Chapter 66

Chapter 66. Something Like A Lover

I don’t know how long we held and kissed each other.

When our lips parted either of ours, Kodachi-san looked shyly up at me and asked me something like this.

“I’m sorry ……. After all, was it the smell of alcohol?”

“What ……? No, I didn’t even think about that. It felt good anyway.”

“Wow! You say such embarrassing things a lot, don’t you, Musou-san?

“Oh? I didn’t mean it like that.”

“I’m glad, even if it’s ……. I’m glad we feel the same way. Thank you.”

“Uh, oh, yes. Thank you, too.”

We’re both slurring our words.

Why are we hugging and kissing and both thanking each other? Is this normal?

“Um, Musou-san. Can I call you by your name Daichi-kun?”

“Ha, yes. I should call you Kazane-san too?”

“Oh, please don’t ask me that.”

“Oh, ……, I’m sorry. ….. Kazane-san.”

“…… yes, Daichi-kun.”

Kodachi-san’s cheeks turned bright red, and she showed a bashful expression.

She hugged me tightly again, and I hugged her back.

After a while of doing so, I finally began to notice the eyes of the people walking around us.

It’s not the thing you do in the middle of a public street like this.

“Shall we move the place?”

“Yes, we should. But where do you want to go?”

She asked me that, and my mind quickly conjured up a place with a pink background and onomatopoeic “wah-oh” sounds.

No, no, no, no. Wait, wait, wait, calm down.

As I was shaking my head, Kazane-san, who was looking at me curiously, chuckled.

“How about some wine at an Italian restaurant for the masses while you eat a variety of food?”

“Yes, that sounds good. ─ ─ By the way, Kazane-san, you’re not drunk now, are you? You’re okay, right?”

“Ahahahaha, well, actually, I can control my tension to some extent when I’m drunk with a beer. It’s not that I’m not drunk, but I wonder if I can decide whether or not to surrender to the tension when I’m drunk. Like being able to do it? I can take responsibility. Ehem.”

“Well, is that, everything you’ve done so far?”

“Well, do you want to hear that now? ……It can’t be helped, can it? It’s Daichi-kun’s fault, you know? I’ve been giving you the OK sign for a long time, but you haven’t attacked me.”

“I’m sorry!”

“Haha. But it’s ok. I had fun after all, and I’m still having fun.”

Kazane-san and I went into one of those chain Italian restaurants everyone loves.

We were seated across from each other, and as we asked for our order…

I asked Kazane-san a question that I had been wondering about for a long time.

But, Kazane-san, why did you like me so …… much? I don’t know if I should say this, but I’m not good at anything. I think there must be someone more suitable for you, Kazane-san.”

Kazane-san then turned her cold eyes on me.

“Daichi-kun, that’s no good. I’m sorry, but I can’t allow that.”

“What, ……?”

“‘Me?’ That makes it sound like I didn’t look at Daichi-kun enough to fall in love with you, doesn’t it?”

“Oh, no, I didn’t mean it like that.”

“Even if you didn’t mean it that way, it’s not okay. From now on, ‘I don’t care about you’ is forbidden. Do you understand?”

“…… Yes. I’m sorry.”

“Good. …… you know, Daichi-kun, you have a lot of good things about you. You’re kind, considerate, sincere, tolerant of my faults, and a little cute. Above all, you’re fun to be with.”

“Ah, ah, …….”

“Oh, I’m embarrassed. That’s what I’m talking about.”

Kazane-san, sitting in front of me, giggles and pokes me on the cheek with her fingertips.

Oh no, she’s playing with me.

“From the first time we met and ate ramen together, I thought you were nice and comfortable. So I guess we are on the same wavelength.”

“Wavelength ……”

“Daichi-kun, are you on the same wavelength as me? If you say we don’t match, I’ll be so shocked I’ll fall asleep, so please tell me we do.”

“Oh, ……. No, I do match you.”

“Hahahaha. That’s the thing, that’s the thing…”

The next thing, a glass of wine was being served in front of Kazane-san, and she was sipping on it.

Come to think of it, this was her 2nd drink after the beer at the previous restaurant.

I’ve heard that playing chanpon makes you get drunk faster.

Kazane-san holds that wine glass in her hand and offers it to me.

“Why don’t you have a little drink, Daichi-kun? It’s an indirect kiss.”

“Ugh. ……. No, it wasn’t indirect, to begin with. We did plenty of it earlier.”

“Wow. ……. I’m going to talk about something embarrassing, Daichi-kun.”

“I don’t understand your standard of embarrassment, Kazane-san. I’ve been embarrassed for a while now.”

“What a coincidence. I’ve been embarrassed and nervous for a long time. I’ve been embarrassed and nervous all the time.”

“Were you playing the shame game?”

“Yes, I was.”

We spend some time together, talking about this and that.

By the time we left the restaurant, Kazane and I had a fair amount to drink.

Flustered, I hold Kazane-san by the shoulders as we walk through the night.

Kazane-san gently leaned in close to me, and we were like lovers.

Not something like a lover, but a lover?

Well, whatever.

After that, I spent the night with Kazane-san, feeling bewildered by my first experience with her.

And the next morning.
