Chapter 160: World of VVIPs (1)

It had been a while since Chairman Ji Seong-Geum had come to a golf course with his grandson Ji Han-Seok. Feeling good as he looked over at the vast golf course, the chairman stretched with his arms over his head.

“I feel stiff all over from being holed up in my office all day lately.”

“You should start taking better care of your health,” Han-Seok remarked.

As a grandson, Han-Seok couldn’t help but worry about his grandfather since Chairman Ji was now classified as an elderly. No matter how healthy someone was, they could not overcome the flow of time; abnormal symptoms were bound to appear as one aged. Hence, Han-Seok was hoping for his grandfather to reduce his company duties and focus more on taking care of himself.

Chairman Ji looked at his grandson and said, “I have to keep working until I can hand the company over to you and your father.”

The chairman had already set his mind to hand down Do-Dam Group to his son and grandson. However, Han-Seok had no burning desire to inherit the company. He had only taken on a portion of the company’s duties because his grandfather had wanted him to; he had no intention to compete against his relatives for his own share of the company, since he also had his acting career.

However, Han-Seok fulfilled his company duties excellently despite having no greed for it. Hence, Chairman Ji had decided to hand down a portion of the company to Han-Seok as well. There was also something else that he wanted from Han-Seok.

“I will give you the entire company if you manage to make Ra-Eun your bride,” Chairman Ji expressed.

Chairman Ji had taken a liking to Kang Ra-Eun enough for him to make such a pledge, since there would be absolutely no problem in leaving the company to Ra-Eun and Han-Seok.

Han-Seok laughed in embarrassment. He also wanted nothing more than that.

“I don’t know what Ra-Eun would think about that.”

He honestly was not confident in making Ra-Eun his. Not only were there a huge number of competitors also aiming for Ra-Eun, but most of all, she did not seem to want a boyfriend at the moment. Hence, Han-Seok had to be cautious. He had already caused massive trouble for her due to their previous dating scandal, so he did not want to be any more of a nuisance to her.

That was how Han-Seok felt, but Chairman Ji thought otherwise.

“A man has to be aggressive. That’s how your father and I were able to meet your mother and grandmother.”

Han-Seok had never expected to get dating advice from his grandfather at a golf course. As they were spending the time like that for about ten minutes, the two people who would be joining their game of golf had arrived.

“Good morning, Chairman. Sunbae.”

Ra-Eun and Park Seol-Hun, who anyone could tell was nervous from his face, greeted them.

Chairman Ji welcomed the two. “Thank you for giving us your precious time. I’m sure you’re busy with film shoots lately.”

“Not at all, Chairman. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you, so I couldn’t be any happier that you’d contacted me first.”

Chairman Ji’s smile widened even more. Meanwhile, Han-Seok was curious about something.

“Do you know how to play golf, Ra-Eun?”

Han-Seok had never played golf with Ra-Eun, nor had he ever heard that she knew how to. Hence, he was worried that she had been forced by his grandfather to come despite knowing nothing about the sport. However, there was nothing to worry about.

“Yes. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m quite good,” Ra-Eun mentioned.

She looked as comfortable as she could be. Chairman Ji found the confident Ra-Eun to be very cute and lovely.

“It felt so dull to come here with just men all the time, but it feels so nice to have Ra-Eun with us today.”

The results of their coming match aside, Chairman Ji simply couldn’t be happier to spend time with Ra-Eun. Seeing that, Han-Seok suppressed his bitter smile.

‘No wonder he made a pledge like that. He’s taken such a liking to Ra-Eun.’

Another name had been added to the list of people who had fallen for Ra-Eun’s charms.

Hole 3. Par 3. Shot 1.

The hole was not that far away. Chairman Ji got in position for his tee shot.

Smack!

His tee shot was so magnificent that it was hard to believe he was an elderly man. The others expressed their amazement as they watched the golf ball flying in the air.

“Nice shot!”

“That was amazing, Chairman!”

Chairman Ji chuckled from Ra-Eun’s praise. It was Han-Seok’s turn next. He was on Chairman Ji’s team. His ball flew further than the chairman’s despite having less golf experience.

“That’s youth for you,” the chairman expressed while patting his grandson on his back to show off his strength.

Showing off to who? Who else but Ra-Eun?

Ra-Eun’s team was up next.

Thunk!

Seol-Hun swung the golf club with an extremely nervous face. It made a very strange impact sound, and the ball flew off at a weird angle.

“Out of bounds,” Chairman Ji stated.

Like he had stated, the ball flew somewhere else entirely. Seol-Hun’s ball had ended up in a hazard on the first hole, so he couldn’t be more embarrassed.

“I must be off my game today,” Seol-Hun said.

In terms of golf experience, Chairman Ji had overwhelmingly more experience than everyone here. After him, it was Seol-Hun, and then Han-Seok. Ra-Eun sighed as she watched Seol-Hun make blunders one after another despite having more experience than Han-Seok.

“You said you were good at golf,” Ra-Eun whispered at Seol-Hun.

“I was. In the past.”

Ra-Eun was belatedly swept with regret. She should have brought Ma Yeong-Jun or Director Do Hye-Yeong instead. She had no choice but to make up for Seol-Hun.

Ra-Eun got in position with a 7 iron. Chairman Ji and Han-Seok’s eyes lit up as they observed Ra-Eun’s form.

Thwack—!

The ball flew further than Han-Seok’s. It flew and flew until it reached the green.

“Whoa! Great shot!”

“A birdie chance right from the tee shot? Impressive!”

Han-Seok and Chairman Ji highly praised Ra-Eun’s golf skills. If Seol-Hun had been at least a decent golf player, Ra-Eun’s team would have absolutely floored Chairman Ji’s team.

They moved to the next hole on a golf cart. Ra-Eun sat next to Han-Seok. She took out sunscreen and applied it to her thighs during the drive. Unlike the men who were wearing pants, Ra-Eun was wearing female golf wear that fully exposed her legs. Hence, she was putting on as much sunscreen as possible to prevent her legs from getting tanned.

Han-Seok courteously turned his gaze away. Although Ra-Eun was wearing bloomers underneath, it was still not okay to stare blatantly.

“C-Come to think of it, where did you learn to play golf?” he stuttered.

“Golf? I learned it a long time ago from a sunbae I know.”

“Oh, really?”

Bodyguards frequently accompanied VVIPs as part of their job, so Ra-Eun had also naturally come to learn golf. She possessed such high athletic prowess that it didn’t take her very long to learn the sport.

Han-Seok could only think of the word ‘almighty’ whenever he saw Ra-Eun, who was good at absolutely everything. She was beautiful, had a great figure, an easygoing personality, and was extremely capable. Like Chairman Ji had mentioned, there was no better woman than her.

Han-Seok also couldn’t help but desire her, but he wasn’t able to find the right opportunity to confess, and today was no different.

***

Ra-Eun’s team had taken the lead after the third hole. They moved to the fifth hole that was over two hundred meters long.

Ra-Eun’s tee shot once again flew in a long and beautiful arc with a clear impact sound. The ball landed on the fairway.

Chairman Ji expressed his amazement. “Man, we’re gonna lose at this rate.”

Ra-Eun softly giggled in response. She was already holding back considerably. Chairman Ji and Han-Seok’s will to win would have been completely shattered if she had gone all out from the beginning. What she wanted was a close victory, so she was purposefully adjusting the flow of the game on her own.

They once again moved via golf cart for their approach shots.

Chairman Ji asked Ra-Eun from the front of the cart, “Come to think of it, had Do-Dam and Levanche ever collaborated?”

Ra-Eun stabbed Seol-Hun’s side with her elbow. Seol-Hun took this opportunity to speak.

“No, Chairman. Not yet.”

Although their companies’ fields of expertise were different, they could always come to some sort of agreement in terms of promotions. There were tons of events that offered discount coupons for a particular restaurant if one purchased products from a particular store. They could do something similar for Levanche’s sportswear and Do-Dam Group’s restaurants.

Do-Dam Group was mainly a food manufacturing company, but they also possessed many restaurant franchises. Levanche was sure to benefit massively from a partnership with Do-Dam Group.

“Really? Then we should. What do you think, Ra-Eun?” Chairman Ji asked.

Although Ra-Eun was far younger than Chairman Ji, she was also a bonafide chairwoman. Chairman Ji couldn’t establish a collaboration between the two companies by himself. However, Ra-Eun couldn’t ask for anything better than a collaboration with Do-Dam Group.

“We’d love to,” she expressed.

She had absolutely no reason to refuse when a conglomerate like Do-Dam Group was offering to promote Levanche. Chairman Ji called for his chief secretary, who had been following them from behind, and let him know of the conversation that they had in the golf cart.

The chief secretary bowed and replied, “I understand. I will let the directors know.”

Ra-Eun suppressed her laugh; she didn’t know that a partnership could be established so easily.

Chairman Ji once again spoke first as they were moving to the area where their golf balls were.

“Hadn’t you, me and Congresswoman Hong promised to get together before?”

“Yes, we had,” Ra-Eun answered.

“It’s been a while, so the three of us should have a meal together soon.”

Ra-Eun wanted to add one more person to that meeting.

“May I invite one more person if that’s alright with you, Chairman?”

Chairman Ji had no reason to refuse if it was Ra-Eun’s acquaintance, but he at least wanted to know who it was.

“Who?”

“I’m sure you already know her very well.”

There was no way he wouldn’t know; the woman that Ra-Eun wanted to invite was extremely famous in the Korean financial world.

“Vice President Park Hee-Woo of TP Entertainment.”

An opportunity for all the members of the anti-Kim Han-Gyo force to meet had finally been established.
