“Who's there!!”

“Who are you?!”

“......”

In this mysterious temple, a low and mysterious voice suddenly echoed. This kind of scene was common in horror stories and would have caused people to run away in panic and fear.

Because everyone was tense in this kind of dark and terrifying place, any kind of sound, even just the sound of the wind was enough to make people panic. If a person was at the peak of their tension and snapped, it was likely that they would immediately lose their minds.

The human spirit is a fragile thing.

A group of people quickly turned around. These were the soldiers, and they pulled up their guns and aimed at the dark corners in front of them.

Red laser light shone through, and at the major’s signal, a soldier pulled out a glow stick and threw it, causing the corner to be illuminated and revealing a silhouette.

The silhouette seemed to be human. It’s just that he was covered in a pitch-black robe, preventing anyone from seeing the face of the person. It also prevented anyone from identifying if the figure was human or not.

However, the hand that extended from its sleeve, resembling a forked coral, was enough to make people realize that it was merely a humanoid creature.

“What are you?!”

The major calmly raised his gun and pointed it at the humanoid creature.

In the past, if he had encountered this kind of humanoid creature that wasn’t human and possessed intelligence and reasoning, it would have terrified him, but after seeing the descent of Christ and the attacks of the mythological monsters, the major did not feel any more fear.

Those mysterious apocalyptic creatures were somehow more terrifying than the strange creature in front of him.

“An Elder Thing… I am the Elder Thing that you speak of.”

The pitch-black figure spoke with a strange language, but even if no one could tell what language it was from, everyone present could understand it.

The crowd looked at each other in disbelief and amazement.

That Chtulhu mythology enthusiast stepped forward and excitedly said, “Are you really an Elder Thing? The Elder Things that descended on Earth 200 million years ago?”

“According to your calendar, it was exactly 230 million years ago that we descended on this planet from the stars,” the strange being said.

The Elder Thing was naturally Louie in disguise, or rather everything that didn’t exist on Earth was Louie in disguise. When he was a demigod, he had already been able to act as a person playing multiple roles. Now that he was already a mid-tier god, he was able to create millions of incarnations for that job for him.

“No, why do you already know about us? It’s not that you know of our existence by seeing those stone slabs, but you came here with preexisting knowledge of us!”

The Elder Thing spoke with alarm in its voice. This startled everyone.

Such an incredible being that had been able to perform interstellar travel and descend from the stars more than 200 million years ago was… was actually wary, intimidated, and afraid of them.

That Cthulhu mythology enthusiast hesitated for a moment. He said, “Perhaps you may not believe me when I say this, but there is a man named Howard Philip Lovecraft who has written a novel in which your Elder Things are described in detail.”

“Novel? Hehehe… that man must have been possessed by an evil god, or he is the son of an evil god, or even the evil god itself. If he isn’t then he must have gone mad in the end! Definitely must have!”

The Elder Thing’s voice turned twisted and creepy.

The Lovecraft enthusiast suddenly realized that in the Cthulhu Mythos, many artists were actually madmen, and their inspiration came from unspeakable evils. Perhaps, as the Elder Thing suggested, H.P. Lovecraft was also one of the madmen who had seen the eldritch beings. How else could he have foretold these unknown events and written about them in his books?

If it was in the past everyone would have just laughed it off as fiction, but now that these mysterious beings were actually appearing, there was something very wrong with Lovecraft.

The enthusiast even considered having the United States of America government exhume Lovecraft's grave once he returned to see if any mutations had arisen.

The crowd was silent, leaving the initiative of discourse in the hands of the Cthulhu enthusiast.

“May I ask… are humans and the creatures on Earth created by you?”

Seeing that the Elder Thing was willing to speak, the Cthulhu enthusiast asked carefully.

After asking the question, everyone else became horrified. Gui Bin was even more chilled, feeling that the enthusiast’s question was too sharp. No one was prepared for it at all.

If the Elder Thing in front of him were to say that humans were a lower race created by them, he feared he might go mad. He would rather believe that he was molded from mud by Nuwa, the Chinese goddess.

‘These mythological systems related to evil gods are too terrifying, too bizarre.’

Guibin's teeth chattered as he found this kind of mythology, which could drive people mad at any moment, far from enjoyable.

That Elder Thing seemed to smile wryly and said, “Some of the species on this planet are indeed related to us, but you were not created by us, your appearance was an accident, an accident born out of the strife between the Ancient Gods and the Outer Gods!”

The others looked to the Chtulhu enthusiast, ‘Ancient Gods and Outer Gods? What?’

An American whispered, "Ancient gods, you can think of them as the gods we humans believe in, while Outer gods, as the name suggests, are gods from other universes, and we treat them as the most terrifying evil gods."

His simple explanation made everyone suddenly understand that whether it's God, Zeus, Odin, or even figures like the Eastern Emperor, they all belong to the category of Ancient gods. On the other hand, those evil gods from the Cthulhu Mythos are considered Outer gods.

Indeed, after understanding this point, they realized that the relationships between gods are much more complex. The gods worshiped by Earth's inhabitants may be hostile towards each other due to cultural factors. On the other hand, when facing the Outer gods from the Cthulhu Mythos, they should be united against a common foe.

Not long ago, the appearance of the meteorite in outer space seemed to be closely related to those eldritch gods. However, the monsters emerging from the meteorite fragments are beings like Typhon from Greek mythology, which adds to the confusion. It raised the question of how these different mythological entities are connected and intertwined. It could suggest a complex relationship between various mythologies or a shared origin from some higher cosmic entity.

Could it be that those monsters and evil gods in mythology were actually related to the evil gods of the Cthulhu system? This relationship between the gods had just become a lot more confusing and unsettling.

When Louie had thought of this idea, he felt that it was quite interesting, because according to this categorization, the gods of San Soliel were Outer Gods while the ones on Earth were Ancient Gods.

Indeed, Louie was ultimately a native of Earth, and the world of Saint Soliel was not the same universe but rather a parallel one. The Terran civilization, born in the same universe as Earth, could indeed be hailed as a truly remarkable race capable of confronting gods. Their ability to resist and challenge entities beyond their own realm showcases their greatness and strength. It's a testament to the power and potential of humanity in the face of extraordinary and otherworldly forces.

“How many more Elder Things are there?”

The enthusiast asked again.

“Few remain, few remain... We have fallen, we have gone mad, we have lost our ancient glory, in this underground, in this underground... Our former servant, Shoggoth, is still there... still there... It is a god, an ancient god!!”

The Elder Thing suddenly shouted hoarsely, appearing as if driven to madness. First, it pointed to its own head, which in this world of reversed gravity meant its feet, and then it pointed towards the fiery giant trapped in the ice column!
