Chapter 89: Confirming the Role

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Gao Xin was puzzled. She asked, “Who else tried to persuade you?”

Xia Xin explained, “Last night, Jing MO also mentioned that I’d be suitable for the role. But I don’t understand anything about it, so I’m still hesitant.”

Gao Xin clarified, “I know why Jing MO advised you. If you don’t want to take on the role, the director can find someone else. But both Jing MO and I believe that you are well-suited for acting. Moreover, this role fits you perfectly. You have a deep understanding of animals, and animals are very fond of you. If you were to imitate a cat, you could certainly do it convincingly.”

Gao Xin made a playful face and said, “I also have a personal motive. I hope to have the chance to work with you. You don’t know how boring it is to go to work every day. I need a friend by my side.”

Xia Xin hesitated and said, “But I know nothing about being a stunt double.”

Gao Xin explained, “The script revolves around the transformation of a cat before and after. It originally comes from another planet, where it has a certain form. When it arrives on Earth, it inhabits a human body with a different appearance, while I play the human character. So, we need someone to portray the cat’s original form on the cat planet, which will be a more cat-like being.”

Xia Xin had seen movies of a similar genre, so she quickly understood the role.

Gao Xin continued, “The workload isn’t very demanding; you’ll probably only need to be on set for about a week to finish filming. What do you think? Will you consider it?”

Xia Xin replied, “I’m really tempted. I’ll call the director tonight to confirm my participation.”

Gao Xin happily exclaimed, “I’ve recruited another key player for the production. The director will surely treat me to a meal! ”

Xia Xin modestly responded, “Oh, don’t exaggerate. I’m not that good. Please don’t praise me too much.”

The two of them enjoyed their meal tremendously. Afterward, Xia Xin stood by the roadside, rubbing her belly, waiting for Gao Xin’s manager to pick her up.

Originally, Gao Xin had offered to drive Xia Xin home, but Xia Xin declined, saying, “No, I ate too much today. I need to walk off some calories; besides, it’s not far.’

Gao Xin said, “Alright then. By the way, if you talk to the director about this tonight, you’ll probably be on set tomorrow.”

Xia Xin was pleasantly surprised. She asked, “Does that mean I’ll see you again tomorrow?”

Gao Xin grinned and said, “I’ll be at the studio tomorrow, waiting for you. I’ll order some milk tea for you!”

Then, the two ot them reluctantly said their goodbyes.

On her way back, Xia Xin felt happy because she had made a new friend. She was practically skipping down the street. During her walk, she noticed a crowd gathered on the roadside. Among them, a man and a woman were in a heated argument.

Xia Xin wasn’t one to enjoy such spectacles and tried to bypass the crowd to head home. However, the crowd suddenly parted, and a disheveled young girl rushed out, colliding with Xia Xin. The girl, in a panicked state, tightly gripped Xia Xin’s arm, tears in her eyes, and pleaded, “Miss, please save me!”

Though Xia Xin was unfamiliar with this situation, she quickly reassured the girl, “Don’t be afraid. First, tell me what happened.”

The girl, trembling, pointed behind her and said, “That man attempted to assault me. I didn’t want to, and he hit me. I managed to escape only with great effort, but he’s chasing me!”

Xia Xin looked towards the man now standing among the crowd. He was wearing nothing but a bathrobe and hotel disposable slippers, his face flushed, and he appeared furious.

Based on his attire, Xia Xin didn’t need any further confirmation; she knew the girl’s words were true.

The man, upon seeing the girl had found help, grew even angrier and stepped closer towards them. He yelled, “You, woman, don’t meddle in this! It was clearly you who seduced me. I didn’t want to, and now you’re falsely accusing me! You vile woman!”

Xia Xin, without a doubt in her mind that the man was the aggressor, didn’t bother listening to his words. She quickly placed herself between him and the girl, warning, “I suggest you don’t come any closer! I’ve already called the police. If you don’t want to be charged with harassment, I advise you to step back!”

The man, clearly frightened, retreated to a safe distance and retorted angrily, “I warn you not to interfere too much.. Do you even know who’s behind you?

Are you helping her? Don’t let her deceive you!”
