Book 4: Chapter 50: Sarkaz Captain

The most important thing was that Chen Heng could not use force this time. He did not know what would happen if he used force. What if he wiped out Nightingale’s recent memories?

Not only might he fail to treat Nightingale, but if he wiped Nightingale’s memories and Shining knew, she would also strangle him.

“Nightingale…” Chen Heng called Nightingale’s name again. Then he suddenly recalled Nightingale’s real name was Liz. Nightingale should just be a codename. Perhaps she was not yet called Nightingale now.

“Liz! Liz, answer me!”

It worked. Chen Heng saw Nightingale move when he called her name. Then she raised her head and looked at him.

After Liz raised her head, Chen Heng immediately met her hollow gaze. There were bruises on her face, and she looked very pale.

“Who are…you?”

“Me? You don’t remember me? I’m He Who Knows Fate.”

“He Who Knows Fate? I don’t remember you. Do I know you?”

“You don’t know me now, but you know me in the future. I am a time traveler. I came from the future to save you.” In any case, Nightingale had no memories of the future, so he started getting creative.

“Then you’d better go back. You cannot save me. This is a battlefield,” Nightingale said in the cage, hugging her legs with her hands and resting her chin on her knees in a typical posture of insecurity.

“Don’t worry. I will rescue you and bring you to safety. I am very strong.”

“It’s useless. Just give up. The battlefield is just above this underground prison. Even if you escape this underground prison, you cannot escape the battlefield.” Nightingale looked like she had given up all thoughts of resisting.

“You need to trust me. Just hand me the key in your hand. I can bring you out after I open the cage trapping you in this prison. Also, look at the six Sarkaz soldiers. I subdued them very easily.” Chen Heng pointed at the key in Nightingale’s hand and then gestured towards the six Sarkaz soldiers he had bound and was holding upside-down.

“It is just six. There are countless Sarkaz soldiers outside. They will not let me go.”

Chen Heng was very patient. He intended to continue verbally convincing Nightingale. He had time. The time in a heart maze was different from outside; the speed of thoughts was much faster than reality.

Actually, even if Chen Heng could not deal with the heart maze, he could leave and get help from the all-powerful association store. However, he would not be satisfied with that.

Just as Chen Heng wanted to continue convincing her, footsteps came from the corner behind him. Based on the sound, the source of the sounds would soon appear. It sounded like there were many people.

“A, B, C, D…why are the six of you taking so long?” A coarse voice rang out as a larger-than-average Sarkaz soldier appeared around the corner.

This person immediately saw the six Sarkaz soldiers hanging upside-down and the soldier on the stretcher dead.

“Be careful! A person from another race infiltrated the underground fortress! Who are you?! Why did you appear in the underground fortress?”

The Sarkaz soldier who was probably the leader issued commands, and ten-odd Sarkaz soldiers followed him around the corner. These Sarkaz were tall and burly, showing ferocious expressions. When they saw Chen Heng, they immediately pointed their weapons at him.

Chen Heng initially thought that these NPCs of the heart maze could not speak. Did they evolve?

“Will you believe me if I said I was just passing by?”

“Captain, this person suddenly appeared in the underground fortress. I suspect he is a spy from the other races. He is here to deal with our secret weapon!” One of the six soldiers hanging upside-down suddenly spoke.

Is the secret weapon he’s referring to Nightingale?

“Damn! Weren’t you mute? Why didn’t you say something earlier?” Chen Heng now suspected Nightingale had given the heart maze a buff, or rather, installed a verbal communication DLC.

“That seems to be the case. I wonder how the other races found out about this secret weapon. It does not matter. Everyone, attack! Capture this spy from the other races first!” The Sarkaz captain waved his hand, and the soldiers behind him swarmed towards Chen Heng.

This time, Chen Heng did not use any ability. Instead, he charged forward to clash head-on barehanded.

As wooden prison cells lined the two sides, the soldiers had little room to rush over and could only charge over in rows. This meant Chen Heng did not have to deal with all ten-odd in one go.

As the first soldier reached Chen Heng, he swung a large sword at Chen Heng. Chen Heng lowered his body and lunged at the soldier’s chest.

“Iron Mountain Smash!” Bang! After the loud report, Chen Heng shoved that soldier into the oncoming soldiers and snatched away the weapon in this soldier’s hand.

Although Chen Heng was from a sword immortal clan, he could not convert his martial arts to cultivation. He could only continue tempering himself as a martial artist. In modern times, the sword was a restricted weapon, so he had learned a few fist techniques. The Eight Extremes Fist Technique was one of them.

When Chen Heng gained a sword, it meant it was time for the battle to end.

Half a minute later, that captain saw his subordinates all lying on the ground, moaning. Now, he felt a distinct lack of confidence.

“Who are you? Are you from Yan? This battle is an internal conflict of the Sarkaz. Why are the Yan people interfering? If you stop now, I can spare you. The battlefield is right outside. You cannot escape.”

Although the captain spoke fiercely, Chen Heng could tell he was bluffing.

Chen Heng did not answer him. Instead, he carried his sword and walked over.

“What are you doing? Don’t come over…I’ll fight you!” He was indeed a Sarkaz. He turned aggressive the moment there was a disagreement. Although he felt terrified earlier, he did not shrink back when it was time to fight.

However, victory did not depend on bravado.

“You see? Liz, I’m very strong, right? Hand me the key in your hands. I’ll bring you out.”

“No. I feel what the captain said makes sense. I suspect you are here to kill me.” Nightingale still did not give the key to Chen Heng when she heard him. She even moved back a little.
