck was indeed E-ranked Luck, something that could never change in a lifetime.

Thus, Chen Heng gradually lost himself to the allure of the female participants, unable to extricate himself. It wasn’t until the proctor announced that there were only 15 minutes left to hand in the papers that Chen Heng realized he hadn’t filled in his answer sheet.

This time, Chen Heng obediently waited until the time was up and the teacher personally collected his college entrance exam paper.

As Chen Heng stepped out of the examination hall, he saw his senior sister Cheng Lixue standing next to Jiang Cheng.

Since Cheng Lixue had the leisure to pick him up from the exam center, her operation must have gone smoothly.

Alright, actually, Chen Heng had long known what Cheng Lixue would experience and that she would come to pick him up.

“Let’s go.”

“Alright.”

The conversation between the senior sister and junior brother was concise and to the point, with absolutely no superfluous words.

After Chen Heng got into the car, he noticed someone already seated in the back.

It was Rita Rossweisse, one of the three S-ranked Valkyries, specifically tasked with elimination missions. She was the deputy leader of the strongest Valkyrie squad, the Immortal Blades, which was led by Squad Leader Bianka Durandal Ataegina.

“Senior Sister, this is…one of the Immortal Blades’ Valkyries, Rita, right? She is very famous.” Chen Heng was extremely curious about why this person was there. He had known that Cheng Lixue would come to pick him up because he had been afraid she would get into trouble and had used his Absolute Precognition to check. However, he stopped watching when he saw her leave to fetch him.

“Yes. You’re Madam Fu Hua’s second disciple, Chen Heng, right?” Rita Rossweisse recognized Chen Heng instantly. Since she was coming with Cheng Lixue and given her character, this wasn’t a surprise; Rita Rossweisse likely did her homework on people related to Cheng Lixue. Even without any prior research, Rita Rossweisse knew a bit about Chen Heng.

After all, Fu Hua was the most formidable Valkyrie, deeply admired by those in the know, and the only Valkyrie who could completely disregard orders from Schicksal’s Overseer Otto.

By becoming Fu Hua’s second disciple, Chen Heng had made waves within the Schicksal Valkyrie circle, even catching the attention of Overseer Otto.

However, when Otto tried to investigate Chen Heng, he met resistance from one of China’s most influential hidden-world factions, the Ji Clan.

Rumor had it that Chen Heng was the son of the Ji Clan’s most cherished daughter, making him the direct nephew of the current clan leader.

Such people were not to be offended; Otto could not afford to.

Overseer Otto, being the highest authority in Schicksal, had extensive knowledge of the hidden world, unlike the low-ranked Valkyries.

Overseer Otto was also one of the Western church’s nominal bishops. Naturally, he understood the might of the Ji Clan.

Hence, he not only stopped his investigation but also suppressed the matter.

“Yes. Hello!” Chen Heng greeted Rita Rossweisse in a friendly manner, extending his right hand.

“It’s an honor to meet you.”

As Cheng Lixue drove the car to the market, Chen Heng struck up a casual conversation. “Senior Sister, how did you and Miss Rita meet?”

“Haven’t I told you? I met her on a mission. After I captured the target, Rita took over.”

“Huh? So if Rita is responsible for the target, shouldn’t she be watching him?”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Chen Heng. We have the target under tight surveillance. He’s secure, and nothing can go wrong.”

“Is he now? We’ll see.” Seeing Rita Rossweisse’s face brimming with confidence, Chen Heng smirked but did not offer any rebuttal.

“Mister Chen Heng, you—”

Before Rita Rossweisse could finish, her phone interrupted her. After a glance at the caller ID, her confident expression shifted to one of concern when she saw it came from one of her squad members.

The voice on the other end said urgently, “Deputy Squad Leader, the target’s escaped again! You need to come over right away!”

“…Got it. I’m on my way. Miss Cheng Lixue, I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Could you drop me off at our base?”

“Sure.”

“Senior Sister, just drop me off here. I’ll shop and head home by myself. Master and I will prepare dinner and wait for you.”

“Alright.” Cheng Lixue nodded and pulled over at the roadside to let Chen Heng off.

“Mister Chen Heng, I’m truly sorry for troubling you with having to walk back.”

“It’s fine. You two handle your business.”

“Junior Brother, remember to tell Master I might not make it back in time for dinner.”

“Don’t worry. Senior Sister, you will be back for sure. Isn’t it a piece of cake for two powerful Valkyries to catch a fleeing target?”

Chen Heng stood at the roadside, waving as he watched Cheng Lixue drive off into the distance.

Chen Heng could not help using his cheat to see the storyline again. The target’s escape attempt was just an exercise in futility. With Cheng Lixue and Rita Rossweisse around, Chen Heng did not need to say anything. That would prevent Rita Rossweisse from noticing anything off.

Chen Heng intended to buy some premium ingredients and wait for his senior sister to return for dinner.

“What should I cook tonight? That’s the real question.” Chen Heng pondered the question of the century as he walked to the market.

When Chen Heng arrived at the market, he still had not figured out the answer, so he decisively used his cheat to see the storyline.

This was how to use the Absolute Precognition!
