"I'm fine." Gerald managed to squeeze a reply.

"That's good. Stay here. We will take care of the rest." The man said with a confident tone.

Soon, more soldiers jumped down from the helicopters and they swiftly eliminated the zombies.

"Sir, our team leader died to protect us. I don't know if you could still retrieve his body, but please sir..." One of Gerald's teammates said.

"Alright. I'll send someone to search for your leader's body." Sigurd nodded his head. He then turned his gaze towards his subordinates and said. "Take them to the helicopter and treat their injuries. Do a preliminary check on them to see if they are infected with the virus."

"Yes, sir!"

The elite soldiers under Sigurd moved into action. They escorted Gerald's group to the helicopter and treated their injuries.

Meanwhile, Sigurd grabbed the broadsword strapped on his back. It was the weapon he requested from Arlan and the latter quickly searched for a suitable sword for him. This broadsword fitted his taste so he chose it among the dozens of swords that Arlan bought for him.

Sigurd swung his sword around, effortlessly slicing the heads of the zombies that came his way. The elite soldiers behind him didn't even need to fire their weapons.

When they entered the narrow staircase, Sigurd was forced to use his gun. The space was too small for him to use his sword so he had no choice. "Search the entire building and look for their team leader's corpse. If he had become a zombie, give him a quick death!" He commanded his soldiers.

"Yes, sir!"

While Sigurd and the elite soldiers were combing through the building, Gerald's group was being inspected by the soldiers on board the helicopter.

"Where did you get this injury?" The soldier providing first aid to Gerald asked in a low voice.

Gerald grimaced in pain, but he still replied. "The giant zombie. It punched me."

The soldier furrowed his eyebrows, but he didn't say anything further.

However, Gerald's teammates were worried.

"Sir, don't worry! He is not infected! I assure you that!"

"That's right! We were fighting the zombies since a few hours ago and we noticed that the virus would only be transferred through bite and scratch."

The soldier who was treating Gerald stared at them and said. "Relax. I'm just asking some questions. After you guys are taken back to the base, you will be quarantined for 3 days. The doctors will also check if you are infected or not."

"Sir, we are not-"

Gerald raised his hand weakly and said. "It's fine. We will follow your arrangements." He knew that the leaders must have thought of this to make sure that the virus wouldn't spread to the base.

The search for Mark's body took longer than they had anticipated and when they discovered him, he had already turned into a zombie.

Sigurd stared at the zombified Mark and said. "Leave this to me."

The soldiers lowered their weapons upon hearing his words.

Sigurd sheathed his sword and grabbed the dagger strapped to his right leg. He then walked slowly towards Mark and stabbed the side of his head with the dagger.

Sigurd grabbed Mark's corpse and carried him as he said. "Let's go."

Suddenly, Arlan communicated with him through the earpiece. "Take the corpse of the giant zombie and bring it back here."

Hearing this, Sigurd nodded his head. "Yes, boss."

"Tell the people upstairs to retrieve the giant zombie's body. The boss said that we need to bring it back to Last City." Sigurd told his subordinates.

"Yes, sir!"

Inside the command center of Last City.

"Mr. Roa, why would you want them to bring a zombie corpse here?" Lieutenant General Rivera asked with a serious look. He felt that it was not a good idea to bring back a zombie corpse.

Arlan stared at the commanding general and replied. "We need a sample to study the virus. That giant zombie would be a good specimen for our researchers. In fact, I think we would need to bring back more zombie corpses in the future."

Lieutenant General Rivera didn't think that Arlan had already thought far ahead. "I see, but we should be careful in handling them."

"Of course!" Arlan nodded his head. "That's why I had the De Guzman Family make our lab on a separate island so you can rest assured, general."

Lieutenant General Rivera was surprised by this. "You are truly wise, Mr. Roa."

Arlan blushed in shame. He didn't come up with this idea. It was Winter's plan to build the lab on a separate island. However, Arlan didn't clarify this matter and he just smiled at the commanding general.

"What do you think of Sigurd, general?" He quickly changed the topic.

Hearing this, the commanding general's face turned serious all of a sudden. The support team sent to rescue the group in Cebu was equipped with recording devices so everyone inside the command center witnessed everything they did.

The elite soldiers weren't even flustered when facing the terrifying zombies. They just shot them down with a bullet each to the head. On the other hand, Sigurd was even more impressive. He eliminated the zombies with his broadsword and his marksmanship was also off the charts.

"Sir Sigurd's skill with the sword is very excellent. He also has a great marksmanship. The soldiers under him are also skilled. I noticed that their physical strength is beyond the normal limits." He stared at Arlan's face when he said this.

Arlan smiled at his words. "You have sharp eyes, general. Indeed, the strength of those soldiers had already exceeded the level of normal people. That is because of a serum I discovered."

"A serum?" The commanding general frowned.

"Don't get me wrong. It's not like the illegal stuff that you are thinking. This serum is different. It can increase one's physical constitution upon injection and the best thing about this is that it has no negative side effects." Arlan's words shocked the commanding general.
