Book 4: Chapter 63:2: Romance Fortuneteller, Specializing in Breakups, Part 2

Faillen Angel Gabriel: …What agitated you?

He Who Knows Fate: Nothing. I just thought of Mother of Mifune.

I Have a Strong Presence: But Mother of Mifune helps couples in love avoid breakups. You are breaking them up.

He Who Knows Fate: I just feel that being in a relationship is not good for middle-school and high-school students’ studies. This is the resentment of a powerful high-school student.

Kal’tsit: He Who Knows Fate’s worldview on love might be somewhat strange.

He Who Knows Fate: Why is it strange? I have always firmly believed in a saying.

Iron Fist Teacher: What saying?

He Who Knows Fate: The wise do not step into the river of love.

17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: …I recall a line following that saying should be “meeting you makes it hard to be wise.” I’ve heard it before.

[TL Note: The entire saying is: The wise do not step into the river of love; the stupid fall in willingly. Meeting you makes it hard to be wise; I am willing to be stupid.]

He Who Knows Fate: Huh? There’s more to it? I didn’t know that.

Efreet: Whoever ends up in a relationship with you or falls in love with you will be extremely unlucky.

Achoo! N number of people sneezed, but it might be zero. Erm…who knows how many there were? Furthermore, whether there were any was still in question.

[TL Note: The above is a reference to a trope where people sneeze when someone talks bad about them.]

He Who Knows Fate: Would you like me to livestream?

Efreet: This…

Although Itsuka Kotori said such actions were bad, she strangely wanted to watch.

17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: Do it, then. I want to see how you crush relationships.

He Who Knows Fate: Very well. I’ll start the livestream after arriving. For the sake of letting destiny lead, I will not use the Absolute Precognition before I reach that park.

Chen Heng had already donned the Daoist outfit he had purchased from the association’s store. These robes were even more exquisite than what he saw others wearing when they set up fortunetelling stalls.

His attire consisted of a white robe over a dark azure gown with a Taiji diagram on the chest. Because Chen Heng bought a simplified version, his Daoist outfit had only these two articles; there was no inner shirt.

The more Chen Heng looked at this Daoist outfit, the more he found them familiar.

After thinking for a while, Chen Heng finally recalled. This Daoist outfit resembled the one worn by the main character of The Legend of Sword and Fairy 4. It seemed to be called the Tianshi Daoist Robes.

[TL Note: The Legend of Sword and Fairy 4 is a Chinese game available on steam and also in English. Here is the Wikipedia entry about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Sword_and_Fairy_4. Here’s an image of what these robes look like: /a/bGqz2ip.]

No matter what, it did look quite good.

Of course, Chen Heng had even nicer robes from one of the Chen Clan’s ancestors, who had abandoned the sword and followed the path of Daoism.

Furthermore, that ancestor even joined the Tianshi Sect. That ancestor learned Daoism extremely quickly, showing exceptional talent. Unfortunately, he died not long after he started learning.

After he died, the Tianshi Sect sent back his Daoist robes and some things that ancestor had left behind. Among which was the Chen Clan’s ancestral necklace.

Fortunately, someone sent those items back. Otherwise, the Chen Clan’s inheritance would have been cut off at that generation.

Although those Daoist robes looked extremely smart, only the true inheritors of the Tianshi Sect had the right to wear them. They were the real deal, the kind that could ward off evil.

Chen Heng would never dare wear those robes to set up a fortunetelling stall even if he were ten times bolder, much less when he was advising people to break up.

The Chen Clan’s ancestral teachings were rigorous. Maybe because of their single line of descent for dozens of generations, all the Chen Clan children would learn the Chen Clan’s ancestral teachings and spirit from the moment they could understand words. This resulted in every generation of the Chen Clan being unusually respectful of their ancestors.

This Chen Clan ancestor who gave up the sword and cultivated Daoism was an odd one, but Chen Heng felt he was the odd one out of all the odd ones. That was not to say Chen Heng was odd for using abilities. There were Chen Clan ancestors who used both abilities and cultivated the sword. However, Chen Heng was the only one not to have stepped onto the path of cultivation.

“Liz, Skadi, what do you think? Does it look good?”

“You looked quite good in that.” Nightingale found that Chen Heng looked surprisingly handsome in his Daoist robes.

“It does not look practical for combat.” This was Skadi’s evaluation.

“I’m asking you to evaluate its appearance. Also, who says this is not practical for fighting? Back at home, the powerful people wear this kind of clothes. It’s just that their combat method is different from what you imagine.”

“I see. A different way of fighting?”

“…” Skadi’s focus is always strangely different from others.

“Then I’ll go first. Bye-bye!”

“Be careful on your way. Remember to bring supper back.”

“Got it, Liz.”

After leaving the hotel, Chen Heng strode to that nearby park.

Then he found a relatively remote corner before taking everything out.

First was the Daoist outfit; he was already wearing that. Next was a table covered in yellow cloth and two stools. After that were a set of Tarot cards, a container of wooden lots, and a crystal ball. He even had a banner with the words “Romance Consultant” behind him.

This was the divination set worth one point. The combined items guaranteed customer satisfaction. However, it did not feel very reliable.

Then Chen Heng carried the table, with the crystal ball, Tarot cards, the wooden lots, and two stools piled on top, as he walked.

As he moved the table, people watched him. After all, his outfit was very eye-catching.

Chen Heng only placed the items down when he found a more suitable place, farther away from the main flow of pedestrians.

The place he picked had little traffic, but most importantly, he would not block the way.

After setting up the stall, he sat on the stool and waited patiently for the first customer. At the same time, he started the livestream.

Efreet: How many couples do you think He Who Knows Fate will break up today?

17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: Although this does not sound nice, I feel that with such a powerful tool like Precognition, any relationship will be doomed if they dare to believe Chen Heng’s words.
