Guessing at Identity

Mo Hongyi’s guesses so far had been godly players from ‘Grand Desolation’.

Seven-foot-sword Immortal had been the guild master of the number one guild ‘All Under Heaven’. He possessed extraordinary strength that definitely could have earned him a place in the top ten.

As for Wandering Drunken Scholar, he had been acknowledged as the most mysterious and individually strongest player in ‘Grand Desolation’.

No one had ever known his whereabouts, nor did they know what skills he had. All that was known was that in the only tournament he had entered, the ‘Sage’s Veneration’ tournament, he had entered the finals with a perfect record and had defeated his opponent in one minute.

Mo Hongyi’s guesses were all the best of the best players, and while Meng Jingtian could also have been considered a ‘godly player’ in the game he had played before, he was far from the level of players that Mo Hongyi was guessing.

“Doesn’t that make this first mission of Godslayer Hall’s even more interesting?” Cheng Xiaojin’s eyes brightened as he proposed, “Why don’t we make a bet? Let’s see if Godslayer Hall’s first mission in ‘Tomorrow’ will fail or not!”

“Count me in! I’m betting that Godslayer Hall has picked the wrong target this time. It will definitely fail!” Cai Minghou almost instantly replied.

Meng Jingtian slapped his forehead and bitterly smiled. Bai Wensheng had essentially made him famous.

“Enough! Everyone’s here, so stop making trouble! Let’s go and do the mission!” The last member finally arrived, so Meng Jingtian silenced these potential gamblers.

“Fine, fine, fine! Everyone is listening to you, boss! As the number one on the rankings, isn’t this mission just a little trifle to you?” Cheng Xiaojin seemed to have taken to heart Cai Minghou’s praise, and his eyes seemed to be glowing as he stared at Meng Jingtian.

“It can’t be considered a little trifle. A medium trifle, maybe!” Meng Jingtian joked.

It was just a game, though. If one really believed in the fawning praise of others, then one had fallen too deep into the game and would face a total loss. freew(e)bnovel

With two clowns in the party, the mood was rather light, and the group soon arrived at Cool Breeze Camp.

Cool Breeze Camp Sentry Bandit (Lvl. 25):

HP: 1300

Skills: Cross Cut, Vertical Slash, Autumn Winds Sweeping Leaves

Several bandits wearing black clothes wandered in front of the camp. Although they were just human-shaped monsters, they still had 80+ Friendliness to Meng Jingtian and would not attack him—though he didn’t know what would happen once he started attacking them.

“Holy shit! No way? The mobs are all Level 25. What sort of screwed-up mission is this?” Cheng Xiaojin was immediately scared away by the stats on the mobs and didn’t dare to recklessly charge forward.

“One mob already has one hundred and thirty thousand HP. Are you sure that this is a mission we can do?” Mo Hongyi asked Meng Jingtian grimly.

“We can do this! We have so many people!” Meng Jingtian firmly nodded and then asked, “Do we have a tank?”

There was nothing to be done. They had to do this mission no matter what, or else Cai Minghou would have to delete his account and start a new one.

“Me…” Cheng Xiaojin quietly raised a hand and uneasily asked, “Boss Meng, are you really sure about this?”

“Of course!” Meng Jingtian confidently declared. “If you can’t tank it, I’ll compensate you with a purple equipment. Is that good with you?”

“Really? Then I’m going!” Hearing this, Cheng Xiaojin excitedly charged forward.

With these words from Meng Jingtian, what did he have to hesitate about? All of his current equipment added together couldn’t pay for a single purple equipment. This deal was way too good for him!

“This fool!” Helpless, Mo Hongyi could only follow.

Meng Jingtian pulled back the enthusiastic Cai Minghou and teased, “Second Young Master, you just wait here!”

“Why?” Cai Minghou was somewhat unwilling. He wanted to test out the Tsunami Trident Meng Jingtian had just given him!

“Who told you to be only Level 12? What if a mob wipes you in a single skill? You’re the core member of this mission!” Meng Jingtian said, narrowing his eyes.

“I get it! I’d better not run into that scoundrel who locked me up in that little room, or else I’ll hack at him one hundred times!” Cai Minghou unwillingly said, the corner of his mouth twitching.

Meng Jingtian chuckled, but he soon heard Cheng Xiaojin’s cry for help. “The damage is so high! Holy shit! Holy shit! I can’t hold!”

He immediately disregarded Cai Minghou and used Divine Recovery on Cheng Xiaojin.

“Eh? Full HP? What’s going on?” A startled Cheng Xiaojin stared at his suddenly full HP bar in disbelief.

“Boss Meng! Are… are you a healer?” Cheng Xiaojin cried out in shock as he flipped through the combat log.

I’ll heal your grandmother!

” Meng Jingtian rolled his eyes and used a Divine Punishment on a mob.

“-15000” The defense of a mob was far weaker than a player’s, and Meng Jingtian’s skill instantly sliced a large chunk of HP off the mob, which had already been ground down to half health.

“Holy… This damage!” Cheng Xiaojin was rendered speechless. So Meng Jingtian probably just couldn’t tank, right? Or why else would he need all these other group members?!

There were only a few bandit sentries, and after a few minutes, they were all wiped out. They dropped two blue equipment items, one of them being a head accessory.

Meng Jingtian had no interest in blue equipment, so he let the rest of the group roll for it.

“Just who are you, to reach this level in the game so early? Wind Weeper?” Mo Hongyi was still set on guessing at Meng Jingtian’s ‘true identity’.

“I already said that I wasn’t any of them. Why don’t I try and guess who you are instead?” Meng Jingtian replied as he continued forward.

“The Sanguine Lady of the Thirteen Flowers of the Ode to Beauty guild?”

Mo Hongyi paused, a look of shock in her eyes. No way! How had he guessed it?!

“Really? I got it?” Meng Jingtian was also taken aback by this reaction.

And then he laughed.

In truth, there was nothing too surprising about it. Although the Sanguine Lady wasn’t that famous, not a top-class player like Seven-foot-sword Immortal or the Wandering Drunken Scholar, Meng Jingtian had once interacted with her in ‘Grand Desolation’.

The thought of it made him squint and mentally sigh.

In truth, this was also due to that woman, his former ‘wife’ in ‘Grand Desolation’.

She had also been a member of the Ode to Beauty guild’s Thirteen Flowers, the ‘White Lady’.

“No way! You’re going to tell me who you are today! How were you able to guess it in one try? That’s unfair!” Mo Hongyi ran up ahead and spread out her arms to block Meng Jingtian’s path.

“Are you throwing a tantrum? If you are, I might consider it. I’ve never even heard of the Sanguine Lady throwing a tantrum for a man before!” Meng Jingtian folded his arms and laughed.

“I… Screw you!” After a moment of shock, Mo Hongyi gnashed her teeth and glared at Meng Jingtian. “You’re not this or that, or anything! In my view, you just got really lucky to reach number one, and the Godslayer Hall will punish you eventually!”

  • For some reason, the Chinese internet slang for a healer in an MMORPG is ‘奶’, which can be shorthand for both milk and for grandmother, hence this joke about ‘healing your grandmother’.
