Chapter 192

Chapter 192. Group Battle

“Rage forth, dark thunder—[Dark Thunder].”

A basketball-sized sphere of darkness was born in front of the outstretched hand of a dark elf girl.

Immediately after, it was launched towards a horde of monsters.

The fast-flying sphere of darkness reached about three meters above the ground, directly above a corner of the monster horde, and burst there, raining down black lightning bolts.

Countless black lightning bolts struck the monsters below, inflicting damage as they went.

As a result of this attack, 3 out of the 6 monsters within the range of the magical attack disappeared, turning into magic stones.

The 3 that disappeared were all Flame Skulls.

On the other hand, the three remaining monsters within the magical attack range were all Hellhounds.

“So, they won’t go down in one hit, huh? Well, they’re quite troublesome dogs.”

Yusefia, who had cast the magic, seemed slightly dissatisfied with the outcome.

There are different ways to interpret this result.

One could view it as even a level 75 high-level awakened hero, one of the 8 Heroes, struggling against such formidable opponents as Hellhounds.

Either way, Yusefia’s ability assessment isn’t the main issue.

“Yuzuki, can you finish off the Hellhounds?”

“No problem. Those three are already on their last legs—though just in case, [Explosion]!”

“Alright then. I’ll take care of the others—[Stone Shower]!”

Following Yusefia, Yuzuki and I cast our area-of-effect magic simultaneously.

Yuzuki’s fire magic engulfed the 3 Hellhounds so that Yusefia couldn’t finish them off, turning all 3 into magic stones.

On the other hand, I was using a newly unveiled magic for the first time.

I released my magical power, targeting 5 monsters clustered in a different direction from where Yusefia and Yuzuki had attacked.

Immediately after, countless pebbles appeared above the heads of the five targeted monsters and rained down like a storm.

With a clattering sound, the pebbles struck all five monsters.

Unfortunately, my attack alone didn’t defeat any of the five monsters.

But it certainly had to have dealt some damage… I hope.

“Yuzuki, check the damage!”

“Okay! —But more importantly, senpai, incoming enemy attacks!”

Slightly delayed compared to our magic attacks, sporadic fireballs flew from the monster horde.

Even slightly faster than that, 3 Hellhounds were rushing toward us.

The 3 monsters, with their large size and agility, quickly closed our distance between, and just as we thought they were about to reach us, they stopped a few steps in front of us and simultaneously exhaled flames from their mouths.

The flames spread over a wide area, enveloping all of us.

Both fireballs and the flames were difficult to avoid, and we took them head-on.

But…

“Hmph, it doesn’t affect us, you bunch of weaklings.”

“Argh, we’re… not getting hurt either.”

Among us, Yuzuki, Griffin, Yusefia, and me several attacks hit.

But it seemed that only Griffin and I had taken damage.

It must be the difference in magic defense.

By the way, Yuzuki used to take some damage from Flame Skulls’ fireballs before, but this time, I think it’s because of the Anti-Magic Ring I bought before heading to the Dragon Valley.

There might have been some level-up effect too.

Although Flame Skulls are one thing, I wonder if Hellhounds’ fire breath has a similar power.

In my opinion, hellhounds are a step above Flame Skulls in power.

Since it’s an area-of-effect attack, maybe the individual power isn’t that significant.

The damage that Griffin and I took from it isn’t severe either.

Of course, it could become problematic if we got hit by such attacks repeatedly.

“Here’s a return gift, you damn dogs—[Dark Thunder].”

“We’re returning the favor too—[Explosion]!”

“You guys aren’t taking any damage, right!? [Stone Shower]!”

In reality, these monster onslaughts don’t last long.

We aren’t just standing here taking hits.

With the additional magic attacks from Yusefia, Yuzuki, and me, we eliminate numerous monsters, including the 3 Hellhounds right in front of us.

With the assistance of the Dwarf warriors’ attacks, the initially swarming monsters rapidly decreased.

Once it gets to this point, it’s just a matter of finishing the job.

With our pincer attack alongside the Dwarf warriors, we turn the monsters into magic stones one after another until we finally make the last one disappear.

In this battle, I also achieved one of my missions.
