Chapter 104: Counterattack
At the food stall, Shu Yuanwei looked at Qiu Tong, who was standing at the entrance. He gritted his teeth and glared at her fiercely, blaming her for all his losses!
Everyone wanted to stock up on food. When they saw Qiu Tong’s cart parked outside, they all asked her how much she was selling it for.
They raised the price to three times that of Qiu Tong’s earlier price.
Shu Yuanwei felt his heart bleed. Qiu Tong comforted the crowd. “These are my personal grains. Sorry, they are not for sale.”
“But if you want to buy grains, there’s still some at the old farmer’s house. I can introduce you to him…”
When Shu Yuanwei heard that his customers were about to leave, he hurriedly shouted and interrupted her. He started a rumor by saying, “Don’t listen to her!”
“She must have known in advance that there would be a locust plague. Otherwise, why would she let her children sell locust pesticide and wantonly buy up old grains?”
“Think about it carefully. Who would research locust pesticide for no reason?”
“In the past few years, the harvests have been very good. There’s no shortage in the food market at all! How did she manage to predict the locust plague in advance?”
When everyone heard Shu Yuanwei’s words, they took a few wavering steps back and maintained a distance from Qiu Tong, as if she was a jinx.
Shu Yuanwei immediately rejoiced and continued to slander Qiu Tong. He pointed at her and said, “She might be the one who created the locust larvae!”
“She is deliberately destroying the grain fields to cause a disaster. She then hoarded food at a low price to sell at a huge profit!”
“This woman is too vicious! Don’t be fooled by her!”
Shu Yuanwei’s words became increasingly outrageous. He even wanted to instigate the crowd to attack her.
Qiu Tong looked at his arrogant manner and rotated her wrist indifferently. She asked in a soft voice, “Did you buy insurance?”
Shu Yuanwei was stunned for a moment. He instinctively nodded and replied, “Of course.”
A smile flashed across Qiu Tong’s eyes as she approached Shu Yuanwei at an extremely fast speed. She grabbed his collar and threw him out. The surrounding crowd was so frightened that they took a few steps back, leaving an empty space.
Shu Yuanwei’s eyes were pitch-black. He was sprawled on the ground with his face facing down. He opened his mouth to curse Qiu Tong. But as he staggered to get up, he saw Qiu Tong’s fist coming at him.
“Thump!”
Shu Yuanwei’s head vibrated painfully. He squatted on the ground with his dark eyes and covered his head as he crouched.
Qiu Tong looked at his sorry state and took out a handkerchief in disdain to wipe the bloodstains on her fingertips. “Boss Shu bought insurance in advance.”
“He must have been asking for a beating today to cheat his insurance, right?”
She was using Shu Yuanwei’s own words against him. His face was ashen, but he could not think of anything to refute.
Qiu Tong did this to point out the error of Shu Yuanwei’s claims. Fortunately, the surrounding people also understood her intentions. They all looked at Shu Yuanwei’s tragic state and burst out laughing.
Shu Yuanwei was so embarrassed that his scalp went numb and his entire body ached.
He propped himself up on the ground, his eyes filled with hatred. He pointed at Qiu Tong and warned, “Don’t run if you have the guts!”
“I have connections with the police. I can let you spend the rest of your life in prison!”
“You have to pay the price for what you’ve done!”
Shu Yuanwei took out his phone and called the police. Qiu Tong stood calmly in place and settled the cart of food, waiting for the police officers to arrive.
The police officer roughly understood the situation at the scene and brought both parties to the police station to make a statement.
Qiu Tong did not resist. Instead, she sat on the bench at the police station and waited for the proceedings.
Shu Yuanwei sneered at her and threatened in a low voice, “Just you wait!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Shu Yuanwei saw Chief Officer Fang walking over from afar. He hurriedly took the initiative to go up to him and politely took out two cigarettes. “You’re so busy, yet I am still troubling you with this. I’m really sorry!”
“I heard that Chief Officer Fang’s daughter did well in her exams? I managed to find two bottles of good wine. I’ll definitely visit her personally to celebrate!”
Shu Yuanwei pretended to be familiar with Chief Officer Fang. Seeing him take the cigarette, he was relieved.
