Chapter 31: What If I Wanted to See You?

There was incense in the living room. It was not heavy and seemed to float in the air. It smelled very similar to Shen Yanqing.

Nan Ge sniffed lightly and followed Shen Yanqing's back. She watched him disappear around the corner as if he had entered a room.

The other party was not around, so she did not know what to do. However, her attention was quickly attracted by the piano in the living room.

Not long after, Shen Yanqing returned.

Nan Ge did not turn around when she heard footsteps. "You can play the piano too?"

"Yes, but not professionally." Shen Yanqing placed the first aid kit on the table. As he opened it, he said, "I studied for a few years when I was young. Later, I was busy studying, so I stopped."

"When I first moved here, my friend said that the living room was empty, so he sent it over. I don't usually touch it."

"I see." Nan Ge indicated that she understood.

Seeing that she had been looking at the piano, Shen Yanqing followed her gaze and took a few more glances. "You like the piano?"

"I have one at home, but I don't know how to play."

It was exactly the same as his. It seemed to be some Steinway.

"Does anyone else in the family like it?"

Nan Ge thought about it carefully and shook her head. "My brother was forced to learn it when he was young. I don't think he likes it."

"When my brother was practicing the piano when I was young, I sat beside him and flipped the score for him. However, he played the piano like he was performing some Taoist ritual. It didn't sound good at all."

This was not the first time Shen Yanqing had heard Nan Ge mention her brother.

She was about to ask her brother what he did for a living when she retracted her gaze and glanced at him twice as if she was observing something.

"What's wrong?" He stopped what he was doing.

After pondering for two seconds, Nan Ge rubbed her chin and said, "I don't know why my grandfather insisted that my brother learn piano. It doesn't match his temperament at all."

"I can imagine you playing the piano. You must be very elegant. As for my brother…"

At this point, she could not help but shake her head, looking like she could not bear to watch.

Shen Yanqing was amused by her disdainful expression and sat down beside her. "Then what kind of temperament does your brother have?"

Without thinking, Nan Ge blurted out, "A hooligan's temperament."

Shen Yanqing, "…"

Nan Ge was not exaggerating at all. Her brother, Nan Zhe, really had nothing to do with the word "elegant". He could not even pretend to be like Shen Yanqing if he tried.

Even Nan Ge felt that she was being nice to him by describing him as a hooligan.

Shen Yanqing smiled. "Your brother should be very good to you, right?"

Although she always heard Nan Ge complain, it also proved that the siblings were really close.

"Yes. Uh huh." Nan Ge nodded without hesitation.

This was true.

Ever since she was young, as long as she wanted something, her brother would buy it for her.

Her brother always said that he wouldn't buy stuff for her, but most of the time, that thing would definitely appear in front of her the next day.

Just like back then, when she said that she wanted a car. Her brother refused, saying that her driving skills were so bad that he suspected that her driver's license was stolen. However, the next day, he still sent the latest Lamborghini from his garage to her school.

"Give me your hand."

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she did not hear what Shen Yanqing said and did not move.

By the time she realized, someone had already grabbed her hand. The other party's finger gently pressed against the inside of her wrist.

Shen Yanqing helped her take off her gloves and carefully moved her hand.

After checking carefully and confirming that the injury was not serious, he secretly heaved a sigh of relief. "Fortunately, you only scraped the lower part."

As soon as he finished speaking, he took out the iodine and carefully cleaned her wounds. "I'll try my best to be gentle." freewebno(v)el

"Okay," Nan Ge replied.

The iodine was a little cold. It did not hurt when it touched the wound, but she could not help but shrink back.

Shen Yanqing's other hand was still pressing on her wrist. When he felt her resistance, he immediately stopped and looked up at her. "Does it hurt a lot?"

Nan Ge shook her head like a rattle drum.

Her injuries were not serious at all. She subconsciously propped herself up on the ground when she fell. It was just a little scrape. A band-aid would be enough.

However, she looked up and her gaze fell on his face.

The bright light from the chandelier above his head intertwined with the light from the floor lamp beside him, gently enveloping the man.

He lowered his head, his brows furrowed, his expression serious. From her angle, she could clearly see his eyes under the lenses.

Unexpectedly, she asked, "Are you very shortsighted?"

"It's not serious." Shen Yanqing's attention was on her hand. freewebno(v)el.com

"Then why are you wearing glasses at home? Won't you feel uncomfortable?"

"I'm afraid I can't see your wound properly."

After a few seconds, Nan Ge heard him say again, "If there are any broken stones or other dirty things, I'm afraid I can't see them and clean the injuries properly."

She never thought that this would be the reason for wearing his glasses at home…

Nan Ge remembered that Shen Yanqing was not wearing glasses when he opened the door for her.

He seemed to have put it on when he went in to get the first aid kit.

"Let me take a look at your other hand." He placed his left hand back in her lap and reached out to her again.

Nan Ge blinked and obediently placed her right hand in his palm.

Shen Yanqing took a closer look and his furrowed brows finally relaxed. "This one is fine. Are there any wounds anywhere else?"

Nan Ge thought carefully and shook her head.

Since it was winter, she was dressed in thick clothes.

When her hand was on the ground, her glove was rubbed against it, causing her palm to be scraped.

Shen Yanqing was still worried. He asked one question after another, "When you first got up and moved around, did you feel any pain anywhere else?"

"Did you break any bones?"

"I don't think so." It had been a while, and the pain in her body had long disappeared.

Hearing her answer and judging from her confused expression, Shen Yanqing did not think her words could be trusted.

"Stand up and walk a little."

"…" Nan Ge was puzzled.

——

Shen Yanqing only let her go after repeatedly ensuring that she was fine.

Nan Ge glanced at the takeout on the table before she remembered something important. "Erm… your food is in no condition to be eaten anymore."

"Shall I order you another one?"

"If you don't want to eat anymore, I'll return the money to you."

Shen Yanqing glanced at the takeout on the table. He could guess how it looked inside without opening it.

"It's okay. I ate on the plane."

"…" Nan Ge scratched her head, her eyes filled with confusion. "Then why did you want to order food?"

Shen Yanqing was bending over and sorting out the first aid kit carefully.

He only smiled and replied, "I can order it even if I've eaten it before."

Nan Ge thought about it carefully and felt that it made sense. "Airplane meals are indeed not delicious, and the portions are small. Besides, it's been an hour or two, so it's no surprise for you to be hungry."

"If you're too hungry, I'll go downstairs and buy you something else first. Our restaurant is a little slow tonight…"

"Don't bother. I'm not actually hungry."

Nan Ge was completely speechless. "If you don't want to eat, then why order takeout?"

"Just because I ordered takeout, doesn't mean I'm hungry." On the other side, Shen Yanqing gently closed the first aid kit, straightened up, and looked at her gently.

"What if I wanted to see you?"
