Chapter 129: Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Five.

Getting Things Done

Translator. 549690339

The two of them walked arm in arm for a while, feeling the relentless scrutiny of passersby, they finally separated and walked side by side.

“Where are you heading?” Tang Luo asked with a quizzical look. He still recognized the way to Tianxiang Building, but they were heading west. It occurred to him that Senior Xu had mentioned he had some business to take care of, but Tang Luo wondered what business could possibly occupy a newcomer to Xiling.

“Yesterday, I saved a group of people,” Senior Xu casually began, recounting

the events of the previous night.

“So, let me get this straight,” Tang Luo rubbed his temples, “we’re on our way to pick someone up from Rejuvenation Hall?

“Yes, exactly right!” Senior Xu jovially slapped Tang Luo’s shoulder in

agreement.

“I didn’t properly control my sword energy last night and accidentally injured one of the children. I feel guilty about it. So, no matter what, I can only feel at ease once they safely reach Clear Water County,” he confessed.

Tang Luo nodded his approval of Senior Xu’s course of action.

Despite being born into a wealthy family, he hadn’t taken on the habit of treating the weak as expendable, unlike some martial artists whose cold indifference was proportional to their strength. This made him so much better in comparison.

“We must quicken our pace then.”

“Why so?”

“I have a suspicion that the pursued scholar and the children have already been kidnapped,” Tang Luo finally explained, massaging his temples.

The beggars and vagrants sleeping in the corners at night are often informants for these gangs. As the local power of Xiling, if they couldn’t even get information about people entering and leaving the city, such gangs would have been wiped out long ago, let alone developing further.

The healers at the medical center may indeed help cover things up, but faced with the local thug force showing up at the door, would they really risk their necks for a stranger?

Tang Luo was skeptical, so from the moment he heard Senior Xu’s description, he had concluded that the group at the medical center was likely to have been kidnapped.

“Didn’t everyone say that Xiling is a peaceful city? Kidnapping people just like that?” Senior Xu felt a sudden surge of inexplicable rage.

Tang Luo gave a bitter smile, “The peace is indeed real, but it is aimed rather specifically. It only guarantees that clans won’t arbitrarily wage wars against each other. As for the safety of the common people, it’s not so guaranteed.”

They quickened their pace, and soon reached the Rejuvenation Hall. Patients were gathered in an orderly line waiting for their medications. Behind the counter, the healers were all looking dignified and remnant of Daoist sages as they diagnosed diseases and treated patients.

Seeing the tranquility of the medical center allowed Senior Xu to breathe a sigh of relief. He said to Tang Luo, “Thankfully, nothing seems to be wrong.”

Tang Luo glanced back at Senior Xu, casually replying, “Yes, I hope I was wrong. You go get them, and I’ll wait for you outside.1

If the medical center were to be cordoned off at any moment, it would suggest that the master of the clinic would rather safeguard his patient than hand him over. Seeing this peaceful scene, it’s all too clear that the children and the

scholar are gone.

“Alright, give me a bit,” Senior Xu patted Tang Luo’s shoulder and walked into the Rejuvenation Hall.

He didn’t follow him in, simply to avoid making him uncomfortable.

Looking at Senior Xu’s retreating figure, Tang Luo turned his eyes to the beggars on the opposite street. They looked no different from ordinary beggars – ragged clothes, sickly pale and skinny.

But their eyes didn’t focus on the passing pedestrians or their begging bowls; instead, they often glanced at the Rejuvenation Hall–unmistakably, they were the gang’s informants.

In the Rejuvenation Hall

“What!? You say they’ve been taken away?” Senior Xu roared, his rage surging

at the betraying old doctor.

The old doctor bowed to him and said with a sullen face, “It’s the Righteous Gang and the Feng family, they wanted me to hand over the people. If I didn’t comply, they threatened to remove the plaque from the Rejuvenation Hall.” Senior Xu silently cursed his own lack of foresight for not considering this verdict.

The Righteous Gang? The Feng Family? What sort of rubbish noble families are these? Only capable of cornering a scholar and child, why don’t they come directly after me?

However, now that he knew who was behind this, it would be easy to find them. He turned to leave.

“Wait, young hero.” The old doctor called out, “This is a letter from the head of the Righteous Gang, he asked me to give it to you.”

Senior Xu coldly took the letter and put it into his waistcoat, storming out without saying a word.

“Cousin, help me find out…”As soon as Senior Xu stepped out from the Rejuvenation Hall, ready to tell Tang Luo about the kidnapping, he saw him with a rope in hand, tying up a few beggars, waiting for him.

“What’s this about?” Senior Xu was confused.

Tang Luo yanked the rope in his hand, “They should know where the people were taken.” As he spoke, he pulled the hemp rope, and the beggars cried out in pain, “Ouch, ouch.”

“If you dare to have killed Fatty Jingang, you will have to face the wrath of the Righteous Gang!” A beggar glared at Senior Xu, shouting menacingly.

Senior Xu stepped forward, his voice icy cold, “I did kill him. Why didn’t you come after me?”

The beggar scoffed, “The gang leader left you a letter, at the Fox Fairy Temple outside the city, dare you go?”

Tang Luo and Senior Xu glanced at each other and chuckled. They had no idea what this Righteous Gang was all about, but it seemed that they really considered themselves as some kind of big shots.

If they were truly capable, why not establish their own clan? Why are they still bullying ordinary good people? It’s like they’re joking.

“Well, it seems that you are indeed their target,” Tang Luo shrugged, indicating that this was a piece of good news. At least before they see Senior Xu, they have to keep the scholar and the children as hostages.

Senior Xu also figured it out and said to Tang Luo, “You go back to the mansion first, cousin. I’ll return as soon as I’ve saved them.”

As long as those people were safe, he would have a chance to correct his mistakes. Therefore, he was now eager to go to the Fox Fairy Temple.

However, since they already know so much about him and still dare to invite him, the whole thing would surely be grand and intimidating. Although he could assure himself that he could go in and out of Fierce Realm without getting noticed, it would be too difficult to ensure Tang Luo’s safety at the same time.

“NO worries, let’s go together.” Tang Luo nonchalantly said. He was rather curious about what kind of people this Righteous Gang was.

Watching his cousin’s performance like an eager novice, Senior Xu felt it necessary to temper his excitement. “Last night, the arrival of the Star Moon Coral Rhinoceros attracted too much attention. They must have taken that into account, meaning they are ready to ambush Fierce Realm entities. If a fight breaks out, I may not be able to look out for you. Knowing that, would you still wish to accompany me?”

The worst thing that could happen to natural talent is not knowing one’s limits. You might have a bright future, but you’re still not a strong contender at this point.

In the world of martial arts, no one can win forever. Never admitting defeat, the result is always a bitter defeat. Never retreating, always ending up crashing into a wall!

You can admit defeat, but don’t accept fate. Be ambitious, but not arrogant!

This is what Senior Xu hoped his cousin would understand.

“Don’t worry,” Tang Luo held up a finger, shaking it at him, casually saying, “Even though I’m not that good, I can run very fast and look after myself.” Senior Xu nodded. Tang Luo’s gift was great, but he could admit his current lack of strength. This clearly meant he had a clear awareness of himself, and with such self-awareness, he knew he wasn’t a blindly confident warrior. Only such warriors could strive for the top, and only they could reach the peak.

“Then you come with me, but be sure to stay back. If I give you a signal, retreat immediately.” Senior Xu finally instructed. As long as Tang Luo believed he could protect himself with his exceptional agility, then letting him witness a peak Ascendant Realm level fight could only be beneficial.

Tang Luo threw the rope onto the ground and told the beggars, “You untie yourselves.”

They were just mere informants and their crimes were not so grave to deserve death. If they were released, maybe from tomorrow onwards, the Righteous Gang would cease to exist.

If they could find decent jobs and start over, it wouldn’t be a bad thing..
