(POV: Rerek)

The year 2019, earth; International finance tower, Chicago.

The sky was tar-black and the large clouds were hovering above me producing thunderous booms, after a short moment of silence water droplets poured from the sky.

On the helipad of the tallest finance tower in Chicago, I was bent on my knees, unable to move a single part of my body except for the neck region. I looked at the front to see a man standing while holding a black metal pole with golden inscriptions on it as a weapon. Several copies of the same weapon penetrated my abdomen.

Seeing the person with distinctive features of red and blue eyes, I gaped into his eyes and said, "You killed all my people and now you're going to do the same to me just because the world deemed me as evil", I paused and shouted, "When all I was doing was rectifying this accursed world, Kael".

Hearing my shout filled with agony, a tremendous grin appeared on his face as he said, "You just don't get it, do you?", he paused and added, "I never cared about you being evil, I never cared about you having unfeasible goals, and I would never care, even if you massacre everyone, it's just that you put your hands on my friend, the moment you did so, the outcome was already decided, Rerek".

"Even though the last one left, you are still a Hashirae huh", I said and tried to laugh but blood spewed out of my mouth.

"Kael", I said as stared at him intently.

"If there is a next life for someone like me, then I will face you with valorousness, not with cowardice, face to face not with schemes, as the virtue of chaos not like an accursed being", I declared as my life force was being drained out of me.

"I'll remember you, Kael", and with those last words, I fell to the ground and lost the light in my eyes while all he did was watch my pitiful appearance.

I was unconscious for an immeasurable amount of time, it felt like eternities have passed but at the same time not. I could think but at the same time not, feel but at the same time not. I knew that I existed but at the same was not sure of my existence. Everything around me was black but suddenly I sensed myself forming a connection with a physical body.

After what felt like hours passed, I found out that the body I was trying to form a connection with already had a soul in addition to that, the vessel was not capable enough to contain my soul. So I suppressed my soul force as much as I could and merged it with the soul force of the body. By doing so, I gained control over it and also the memories of the person I inhabited.

I gained information about the world I was in from the soul force of the previous owner or soul. He was a third-year student of Cypress academy which dealt in training cadets for fighting devils. He was handsome, a playboy, rich, strong according to academy standards and also the son of the president of Russia, his name was Adam Ivanov.

This world was similar to my previous one in the era of the 90s, except for the involvement of devils and every auror here being extremely weak. This world's strongest human wasn't even a match for me in my adolescence.

For several days I acted as he used to do, the guy also had a big crush on the vice president of the student council, Aline Petrov. Since she was not that bad, I changed my approach towards her, and honestly, I didn't even need to do that, just by being who I really am, I was able to form a. connection with her.

My easygoing behaviour changed when the entrance examination for the first years approached. I sensed soul puppets in shadows lingering around the academy, and I was familiar with them. Those are the shadows that Kael used to investigate someone and accomplish minor deals. They were hard to notice, and in my previous life, they gave me a really hard time. Someone who has not seen the shadow standing right in front of him, cannot notice it no matter what.

And as expected, I saw his name on the ranking list of the entrance exam. A typical first ranker, Kael Hashirae. No one can have the same name as his, that was one of the blessings he received when he was born.

Since then I acted the usual way, ignoring his presence, but now I was standing on the podium, giving a speech for the entrance ceremony which was originally written by Alina. Kael was sitting in the first row of chairs in the auditorium, he looked a lot younger and was holding the hand of a red-haired girl sitting beside him. Then he used his soul eye, and I could see his left eye turn red, and a huge grin appeared on his as he muttered, "This is gonna be fun".
