Book 4: Chapter 14: High Roller, Let’s Be Friends

Faillen Angel Gabriel: Going by a game’s parlance, more specifically Fate/Grand Order’s, he has an A+-ranked close combat ability but insists on using a B-ranked sniping ability to fight.

Lord of the White Night: I suddenly discovered that He Who Knows Fate rarely acts according to normal conventions.

He Who Knows Fate: Thank you for your praise. I’m going to stop here, as I’m about to arrive. Although I purchased firearm proficiency in the association’s store, I have only ever shot a gun once, during that test. I want to try a submachine gun. As for bullets, Reincarnator 9527 had plenty in his storage space, enough to fight World War 2.

17-Year-Old Beautiful Young Lady: That’s quite normal. I have read some novels concerning reincarnators. Under normal circumstances, weaker reincarnators would rely on firearms to survive.

He Who Knows Fate: It is not just that. This reincarnator’s portable storage space even has a miniature bullet production line, which should not be cheap. Furthermore, there are bullets for all sorts of models.

Iron Fist Teacher: Why didn’t that reincarnator use those?

Queen of Ice and Snow: Wasn’t it already said? Reincarnators usually use firearms in their early stages. Using such things against Chen Heng and Heroic Spirits is simply seeking humiliation. He might as well directly use his electromagnetic ability to fire a few Railguns, as that would be more practical.

He Who Knows Fate: That’s hard to say. At least Reincarnator 9527 had a powerful sniper rifle, rather, sniper cannon. It is quite powerful, but it is of no threat to me.

He Who Knows Fate: Alright, I’ve arrived at the range, so I’m going offline.

Efreet: Bye!

Chen Heng arrived at the Sniper training grounds and discovered a few Snipers training there. The one that caught his attention the most was a red-haired Lateran training with a firearm. There was also a young, dog-eared ?) woman standing at the side.

Why could Chen Heng tell the redhead was a Lateran? Her halo was conspicuous.

This Sniper was rather skilled, hitting practically all the moving targets. However, she seemed miserly with her bullets.

She used a Vector submachine gun but fired single shots. That firing mode killed the joy of using a submachine gun. A submachine gun should be set on rapid fire, emptying the magazine in one go. That was how one should use a submachine gun.

[TL Note: The Vector submachine gun mentioned is likely referring to the KRISS Vector, an American-made submachine gun. Here is the Wikipedia entry on the KRISS Vector: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KRISS_Vector.]

Looking at the Sniper’s training ground, Chen Heng could tell few Snipers wielded firearms. Most used bows or crossbows.

No, I can’t hold back anymore. The targets are right before me! Chen Heng could no longer contain his intense passion for firearms.

Chen Heng walked to an unoccupied target lane and took out a Vector submachine gun from his spatial storage. Then, he closed his eyes, focused, opened his eyes, and fired…Chen Heng emptied the magazine in less than two minutes.

The Vector submachine gun was famous for its rapid fire. If one did not release the trigger, the bullets would just vanish. Its firing rate could reach 1,200 rounds per minute. If one did not pay attention, one would run out of ammunition.

However, it did not matter. Chen Heng had enough of such bullets to supply his usage. All he sought was the thrill. Furthermore, he was quite accurate, with every shot hitting the target. This was all thanks to the firearm proficiency costing 1,000 points.

Three minutes later, Chen Heng finished firing close to a thousand bullets. Then he let out a satisfied sigh. Only now did he notice the entire training ground had fallen silent. Everyone looked at him.

“Hey, why are you all watching me train? What’s wrong? Have you never seen a Sniper train with firearms?”

We have seen people train with firearms, but we have never seen anyone train like you. Does your family own a mine? All the Snipers present thought this. Of course, they did not voice it.

However, now that Chen Heng had stopped, the other Snipers shifted their focus back to training. Only the redhead, who used the same weapon model as Chen Heng, walked over with the younger woman at the side.

“High roller, let’s be friends!” Chen Heng initially thought that red-haired woman wanted to compete in firearms. Unexpectedly, she spoke so materialistically the moment she opened her mouth.

Huh?! Although Chen Heng knew he was charming and attractive, he did not expect to be this attractive. To think a beautiful woman would hit on him when he practiced at the range!

Chen Heng now appeared aloof and slightly discourteous as he thought about how to reply.

The dog-eared ?) woman beside the red-haired girl answered for Chen Heng before he could. She used her strong fist to hammer the red-haired girl’s head, producing a loud thud. “Ouch!” Just the sound of it made him flinch.

“Texas, what are you doing? It hurts, alright?” It did look painful.

“Exusiai, suddenly hitting on someone like you did will trouble them. Do you know that?”

[TL Note: Here are Texas’s and Exusiai’s profiles: /wiki/Texas/Story and /wiki/Exusiai/Story.]

“I’m just being frank, alright? So, high roller, want to be friends with me?” Exusiai still had not given up.

“…Why are you calling me a high roller?”

“Are you joking? Given that you fired close to a thousand bullets in a few minutes, I would believe it if you said your family owns an Originium mine. If you are not a high roller, can you do such a thing?” Exusiai answered Chen Heng’s question very directly.

“Sorry, erm…” Texas glanced at Chen Heng’s staff pass and saw his code name. “Mister He Who Knows Fate, Exusiai has always been very carefree. If she caused you any trouble, please forgive her.”

“Not at all. I only formally joined Rhodes Island today. I’m glad to make a few friends.” Chen Heng did not mind. After all, two pretty women coming to hit on him proved his attractiveness.

“We are Penguin Logistics members, here temporarily, as we just concluded a transaction with Rhodes Island.” Texas assumed Chen Heng thought them to be Rhodes Island staff, so she kindly informed him.

“I was wondering why you weren’t wearing staff passes. So, you are not from Rhodes Island. Isn’t that better? I can make a few more friends. By the way, where is Penguin Logistics located?” Chen Heng did not mind which faction the two came from. Rather, he felt even happier that the two were not from Rhodes Island.

[TL Note: Penguin Logistics is a logistics company usually dealing in deliveries. Like Rhodes Island, it also dabbles in other areas. Here is more information on Penguin Logistics: /wiki/Penguin_Logistics.]

Chen Heng did not plan on staying on Rhodes Island the whole time he was in this world. That would be boring. Now that he had traveled to another world, it would be a waste not to go around.

“Lungmen.”

“Lungmen is great. I was planning on visiting when I had time.”
