Book 5: Chapter 4: The Robbed Ancestor

“Ancestor, if you destroy the world consciousness, will it affect this world? Although this world consciousness deserves death, this world is innocent.” Chen Heng worried about this, as he had never encountered a world consciousness being killed before and did not know the consequences.

If one did not know, one should ask, especially when it was a major matter concerning his world.

“That’s right. Chen Clan Transcender, if you simply kill the world consciousness, the world will not be far from crumbling. We should discuss how to deal with this world consciousness.” Root Shiki seemed to have thought of something and quickly played along.

Root Shiki would not dare speak her mind alone, but she had no issues with going with the flow.

“Shut up! This is the Chen Clan’s internal affair. It is not your place to speak.” When speaking to his descendant, Chen Xiu was all smiles and sweetness but was harsh towards the world consciousness.

“Ah…” Actually, Root Shiki wanted to say she was a Chen Clan descendant in name. However, she feared jabbing his wounds lest he go berserk and chop her down.

“Ancestor, if the world lacks a world consciousness, are the consequences that dire?”

“Yes, indeed. However, Chen`er, you don’t have to worry. Don’t we have a ready-made world consciousness at the side?” After speaking, Chen Xiu glanced at Root Shiki.

“Ah! No! You can’t do that! It is rare for me to get to sneak out and be lazy…I mean, it is rare to get a break! Furthermore, most importantly, I am currently damaged and cannot take on this responsibility; I am incapable of doing so.” Root Shiki did not expect herself to get implicated. How was she to push this away? Furthermore, she did not want to take on that work.

The Type-Moon worlds’ world consciousness wanted to laze around, so it first pushed the responsibility to Root Shiki (herself), then used the breaking of a parallel world to run with Ryougi Shiki, who was deeply connected to her. In the process, she gave a portion of the management rights to Gaia and Alaya. I have not gotten much rest yet, and you want me to be the world consciousness again? I won’t do it!

[TL Note: I’m not too sure what’s going on with the above bit, but I’m guessing Root Shiki is an aspect of the world consciousness that manifested in Ryougi Shiki as an alternate personality. In this case, it would not be wrong to say that Root Shiki is the world consciousness and that the original world consciousness had dumped all the work on Root Shiki.]

“Shut up. Don’t speak if I do not tell you to speak. If you are damaged, isn’t there an intact world origin before you? Just swallow it!” Chen Xiu pointed to the half-dead world consciousness.

“That’s not good, right? Furthermore, destroying a world consciousness is a major crime.” Root Shiki struggled in a roundabout manner. She would not dare to reject him directly. After all, there was an intact world consciousness before her that had gotten beaten half-dead without being able to say anything. Furthermore, she only brought a portion of her strength into this world.

Root Shiki had come for a holiday, not to fight. Naturally, she would not bring everything she had. Furthermore, if she did, what would her original world do? Without Root, those Magi would go mad.

“Shut up! I—Chen Xiu—have done so much for your Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference, saved so many worlds, yet this is how you treat my descendants? While it was this world consciousness’s fault, your conference is also at fault. In the end, besides this world consciousness having a problem, your Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference is also negligent!”

When mentioning this, Chen Xiu grew even angrier.

Actually, Root Shiki had heard of the Chen Clan’s transcender, Chen Xiu, before. This person had a stellar reputation in the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference, having helped several world consciousnesses.

As the leader of the faction supporting the world consciousnesses, he had helped the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference solve many problems. Among the many transcenders, he had made outstanding contributions.

At least half of the other transcenders focused on cultivating in the Purple Firmament Palace, ignoring the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference.

That was why this mess gave the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference a tremendous headache.

They wanted to stop Chen Xiu but could not completely do so, as he had helped them a lot. Furthermore, he was the leader of the faction supporting the world consciousness. If they stopped him, they would lose the support of the transcenders of that faction—which would greatly damage the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference’s combat strength.

Sometimes, the world consciousnesses could not personally handle things, and neither could the executors they nurtured. During such times, they needed to ask these transcenders for help. Every transcender counted, and they all owed luck to their world consciousness.

However, not every transcender had descendants. Some were bachelors without descendants, unlike Chen Xiu, so they did not need to worry about luck. Furthermore, transcenders did not need luck, so such transcenders could completely ignore the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference.

Some transcenders would help a little, then ignore the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference after repaying their luck debt. Their descendants would have to rely on their own efforts and opportunities.

The remaining one-third was the so-called world consciousness faction. The transcenders of this faction would frequently help the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference, acting on its behalf.

They would do all they could to accumulate luck for their descendants. While Chen Xiu was not the one who helped the most, he was among the strongest in this faction.

The Purple Firmament Palace was outside the worlds, so time did not affect it. Rather, once one left a world, there was no concept of time. One would not be affected by time in the dimensional sea. The world consciousnesses decided the flow of time in the independent worlds.

From Chen Xiu’s perspective, he had not spent much time in the Purple Firmament Palace. After he became a transcender, he frequently helped the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference. This was his first time returning home to visit. However, he found his descendants nearly destroyed upon returning home.

Furthermore, he discovered that the luck he had accumulated had not been given to his descendants but scattered throughout the world to raise the world’s upper limit of combat prowess. This pushed this world from a high-martial world to a supreme-martial world.

As for his descendants, the ancestral crystal he made had been snatched away during the previous generation, and the clan head of that generation had been poisoned to death along with the previous-generation clan head’s wife. Fortunately, a time ability user had self-detonated their time crystal core, saving the life of his last descendant. If not, the Chen Clan would have gone extinct.

“About that…can we really not discuss letting this world consciousness go?” Root Shiki continued struggling.

“You can—as long as you can shoulder the consequences.” Root Shiki initially felt happy upon hearing the front part. However, she immediately gave up upon hearing the latter bit.
