Chapter 171: It’s My Fault

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation | Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Jing MO and Xia Xin were the first to arrive at the designated location. Upon reaching, they didn’t waste any time. They quickly selected a spot and set up their tent. As they were finishing the setup, the other two teams finally arrived, huffing and puffing with exhaustion.

When Tian Mei saw the erected tent, her face lit up with joy. Eagerly grabbing her baggage, she started heading inside. “Stop!” Jing MO frowned, visibly displeased by Tian Mei’s approach. “This tent is our own; we brought it.”

Tian Mei paused, bewildered. She looked at the cameraman and asked, “Isn’t the tent provided by the show’s crew?”

The cameraman shook his head, growing increasingly exasperated. Ever since disembarking from the ferry, he had been subjected to Tian Mei’s affectations—an experience he found profoundly annoying.

“But what are we supposed to do without a place to stay?” Tian Mei’s lips quivered as she spoke as if she were on the brink of tears.

“Your lack of preparation is your issue. It’s not our responsibility to compensate for your mistake,” Xia Xin replied. She had no patience for people like Tian Mei, who seemed to thrive on drama.

They were participating in a reality show where, as explicitly stated by the producers, everyone was responsible for their own food and shelter. Despite that, Tian Mei had only brought impractical items. It was her fault.

Tears gushed from Tian Mei’s eyes. She said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! It’s all my fault, and I’ve let everyone down.”

Online reactions were mixed.

[Oh my God, don’t cry, Tian Mei! It’s not your fault; the producers didn’t explain things clearly.]

[Xia Xin, you don’t have to be so cruel. It’s Tian Mei’s first time on the show; she didn’t know better.]

[Why is Xia Xin so selfish? Her tents are large enough for three people each!

Even Jing Mo’s could fit in male artists! Why can’t they let her in?”

[It’s Tian Mei’s own problem! Xia Xin is right; they have no obligation to cover for her mistake!]

[Tian Mei has been a burden since the beginning of the show. She has so much baggage and she asked Lu Shi to help her carry it. She even asked Xu Zhi to help. God knows how tired Xu Zhi and Lu Shi were on the road.]

[That’s right. They had to carry her baggage along the bumpy roads. They couldn’t use the wheels at all. They were all exhausted. Tian Mei is a jinx!]

[Exactly!]

Many fans showed their support towards Tian Mei and some naturally felt the opposite. They were all at war for their frustrations.

After securing her belongings inside the tent, Xia Xin began to rummage around. She had brought along some instant food items, a portable stove, and an alcohol lamp. She decided to cook some noodles. Concerned that the smell might linger in the tent, she chose to cook outside instead.

“Jing MO, what flavor do you prefer?” Xia Xin inquired.

“I’m good with anything,” he replied.

Xia Xin took out packs of instant noodles, poured some mineral water into a pot, and started cooking. After walking for so long, both of them were tired and hungry. They decided to eat and rest a bit before exploring further.

Meanwhile, Tian Mei was left sobbing on her own. Lu Shi, clearly agitated, walked away and set up his hammock between two trees. With a background of owning a private island, he was no stranger to outdoor living. Once the hammock was secure, he used a portable strap to hang his baggage from a tree, then began to eat a sandwich.

Xu Zhi placed Tian Mei’s two bags next to her and also took his leave. Zhou

Lian and Xu Zhi had brought their own tents as well. Though not as spacious as Jing Mo’s or Xia Xin’s, they at least had shelter from the elements.

In the end, all the participants had settled down, except for Tian Mei, who stood crying alone. Nobody paid her any attention. After a while, feeling humiliated, Tian Mei stopped crying. She had no choice; her baggage lacked essentials. Her assistant had warned her that this was an island adventure with no luxury hotels or gourmet meals, but she assumed the crew would provide necessities. She was wrong. If given another chance, she would bring another baggage filled with survival gear.

Glancing at Xia Xin’s tent, then at Zhou Lian’s, a new thought started forming in Tian Mei’s mind..
