Chapter 3: Interface?

Fein saw a green dot shining in front of him and tried to touch it, but his hands just slipped past it.

He tried everything to get it to work, including...

‘On’ Login!’

‘System, get out!’ ‘Activate,’ but he didn’t receive any response...

He was so frustrated because the novels he had been reading all this time turned out to be scams.

Then a light bulb appeared in his head. There was one more idea that he hadn’t tried yet. All of these are successful attempts in Gamer’s novels in his past life.

.....

‘Interface!’ Fein yelled inside his mind. His heart pounded crazily in anticipation.

Then, in place of the previous green dot, there was a bright light that twinkled while making a ringing sound in his head.

Fein can’t stop himself from getting excited because what he saw in front of his eyes are those interfaces that you’ll see in games, even if they only display his stats.

Status

Name: Fein Bonifacio

Race: Human

Talent: F (0/100 EXP)

Degu Amount: F (12/100 EXP)

Total EXP: 0

Str: F

Agi: F

End: F

‘Hmmm... there was something like an exp in the talent and degu amount. So what would happen if I added exp to it?’ ‘And where does one get Exp?’ Fein pondered.

‘Because my power’s nature is similar to that of those games, it is only logical to assume that they will function similarly.’ ‘So, if I fill those with exp, does that mean I can increase my Degu amount and upgrade my talent?’

Fein grinned at the possibility.

‘Doesn’t that mean that in order to get stronger, I’d have to kill monsters or even people to gain experience?’ He reasoned.

Fein started to summarize his system’s potential. First, the system did not specify which talent would be enhanced. He had to assume that it was universal talent. It means that it can improve his talent in a variety of areas, such as cooking, fighting, or anything else that is considered talent!

If he can improve his degu talent, he can expect it to help him sense it more smoothly, strengthen his control, and even indirectly increase his degu amount as he gets older.

‘Hmmm... F? So I assumed the order was F, E, D, C, B, and A? and F corresponds to the lowest or beginning phase, whereas E was equivalent to second to the last. So the ranking is alphabetical, just like those role-playing games I played once,’ Fein concluded.

He realized that his basic stats, such as strength and agility, don’t have any exp to fill, which means he can’t level them up.

That was unfortunate, but Captain Gregory mentioned to him once during our training that as the degu amount or degu ability grows, it will reach a qualitative change that affects their power, and it will strengthen their abilities while adding more applications.

‘To be honest, I am grateful to our captain, who patiently taught me during our training. He’s an excellent teacher.’ Fein wasn’t an ungrateful prick.

Gregory taught him everything he needed to know, so now he knows how to fight. He knows the common sense of the Degu Society, how to investigate, and other skills that Ranger’s Eye members should have.

Now that he’s an Official Degu User, he clenched his fist. The feeling of power and finally having the chance to grow stronger makes his blood boil.

‘Now it’s time to go home,’ He mused.

The training area was located on underground of the base, which surprised him when he learned it. This location will be unforgettable to him because it is where he began.

The place is really beautiful; It has a lot of humongous trees in it, lakes with different types of fish, and it appears that they made this place using the kingdom’s resources with the cooperation of three A and B class Degu Users whose abilities focus on utility.

...

While walking to the office, Fein was thinking about how he would take advantage of his ability and abuse it to the fullest.

First, he intends to investigate where monsters gather in this world or to hunt weak thugs in order to gain experience and improve his skills.

Why did he decide to focus on upgrading his talent? Because as his talent grows, so does his talent in Degu, and if his talent reaches A-rank, it would let him grow faster in all aspects!

That means if he consistently trains or fights, he could potentially increase his degu energy amount up to A rank.

Also, if you have a B rank degu talent, you can only remain B rank for the rest of your life. Talent determines how far you can go and how quickly you can get there.

Now that he can improve his abilities in everything, he wants to learn all kinds of professions and master them all to the best of his ability.

He doesn’t have a mysterious ability like breathing fire, but he can supplement it by training in martial arts and other combat techniques.

...

In a ghost-quiet office, only constant creaking noise from the rotten woods and tweeting of the birds outside the window could be heard.

A man sat at a desk in an upright position, wearing a blue suit and smoking a cigar.

“How is the investigation progressing?” The man inquired.

In front of the man’s desk is one of their members, Michael Diaz, who is an excellent scout and has always been dependable. He is also known as the “Shadow Master” because of his ability to blend into the shadows. His abilities are ideal for scouting and espionage.

He was 6’1″, with sharp brows and black hair, and a sunny disposition; he was your typical lady killer type.

“Captain Gregory, this case is as close as it gets. That man is really as slippery as always,” Michael joked.

“Indeed, now we have no choice but to accept his proposal,” Gregory shrugged as he stood up to face the window. The breeze of fresh air caressed his face.

After debating with his inner self for a while, Michael said with an uncertain face.

“But captain, that’s too risky; he might die if he acts as bait; I don’t think this is a good idea; after all, he’s still new to this kind of thing, and that man isn’t a joke.”

“You know we don’t have a choice; the longer we wait, the more dangerous it is for him; we need to catch him while we still know his intentions, and Fein is already determined to do it,” Gregory said, with his usual serious expression.

*thud* *thud* *thud* *thud*

A sound of quiet footsteps echoed behind the door in front of them. Due to the silence in the place, the sound became infinitely magnified that could touch the souls of those who heard it.

Gregory and Michael just stood there quietly. They stared at the door as it slowly opened.

“Yoh,” a black-hair teen walks in and said as a greeting.

He has a faint violet mist on his body.

“Congratulations on becoming an Official Degu User,” Michael smiled.
