Chapter 31: Greasy Technique

The gray dwarves were attacking the Dragon Tooth Village!

With the help of the abstruse Vertical Cloud Steps, Roger stood on one leg on top of a tree, trying to see as much as he could.

There were fires everywhere with thick, dark smoke and the commotion disrupting the peace of the village.

He could see that there were a huge amount of gray dwarves that were rushing towards the gates of the Dragon Tooth Village.

The gate that was already old and weakened soon collapsed into pieces as the gray dwarves knocked against it multiple times.

On the towers at the gate.

There were villages who were shooting arrows and throwing rocks at the dwarves, and quite a number of them were actually killed by the villages.

However, this was useless like trying to put out a fire with a cup of water.

There were too many of them!

Roger roughly estimated that there were about 600 gray dwarves who were attacking the gates of the Dragon Tooth Village.

But the scary thing was that this wasn’t all.

Roger also noticed that on both sides of the village, there were two other troops of gray dwarves who were prepared to attack as well.

In terms of its location, the Dragon Tooth Village was already on the highest ground on Yellow Stone Island.

The northern, southern, and western parts of the village were actually surrounded by mountains and were protected by them.

However, these mountains were not steep enough as there were mountains on the marshland. They wouldn’t be as tall and steep as the normal mountains.

From where he was, Roger saw that the gray dwarves prepared ropes, nails and other climbing equipment. They even had a long line of weapons that were covered by a black waterproof cloth.

“Did the gray dwarves have to go this far...”

Roger shook his head.

There were about 2000 gray dwarves that were involved in the attack on Dragon Tooth Village.

2000 gray dwarves was an extremely terrifying number.

Even if they stood still for Roger to kill them, he still wouldn’t be able to kill each and every one of them.

If the Dragon Tooth Village didn’t have any extraordinary measure, there was nothing much that Roger could do.

The best that he could offer was to offer help from the sidelines. There was nothing he could do to change the fate of the village.

At this exact moment.

From the dense forest next to Lettuce Avenue, another group of gray dwarves appeared.

This group was different from their companions who were knocking down the gates with their own body.

Amongst this group of gray dwarves, he saw a weapon that was similar to a construction vehicle!

Roger became speechless.

At the same time, he was also curious as to what was in the village that caused the gray dwarves to cause such an uproar?

“Forget it, I’ll just kill as much as I can.”

Roger jumped down from the tree and started his chase.

...

On one of the slopes on the western part of the village.

There was a troop of gray dwarves who was shielding each other as they advanced forward.

This part of the mountain was entirely covered by slimy moss, and there were multiple streams flowing downwards which made it extremely difficult to advance.

There were some who fell and ended up being stepped on by their companions who were coming from the back.

Fortunately, these gray dwarves were tough. If it was any other race, this would have killed a lot of them.

The dwarves who were trampled cursed angrily.

However, as their leader glared at them, they immediately kept quiet.

All of a sudden, a strong magic wave came from the mountain and it landed next to one of the cars.

Before any one of the gray dwarves could react, there was oil that fell from the sky and immediately covered each and every gray dwarf!

Following that were all sorts of screaming and shouting.

Along with the oil that was still drizzling on top of them, most of them couldn’t help but fall onto the ground.

There were at least twenty of them who fell off the mountain because of this incident.

This caused a chain reaction and all of its companions who were behind them suffered from the consequences.

In an instant, this group of dwarves was in chaos.

These magical creatures were already very ill-tempered and now they got even more heated.

As most of them were covered in greasy oil, a lot of them were pushing each other around and they ended up wrestling each other!

The leader screamed at them, but it couldn’t stop the chaotic scene that was happening in front of them.

The oil continued spreading.

In some part of the mountain.

Roger removed his hidden status and heartbrokenly threw out the scroll for the [Greasy Technique] that was already useless at this point.

Magical scrolls that did not require magic guidance was extremely rare; even the Corpse Demon only had three.

Then, Roger lit up a cotton arrowhead.

...

Shush! Shush! Shush!

Roger let out three arrows continuously and each of them landed at different areas that completely surrounded the dwarves.

Hu! Hu! Hu!

With the help of the wind, the fire started burning vigorously.

The troop of gray dwarves started screaming in pain.

The asphalt and grease from the greasy technique were the best fuel to the burning flame.

Soon.

The fire that started out of nowhere had already killed about twenty of them!

And the fire was still burning!

There were more and more gray dwarves who were killed by the fire, and the scene became incredibly haywire.

After the attack, Roger decided to leave, but as he was running away, he couldn’t help but turn around.

...

Then, he noticed that the huge vehicle that was covered before this had now revealed its true form.

It was a ballista!

“Sh*t!” Chills ran down his spine.

They even had a ballista here for the war and there were more than one!

‘What are the gray dwarves trying to do?’

‘Are they planning to slay dragons?’

Just as this thought popped into his head, a loud, piercing moan came from the gates of the Dragon Tooth Village.

The moan was bright yet solemn just like thunder that hit the ground and pierced right into Roger’s heart.

His four limbs that were running even paused for a second.

“It really is a dragon.”

Roger was stunned as he looked in the direction where the sound came from.

He looked at the tower near the gates of the Dragon Tooth Village.

A small green dragon was stretching out its neck while giving out another loud cry.

It had an extremely long neck. As it stretched out both its wings, they were like two sea-green screens with scales that were glistening in the dark.

“Is that a young dragon?”

“The color… A green dragon?”

Although this was his first time seeing a real dragon, it was something that he had already expected which was why he quickly recovered from the shock.

This dragon was very different from the large creatures that Roger had imagined as it was extremely small in size.

But it still managed to spark fear amongst the gray dwarves.

However, it was as if the dwarves had an adrenaline rush and they became even more active.

As this was happening at the gates, on the northern and western part of the village, the gray dwarves had already removed the waterproof cloth which revealed a long line of ballistae that were a meter tall.

Under the gray dwarves’ control, the ballista was slowly aimed towards the young dragon.

...

The young dragon roared in anger and its jaw began to move involuntarily as it started bulging.

After a while, it burst out its first dragon flame at the dwarves who were at the gate.

As the emerald dragon flame swept across them, a whole lot of dwarves immediately turned into ashes.

This was the most beautiful dragon breath that Roger had ever seen!

As for those who were close to it, although they didn’t die, they had already lost the ability to fight.

Roger suppressed his desire of picking up those heads and went back to the mountains on the western side.

Now that he had found out about the secret of the Dragon Tooth Village.

The gray dwarves might have had conflicts with the dragon race, but at this moment, there was only one young dragon protecting the village.

The grey dwarves somehow must have found out about it which explained why they prepared these huge ballistae!

As for the ballista on the northern side, it was beyond Roger’s reach.

But as long as he got rid of the ballista that was on the western side, it would lessen the burden of the young dragon.

“I never thought that a green dragon would be so beautiful.”

Roger felt that he was fooled by those fantasy novels. From what he remembered, most of the green dragons were evil and ugly.

Then, he subconsciously looked at its attribute bar.

...

[Emerald Dragon (young dragon) LV 21???] **

...

“Sh*t.”

“I’m the one who’s uneducated.”

Roger, who felt humiliated, released his anger on the gray dwarves.

...

*Author’s note: Emerald Dragon is a type of jewel dragon, born curious and suspicious. The dragon breath of the Emerald Dragon has an ultrasonic effect, but this one has been slightly modified.
