Chapter 23: Death’s Touch

Fein dashed forward, using various Martial Arts styles to fight dozens of D Rank... he avoided their weapons and spells with his trained reflexes.

While fighting them, he had already figured out their fighting composition. Typically, one team will have five demons, two of which will be weapon users, one support, and two mages.

Fein quickly dodged the incoming fire and advanced right beside the demon to deliver a straight punch to the opponent. He avoided them with quick movements, and the demon’s companion uses the opportunity to slash him with the sword as Fein retracted his fist.

‘If I didn’t use my technique, I’d get hurt.’ ‘So, without using a flashing dash while fighting multiple opponents, this is my limit,’ Fein thought as he assessed his mistakes and limits in the battle just now.

The sword is only a meter away...

“Finally caught you, Humans! HAHAHA-HA-” the demons laughed triumphantly.

The demon abruptly stopped laughing when Fein vanished. His sword hit nothing but rubble on the ground.

.....

“Is it?” Fein asked with an evil grin on his face, slashing the opponent’s head in a lightning-fast motion.

‘Flashing Scabbard: Flickering Sword Light,’ Fein chanted the name in his head. It’s the self-created technique that he had developed in his spare time.

*Thud!*

A sword light flashed, and the demon’s head fell to the ground...

The other demons quickly surrounded Fein, but he decided to end it here. Fein used his Flashing Dash and performed swift footwork in a zigzag pattern. Their heads flew into the air, and each of their bodies clattered to the ground.

‘Phantom Foot: Z formation’ Is the name of the technique that he had created. It was a combination of flashing dash and zigzag footwork, and it was ideal for dodging multiple attacks while attacking quickly to take down opponents who were slower than him.

His face and his sword were now covered in blood, making him look like a villain who had just slaughtered an entire village...

Kidd approached him with a shocked expression on his face. “I’m surprised that your strength had already reached this level.”

“Well, I have focused on my swordsmanship and martial arts for six months... With my talent, it was only a matter of time.” Fein bragged and as he looked at Kidd shamelessly.

Kidd looks at Fein with a look of realization on his face and says. “Oh, so that’s when you went missing for a few months, right? Captain told me that time you went to a mountain to train yourself.”

“That’s right, I sacrificed my happiness in life to reach my current height... It’s really hard to be lonely at the top,” Fein pretended to sigh as looked at the distant sky with solemnity..

Kidd punched him in the shoulder weakly. “Wait a minute, you’re more shameless than I am!”

“Help! What are you two doing? There are still enemies left... You can continue your discussion later,” a pitiful guard exclaimed.

“Well, it’s time to clear them...” Fein declared.

Fifteen minutes passed in the blink of an eye, Fein finally killed the remaining demons with his Lapu-Lapu sword... They either died without a head or with a hole in their chest.

Michael had already dealt with the last C Rank when its magical power ran out... He also ordered the entire city to converge in one location so that they could easily protect them all.

The hours flew by... Michael has taken command of the survivors. With his charisma and valiant appearance, he quickly won the people’s favor... Not to mention that they just saved their lives from the demons’ ruthless invasion.

Michael ordered Fein and Kidd to patrol and scan the whole vicinity with the leads of the guard to find if there are demons left and kill them on the spot if there were.

Using the carpet strategy, they quickly scanned the entire city... they found eighteen demons hiding in the city’s nooks and crannies. Because they were mostly Rank D, they were able to take down them quickly.

Occasionally, when they aren’t looking... Fein stored a few demon corpses sneakily into his storage space for research purposes. He also learned from the mouth of a demon after the guard tortured him that the demons have dozens of bases in the city near a forest...

The most terrifying part is that the demons have several large bases spread across twenty-five countries. They are planning an invasion of counties on a specific date and time. That was the issue now; they needed to know when and where they were going to attack in order to avoid casualties.

They reported their findings to the Vice-Captain ‘Michael’, who notified the headquarters to warn the other countries about the impending massive scale of the demon invasions.

...

Fein was now working with Kidd... They are now resting in the Ranger’s Eye base’s office in this city. They’re also here to claim their rewards for completing the mission successfully.

Captain Gregory’s request for a special dagger appears to have been approved as a result of his contributions to this mission. Because of Fein’s rapid increase in strength, the higher-ups were now paying attention to him.

This is not a bad thing for Fein because the more attention he gets, the more resources he would receive.

‘Am I not afraid that I revealed my strength? Well... First and foremost, I did not reveal all of my cards... Not even the slightest.’

‘I only showed them the results of my martial arts training and talent, not my degu amount, which was reasonable. Because... It was not uncommon for people to excel in one or two areas.’

...

-The next day-

Fein was now holding a large box in his hands, which he eagerly opened.

Inside the box was a small dagger with a dark blade emitting a wisp of black mist... It has a grey hilt that is covered in strange runes.
