Chapter 24: Gray Dwarves

Dragon Tooth Village.

In a house that was completely covered by greenery and it?was also completely surrounded by people with worried faces.

An old woman’s voice came from within. “Slowly, slowly.”

“Don’t let her bleed too quickly, god knows if there are any neurotoxins on it.”

This was an old woman with a head full of thin braids.

Roger noticed that at the end of each braid, there would be different types of leaves attached to it.

Along with her command, a?few youngsters clumsily placed the wounded on top of a huge bed.

“Please put pressure over here, I have to take care of the other wounds first… You… that’s not how you should do it!”

“Can’t I get someone with some sort of ingenuity?”

When she saw that one of the youngsters caused a bloody fountain while pressing onto the wound, the old woman began to complain.

“Let me do it.”

A warm voice appeared amongst the crowd.

Roger gently pushed away the confused young man that was completely covered with blood . Then, he picked up a bandage and quickly did some first aid for the wound.

“You look unfamiliar to me. Why haven’t I met you in the village?”

The old woman slowly calmed down.

“I am a traveller. I’ve been waiting outside the village for Master Rachel.”

Roger told the truth as it was.

“Oh, you’re that outsider who single handedly annihilated the entire Jackal Monsters Settlement.”

The old woman walked towards him as she held onto a bunch of jars that smelled rotten.

“Do you have knowledge about medicines?”

Roger shook his head and said, “I only know a little bit about herbs.”

The old woman nodded her head and replied,

“Well, you’re still better than these useless people.”

“Help me put pressure on that, I’ll deal with these arrowheads first.”

“As for the rest of you, get out!”

“This is not the place for entertainment!”

As the others stared at each other with embarrassment, they slowly walked out of the house that was covered with herbal scent.

...

Soon after.

With Roger’s help, the old woman finally managed to remove all the arrowheads that were on Rachel’s body.

This caused Rachel to bleed quite a lot.

Which was why she ended up being unconscious.

The only good thing about this was that all the four arrows were located on her shoulder, waist, back, and arms. None of them injured a deadly spot.

There was also no poison on the arrowheads.

With the permission from the old woman, Roger gave Rachel a few Basic Hemostatic Ointments.

For the small amount of experience that Roger had, this trick would have a miraculous effect on these wounds.

Since he would be needing help from her, he would have to do something in return as well.

After dressing the wounds, he even stayed and talked with the old woman.

He was with her until she started yawning due to exhaustion and that’s when he bid farewell and left.

...

Because of this interlude, Roger decided to temporary pause his hunt for the Reze Whale.

As he walked around the Dragon Tooth Village, he felt the change in the atmosphere.

Rachel’s encounter sparked fear amongst the villagers.

The tranquil and peaceful environment of the Dragon Tooth Village was getting replaced by a sense of anxiety.

But these emotions didn’t really affect Roger.

He just subconsciously hated risk and troubles.

“Judging Rachel’s condition now, even if she wakes up, she may not be able to fly the dragons anytime soon.”

“I wonder if there’s any other way to cross the southern part of the great wetlands.”

As Roger placed both his hands behind his head, he started planning ahead.

After spending some time on the Yellow Stone Island, he had already obtained all the information that he needed.

The southern part of the great wetlands was the most dangerous area!

There were lakes and swamps everywhere and with the vigorous current and lurking monsters, it really was a place that no one should enter.

Barging into that zone would definitely mean death.

As of now, only Rachel’s flying dragon would be able to bring him across that dangerous area.

...

This was also what Roger was worried about.

If Rachel was injured this badly even under the protection of the Flying Dragons, it would mean that the one that attacked her would most probably be an experienced army troop!

“Eric said that the Dragon Tooth Village has been living in harmony for the past decades, would they be having a war now because I’m here?”

“It isn’t because of me right? Is it?”

Roger felt even more pissed as he thought about it.

...

In the evening.

Cindy found Roger and told him the good news that Rachel was awake.

Roger immediately followed her to the house.

Inside the house.

The old woman was nowhere to be seen.

...

Rachel, who was lying on the bed, already seemed much better.

Roger was amazed by her recovery abilities.

When she was unconscious before this, Roger had already analyzed her.

The profession of this petite woman in front of him was actually Marshland Druid and not a taming master.

This was a rare profession which was why no one else in the village had this profession.

This also meant that she must have had some peculiar encounter before this.

“I heard from Angelina that you’re the one who saved me.”

The girl on the sick bed said seriously.

Just like her figure, Rachel’s face was also extremely small.

Perhaps it was because she had been antisocial all the while, even with her beautiful facial features, it felt like something was missing.

Roger shook his head and said, “I didn’t do much.”

“These ointments were very helpful. I can feel the difference. Thank you.”

Although she was saying thank you, there weren’t many changes to her facial expression.

If it wasn’t because Roger was sure that he didn’t have any hearing problems..

He thought that her facial expression was similar to someone telling him — when will you be returning the money that you owe me?

As expected from a taming master who had been away from human civilization.

Roger knew that the only thing that he could do now was smile.

“I heard that you wanted to head north?”

Rachel asked.

“Yes.”

Roger nodded in response.

“I wouldn’t be able to fly them now, but Misha knows the way. She’s the head of the flying dragons. I’ll get her to send you to Paramount Estate and then just prepare some food for her after. When she’s done, she’ll fly back by herself.”

Rachel replied smoothly.

Roger couldn’t help but be stunned.

It was this easy?

Didn’t they say that Rachel’s request would be even more difficult…..

Roger jumped and realized that he was fooled by Cindy.

This woman had been telling the truth about everything except for this one thing.

Then, the dragon priest who was sitting by the bed started complaining, “Why can’t you just lie?”

Rachel kept a straight face, but her tone sounded a little timid.

“I can’t lie.”

“My flying dragon express has always been free.”

“Plus, he did help me.”

Cindy immediately glared at Rachel.

Both of them seemed to be quite close to each other because a look of guilt flashed across Rachel’s face.

Roger immediately felt that the atmosphere was getting strange.

He interrupted and said, “I really appreciate it.”

“If there’s anything that I can do to help, please tell me...”

Cindy suddenly jumped and said, “Help us kill Humphrey!”

Roger coughed and replied, “I’ll definitely do that next time.”

The dragon priest was so pissed that her chest was moving up and down dramatically. It was quite a shocking scene.

“By the way, what happened to you? How did this happen?”

Since he already got what he needed, Roger thought that he should at least ask how Rachel got injured.

“It’s the gray dwarves.”

Rachel explained,

“Humphrey has already colluded with the gray dwarves. All these are the arrows of the gray dwarves that Humphrey’s men shot at me and my flying dragon.”

“I saw where they were coming from and they’re already very close to the Yellow Stone Island.”

“They’re definitely coming for the Dragon Tooth Village.”

“Leaving now is a smart choice. Soon, this place would be the new warzone.”

“How about this? Tomorrow, I’ll get… Forget it. Help me up. I’ll look for Misha now and get you out of this place.”

Even before she could finish the sentence, Rachel had already tried to sit up on her own.
