Ye Zhen smiled. “If you genuinely feel that Ye Qing’s endorsement has value, why not have her agent directly contact Lu Corporation? If there’s really value in her endorsing something and she’s someone that’s wanted by everyone, I’m sure that Beichuan’s employees won’t fail to see that. After all, won’t she feel more confident and righteous if she gets an endorsement through her own merits than by walking through the back door? That way, she won’t have to bend her waist when she sees other people or have to hear people gossiping behind her. What do you think?”
“You...” Mother Ye wanted to speak, but Father Ye interrupted her, “Yes, that’s right. Zhenzhen is right. Qingqing won’t have justice on her side if she doesn’t get the endorsement through her own merits. You know that people in the entertainment industry are very talkative, and they love to gossip. Furious, Father Ye retorted, “How is that the same thing? How can you compare these two separate issues?”
“How is it any different? Why can’t I compare them?”
“I worry about the company solely for the sake of supporting our family. But Ye Qing? Other than asking you for money, has she said anything else to you lately? Every time you call her, have any of those calls lasted past five minutes? How have you raised our daughter? You spoiled her so much. Look at what our daughter has become like!”
Ye Zhen had been quietly listening on the side. Bored of listening to their conversation, she pressed the call button on the bed. It didn’t take long for a nurse to knock on the door before pushing the door open. The sound of Father Ye and Mother Ye quarreling abruptly ended.
“Mrs. Lu, can I help you with something?”
Ye Zhen rubbed the spot between her brows. “I’m a bit tired. I want to rest for a bit. Please send my parents out.”
Seeing that Ye Zhen was boldly kicking them out before they finished talking, Father Ye and Mother Ye couldn’t help the ugly expressions that appeared on their faces. They had come all the way here and hadn’t gotten anything yet. How could they be willing to leave like this?
However, Ye Zhen didn’t even look at them again before closing her eyes and lying down to rest. They had no choice but to follow the nurse out.
In the hallway, they met Lu Beichuan on his way back.
Father Ye beamed and hastily approached him. “Beichuan ah, Zhenzhen is resting now. You shouldn’t go inside. You might disturb her from her rest. How about we go find a quiet place to talk?”
Lu Beichuan expressionlessly looked at his beaming father-in-law and coldly asked, “What is it?”
His attitude said to hurry up with speaking.
Father Ye’s smile stiffened. It took awhile for him to smile again as he said, “It’s like this, do you remember the investment opportunity that I’ve been telling you about? I wouldn’t ask you to invest if I wasn’t 100% sure there would be profit to make. We’re one family. If there’s money to make, we should earn it together.”
“How much money are you short by?
Father Ye smiled. “Not much. Only 20 million in total. I have about 10 million, and I just need another 10 million.”
Lu Beichuan couldn’t hide his impatience. “For a small project of 20 million, go talk to my investment manager. If he thinks it’s okay, he’ll report the situation to me.”
After saying that, he lifted up his foot and started walking away.
