Chapter 208: Proposal To Get Married

The night breeze blew in from the window.

Qiu Tong stared at Jin Yang gloomily. She held up the court summons in Jin Yang’s and asked calmly, “What solution do you have?”

Jin Yang was leaning against the door with one hand in his pocket. When his eyes met Qiu Tong’s, coldness engulfed his entire body.

He immediately stood up straight, his throat tight with hesitation. He didn’t know how to begin.

Jin Yang took a deep breath and suggested in a tentative, “Song Yan and I are twins. Our DNA is the same.”

“In other words, if the children and I undergo a paternity test, the results will be the same as Song Yan’s.”

“If you want, we can get married. This way, Song Yan won’t be able to sue you for custody of the children…”

As Jin Yang explained the feasibility of this plan, Qiu Tong’s eyes turned increasingly cold. She suddenly curled her lips into a mocking smile. “So this is the solution? Jin Yang! I’m warning you, be it you, Song Yan, the president or any high-ranking official, no one can even dream of taking my children away from me!”

“They are my children and have no links with anyone else!”

Qiu Tong was agitated and Jin Yang paused for a moment. He raised his slender fingers to rub the space between his brows, trying his best to lay out the current situation for her in a gentle tone. “Song Yan will never give up. Even if you move out of this city, he will still be able to find you.”

“The children have their own friends in kindergarten. Do you want them to live a life of constant escaping and hiding with you?”

“This is unfair to them. It is not a long-term solution.”

Jin Yang spoke the truth. Qiu Tong bit her red lips and looked away, wanting to avoid him. She clenched her fists and leaned against the corner of the desk.

The space was so quiet that only their breathing could be heard.

Jin Yang bent over and picked up the court summons from the ground. “I can find a lawyer to sign a prenup to protect you and the children’s interests.”

“I can even clearly state that I will never sue for custody of the children. Compared to Song Yan, I am the better choice.”

“Also, even after we get married, we will still stay in separate rooms. I won’t do anything outrageous during this period of time. You can rest assured about that.”

Jin Yang was confident. He would not force Qiu Tong to make a decision tonight. Instead, he would give her time to think.

Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao were hiding outside the door, eavesdropping on their conversation.

Qiu Xingqiao asked in a low voice, “Can we trust him?”

Qiu Xingyuan shook his head and brought Qiu Xingqiao back to the room. “Now that things have developed to this point, we have to rely on our own strength to survive this crisis. We can’t trust outsiders anymore! They might have other motives…”

Qiu Xingqiao’s lips parted. He clenched his fists and secretly swore. “Elder Brother, I will definitely protect our home!”

As time passed, Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao’s attitude towards Qiu Tong evolved from conflict to reliance.

They had seen the changes in Qiu Tong, and now, they considered her perspective before doing anything.

At night, Qiu Xingyuan quietly got up from the bed. He looked at Qiu Xingqiao, who was sleeping soundly, before quietly making his way to the study room.

He saw a faint light coming through the door crack. Qiu Xingyuan knocked softly on the door.

Qiu Tong studied the prenup she had received in her email inbox. She was still feeling conflicted when she heard a knock on the door. She closed the computer and opened the door.

“Qiu Xingyuan? It’s so late. Why aren’t you asleep?”

Qiu Tong asked with concern.

Qiu Xingyuan lowered his arms and stood in the middle of the study room. After a moment of silence, he raised his head and stared at Qiu Tong with his dark eyes. “We are all willing to move away with you. The kindergarten syllabus is too juvenile for us. Qiu Xingyuan and I have already completed all our school work in advance on our own. We won’t lag behind in school.”

“As long as we move to the outskirts of the countryside where communication is inconvenient, it will be difficult for them to find us.”

Qiu Xingyuan pursed his thin lips. Qiu Tong looked at him and suddenly squatted down with a sniffle. She rested her hands on Qiu Xingyuan’s shoulders and said in a nasal voice, “Sorry, Mommy didn’t handle it well and now, you have to worry about me.”

Drip…

Hot tears fell on the back of Qiu Xingyuan’s hand. Momentarily taken aback, Qiu Xingyuan hesitated for a while before raising his small hand and patting Qiu Tong’s back.

Qiu Tong’s eyes flickered. Shaken, she hugged Qiu Xingyuan tightly in her arms and buried her face in the crook of his neck. “I’m sorry.”

This apology made Qiu Xingyuan feel a little lost and helpless. He could only stand there in a daze, letting Qiu Tong’s aura surround him.

“No one can take us away. Even if they kidnap us, I will protect my siblings and find an opportunity to sneak out and run back to this villa to find you. Although you always beat and scolded us in the past, now…”

Qiu Xingyuan paused for a moment, before adding heavily, “You are the only person we will acknowledge as family.”

Qiu Tong couldn’t control her tears. She sat on the ground and covered her eyes with her hands. Tears trickled down her fingers.

With a straight face, Qiu Xingyuan gently reached out to wipe her tears. He muttered softly, “Why are you crying? Such an ugly sight.”
