Chapter 265: Moving Houses (3)

Kim Han-Gyo’s wife, Hwang Mi-Yeon, arrived at the hospital and headed to the ward where her husband was hospitalized, with a fruit basket in hand and accompanied by her chauffeur. She was in a very good mood right now because the house had been sold far faster than they had expected. Moreover...

“What did you think when you saw Ra-Eun earlier, Mr. Kim? Wasn’t she absolutely adorable?” she asked her chauffeur.

“Yes, madam. She was far more beautiful in person. I could feel her superstar aura even when she was walking toward us from a distance.”

Kang Ra-Eun’s aura had been powerful enough to overwhelm the chauffeur. Mi-Yeon’s mood had skyrocketed just from the fact that she had been able to meet the most popular actress in Korea; she once again recalled the moment when they had signed the contract.

“Her hands were so beautiful, too. You saw me staring only at her hands, didn’t you?”

“I did. You were even scolded by President Jin because you weren’t reading the contract.”

“Hoho, yes. I even almost put my signature in the wrong place.”

Mi-Yeon, like many other middle-aged women, loved to watch dramas, so she had obviously watched the ones that Ra-Eun had starred in. The one that impressed Mi-Yeon the most was Reaper which Ra-Eun starred as the protagonist. She was such a big fan of the drama that she had even put her Reaper?merchandise on display in a corner of her room.

Considering that, there was no way she wouldn’t be happy after getting to meet Ra-Eun in person. Their home had also been sold quickly on top of that.

“I should brag to my husband about this.”

However, Mi-Yeon’s plan had crumbled as soon as she opened the hospital room door.

“Damn woman! How could you sell our house to that bitch of all people? Are you completely out of your mind?!”

“B-Bitch...? Are you referring to Ra-Eun? What’s wrong with selling it to her?”

“Urgh...!”

Han-Gyo thumped on his chest repeatedly with his fist in frustration. Ra-Eun was one of the suspects that Han-Gyo thought could be the masked woman. He did not yet have definitive proof that she was the masked woman, but he still had his suspicions. His heart was about to burst from the fact that his own wife had sold their house to his potential mortal enemy.

Mi-Yeon, who knew nothing about this, stared at her husband in perplexity.

‘What’s gotten into him today?’

***

Ra-Eun had decided to tear down everything that Han-Gyo possessed one by one.

‘Well, tearing them down is fine and all, but taking them for myself is also a form of revenge.’

It did not matter whatever form she enacted her revenge in as long as the objective was fulfilled. Ra-Eun knew very well how much Han-Gyo’s house meant to him; the house had always been with him as he walked the path to success as a politician.

Han-Gyo had always told Ra-Eun... no, Park Geon-Woo, that he felt like this house gave him good luck. Hence, he always used to talk about how the heavens were on his side. However, his special place had been ripped away from his grasp by the very person who had ruined his life. In Ra-Eun’s perspective, she couldn’t be happier.

‘Although, Kim Han-Gyo probably doesn’t understand the entirety of this situation.’

However, Ra-Eun did not care. All that mattered was her own satisfaction. The moving date was quickly decided as well; it would be in two weeks, as well as the date that Han-Gyo would be discharged from the hospital.

‘I’d heard that he would be going straight to the countryside as soon as he was discharged.’

Han-Gyo’s men were already packing their things to get ready to move out. He would only be pestered by reporters if he stayed here any longer, so it was in his best interest to move out as soon as possible. The moving date had been decided quicker than expected, so Ra-Eun, Seo Yi-Seo and Seo Yi-Jun also quickly packed their things. The items that took the most time to pack were...

‘Clothes.’

Ra-Eun’s clothes occupied almost seventy percent of their one dressing room, and the remaining 30% was shared between Yi-Seo and Yi-Jun. Ra-Eun alone had taken up the majority of the house space. She initially had absolutely no intention of owning this many clothes; she had so few clothes back when she had been a man that people thought that she only owned one outfit.

However, after becoming a woman and debuting as an actress, she had come to own far too many clothes to count. Even when she wasn’t actively purchasing clothes, gifts and sponsored outfits flowed in regularly. She couldn’t refuse them, so the dressing room brimmed with an endless array of clothes as she kept accepting them.

There weren’t many clothes that she had bought with her own money. There were so many that there were some that she had never even worn before.

‘I got that one as a gift last year.’

As for the ones that Ra-Eun had never worn, there was a reason for it. One of the clothes caught her attention.

‘This skirt is way too short.’

It was so short that she would need to wear bloomers to even attempt to wear it. Ra-Eun thought that if she were going to wear bloomers under a skirt, she would rather just wear pants instead. Hence, miniskirts had been excluded from her usual wardrobe.

However, Ra-Eun’s reluctance toward skirts had gone down quite a lot compared to before. She sometimes wore long skirts whenever she felt like it. That alone was remarkable progress.

‘I’ll take this chance to dispose of clothes that I don’t wear.’

Ra-Eun thought it was a waste to throw them away, so she decided to give them away. She came out of the dressing room and looked for Yi-Seo.

“Yi-Seo. Can you come here for a sec?”

“Yeah, sure.”

Yi-Seo paused packing up the things in her room and followed Ra-Eun to the dressing room.

“I’m thinking of using this moving opportunity to dispose of clothes that I don’t wear. I’ll give you any clothes that you want from here. What do you say?”

“Sounds good to me.”

Most of the clothes that Ra-Eun owned were far too much of a waste to throw away. There were a few expensive brands mixed among them, and a huge number of them had beautiful designs.

“Are you sure I can have them?” Yi-Seo asked.

“Yeah. I won’t be wearing them.”

“Not even this denim skirt? It’s pretty.”

“I tried that on once, but it’s so uncomfortable.”

“Isn’t fashion usually meant to be uncomfortable?”

“I prefer practicality over fashion.”

Ra-Eun did not care much about what she wore except during her drama or film shoots, or when she went to meet VIPs. Yi-Seo had known Ra-Eun for so long, so she immediately understood.

“In that case...”

Yi-Seo began to choose clothes at a quick pace. Everything that she chose had one thing in common: they were all bottomwear.

“Are you lacking bottomwear?” Ra-Eun asked.

“Nope.”

Yi-Seo also had many, but there was a specific reason why she had only chosen them.

“It’s obvious that your tops won’t suit me.”

‘Why not?”

“Well...” Yi-Seo slurred as her gaze shifted to Ra-Eun’s torso, especially her chest area.

She felt a sense of defeat as she stared at Ra-Eun’s voluptuous chest.

“Because I don’t want to feel more humiliated than I already do.”

“...???”

Ra-Eun was even more confused despite having heard the reason.

***

The moving date had finally come. They had hired a moving service, so there was nothing for Ra-Eun and the Seo siblings to do. They bid farewell to their neighbors before leaving and drove in Ra-Eun’s car to their new home. As soon as they arrived, Ra-Eun met Mi-Yeon, Han-Gyo’s wife and the one who had signed the contract with her.

“Good morning, madam,” Ra-Eun greeted with a fake smile.

Mi-Yeon did not look as bright as she had been back when they had signed the contract. She seemed conflicted.

“G-Good morning, Ra-Eun.”

Ra-Eun had immediately realized why Mi-Yeon was acting this way.

‘She must have been given an earful from Kim Han-Gyo about why she had sold their house to me of all people.’

Han-Gyo had a very negative impression of Ra-Eun; it was no wonder since she could possibly be the masked woman in his eyes.

Despite knowing it all, Ra-Eun pretended not to and asked, “You don’t look very good, madam. Are you not feeling well?”

“Huh? N-No, it’s just... It’s nothing.”

Ra-Eun suppressed her laughter as she saw the flustered Mi-Yeon.

“I don’t see Congressman Kim Han-Gyo with you. I heard he was discharged today.”

“My husband went straight to our countryside home.”

“But today’s the moving date. Did he not want to stop by?”

“He told me to take care of everything myself. For God’s sake. I don’t understand why he’s been acting like this. I get the feeling he’s been taking his anger out on me because things haven’t been going well for him lately.”

It was natural for Mi-Yeon to feel that way, since she had no idea what sort of relationship Han-Gyo and Ra-Eun had with each other. And of course, Ra-Eun had absolutely no intention of telling Mi-Yeon.

“What a shame. I had wanted to meet him,” Ra-Eun remarked.

“I’m sure you’ll get the chance to in the future. In any case, congratulations on moving in. This is a good home, so I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with it.”

“Thank you very much, madam.”

There was no way that Ra-Eun wouldn’t be satisfied when she had just taken her mortal enemy’s home for herself. She was planning on sleeping soundly in this home from now on, while experiencing the joy that came from having stolen Han-Gyo’s precious home away from him.

***

The house was massive like its exorbitant price suggested. Not only was the garden massive, Ra-Eun’s roommates were amazed by the many different amenities available.

“Noona. This is my first time seeing a bath this big. We could even swim in it.”

“Even if you can, don’t. It’ll be a huge pain to clean if water splashes on the ceiling.”

The ceiling was so high up that they would need to call service people to clean it. What Ra-Eun liked the most about this place was the terrace on the third floor.

‘I used to smoke up here by myself.’

There used to be times when Han-Gyo took quite a lot of time getting ready, so Ra-Eun had sometimes gotten the housekeeper’s permission to go up to the terrace and take a smoke while enjoying the view. She couldn’t fully enjoy her smokes at the time since it was someone else’s house, but...

‘Now I can enjoy it as much as I want.’

Ra-Eun sat on the bench and relaxedly looked at the terrace view with one leg over the other. She couldn’t feel any more relaxed than this moment; she felt like she could sleep very soundly tonight.
