Chapter 204: Loss
When Chen Chen saw this sight, he did not immediately explore this new world, but instead turned around and looked behind him.
He only saw that dark passage behind him floating directly in thin air without any support as if space itself had opened up a circular door...
Chen Chen felt relieved upon seeing this.
After all, this passage behind him was the only path back to reality. If there was a problem with the passage behind, Chen Chen would be trapped forever in a foreign land, unable to ever return.
Chen Chen got a grip on himself and began observing the space. He noticed that he was now standing before an enormous platform.
This was the entrance to the Hive.
However, there was no tram on the platform, only a long and narrow railroad track that stretched out endlessly into the distant darkness.
Other than that, there were only a few dried, withered corpses on the platform.
Chen Chen came to a corpse that was lying face down by the rails.
The clothes of this corpse had disintegrated long ago and only a few rags of indistinct colors could be seen. In addition, the most striking thing was a fire ax that had been deeply embedded in the skull of the corpse.
Spence Parks.
In the movie, he and the heroine Alice were both security personnel for the Hive. Both of them were disguised as a couple to guard the mansion.
However, the heroine Alice had objected to the lawlessness of the Umbrella Corporation for a long time. She was going to secretly communicate with the rebels to transport the virus out.

With this in mind, Chen Chen squatted and picked up a golden ring next to the corpse. This ring was left behind by the heroine, Alice.
On the inside of the ring, there were even some English words inscribed – “Property of Umbrella Corporation”.
After putting the ring away, Chen Chen turned and led the two Black Knights toward the gate.
The door to the Hive had been opened by a gas welding machine and could no longer be closed. Chen Chen walked in directly and saw an open elevator door.
There was only darkness beyond the elevator doors. The elevator inside had already fallen to the bottom of the elevator shaft. Chen Chen led the two Black Knights down the stairs directly to the bottom of the Hive.
The structure diagram of the Hive was shown many times in the movie, so Chen Chen did not feel lost. He went straight to the lowest floor and arrived at Dining Hall B.
It was called a dining hall, but in fact, this was an area of incubators for Lickers. Even so, all the incubators had been destroyed now. The creatures inside had broken out many years ago.
On his way, besides human corpses, Chen Chen had seen the corpses of those Lickers.
Time cured everything. If the timeline in which Chen Chen had arrived was just after the crisis, he would not have been able to go so deep. However, it was different now.
The three quickly crossed Dining Hall B and finally reached the end of their journey, which was the most important core of the Hive — the Red Queen Chamber.
It was also the power control room of the entire Hive.
If one wished to enter the Red Queen Chamber, one would need to pass through a laser channel. In the first movie, the laser channel was not only the turning point of the movie but also the first climax.
This laser channel not only killed half of the commando squad, but even the commando captain, who seemed to be the most skilled, most important character, was also killed.
The gate to the laser channel was closed at this time. Chen Chen did not think much about it. He beckoned at once and the two Black Knights immediately tossed their sticky bombs.
“Boom!”
After a thunderous explosion, the gate of the laser channel was blown away. The path to the Red Queen Chamber was completely opened. Throughout the entire journey, Chen Chen had not met any resistance from the Hive.

As he stared at the doors at the end of the passage, Chen Chen did not enter directly but beckoned again. At once a Black Knight took out a sticky bomb and walked straight into the passage.
As long as the doors at the end of the channel were broken down, the path to the Red Queen Chamber would be unobstructed.
However, the unthinkable happened...
Just as the Black Knight entered the passage, the entire Hive suddenly buzzed with the sound of electric current. Chen Chen’s expression shifted. The lights around him lit up rapidly while the laser channel came to life as well!
“Get out of there!”
Chen Chen hurriedly gave this command.
Without any hesitation, the Black Knight turned right around and swiftly ran out!
Behind the Black Knight, a cyan laser appeared out of thin air, flashing across the tempered glass wall with scorching heat!
“Sizzle!”
Just as the Black Knight threw himself forward and was nearly out of the range of the channel, the laser split this Black Knight in two!
“Clatter!”
The Black Knight was instantly severed at the waist, and both parts of the body flew out of the passage!
Chen Chen’s face darkened at once.
As he stared at the Black Knight who was still struggling on the ground with his lower body cut clean off, Chen Chen took out a small knife and made a cut on the back of the Black Knight’s neck, then took out the God chip.
As soon as he did that, the Black Knight immediately stopped all signs of struggling and descended into a blank state.
When one was severed at the waist by this sort of laser with a temperature of thousands of degrees, the wound would be directly cauterized and sealed, thus reducing blood flow. An ordinary person would even struggle for about half an hour before dying, which was extremely terrifying to think of.
In contrast, the Black Knight experienced no thoughts or pain, acting entirely on a chip. As long as the chip was taken out, it could be switched to a new body at any time.
After he kept the chip, Chen Chen looked solemnly at the laser channel that was lit up ahead.
It was still able to retain power after so many years. Obviously, the Hive had generated power with a nuclear reactor.
Previously, the Hive seemed to be running in a low-power mode. In this state, the entire Hive would enter a power-saving state. It would only be activated again when someone arrived.
In other words, the Red Queen could have activated the Hive earlier, but it did not do so. Instead, it was ready to wait until the three of them entered the laser channel, then wipe them out by a surprise attack?
