——(POV third person)——

While Li Huang said his goodbyes to others and walked toward the meeting place, Lai Xinyue too had plans of her own.

As every heavenly sword sect's disciple and Li family members were walking toward their residents, Lai Xinyue walked forward and after she was right beside Hu Anjing, she asked a question.

"Senior sister, I want to sell an item to a shop, is it possible for me to go there now?" she asked. She had found some items in the trial that have no use to her so she was going to sell them but the problem was that these auctions were not interested in them. There was also an auction operator that told her that as her items are basically raw materials, it would be better for her to sell them to a shop as they would offer her higher prices and that is what she is going to do.

Hu Anjing was not surprised to hear this as she knew about this beforehand but something stopped her from agreeing to this. She remembered what Li Huang told her about the situation that they are in, she knew that there is going to be a war soon so she was afraid that something would happen to Lai Xinyue.

"You can go but on one condition." Hu Anjing said.

"Please tell me, senior sister." Lai Xinyue said without much emotion on her face.

Hu Anjing took 20 or so scrolls out of her storage ring and handed them to Lai Xinyue without telling her anything. Li Huang gave her a lot of scrolls and seeing the situation, she knew that it was the wisest move as she couldn't tell anyone about the news that Li Huang gave her.

"Use these if something unexpected happened and rush back to our resident, alright?" Hu Anjing said and put a hand on Lai Xinyue's hand.

"Yes, I will rush back if something unexpected happens." Lai Xinyue said and nodded. With this Hu, Anjing was sure that she wouldn't be in danger as the city is supposedly very safe. With the scrolls added, Lai Xinyue would be really hard to combat as she is hard to hit and now she is hard to catch.

"Good, now go." Hu Anjing smiled and said. Lai Xinyue bowed and started walking toward the shop that she was pointed to.

Unbeknown to her, Two elders of the heavenly sword sect were following her from a safe distance. They were tasked by elder Zhong Zedong to make sure that all of the disciples make it to their resident and in the case someone is separated from the group like now, two elders should follow them. Of course, they did so for Li Huang too until he entered the residence of grandmaster Huili.

The elders were not walking stealthily as it was common for the sect elders to be in the street and it was not that uncommon for them to be guarding a disciple, so if someone were to see that they were following Lai Xinyue, it was not something out of common.
"Welcome to the Golden Phoenix pagoda." The employee welcomed Lai Xinyue the moment she put a foot on the stairs of the pagoda. This pagoda was one of the main buildings of the Feng family in the five river city where they would buy and sell items outside of the auction format. For an employee of such a place, it was easy to understand in a glance that Lai Xinyue is a disciple of the heavenly sword sect.

Lai Xinyue just nodded lightly as she didn't know what else would be appropriate in this situation.

Soon another employee came to Lai Xinyue who had just entered the pagoda. This place had so many employees that they could afford to give each customer a personal guide for the duration that they are in the pagoda.

"Welcome, please let me know if I can help you." The employee politely said.

"I want to sell a few items here." Lai Xinyue said with a stoic face.

"Yes, of course. Please follow me." The employee said and gestured Lai Xinyue to a counter where people would go to evaluate their items and get a price tag for them.

When they were near the counter the employee bowed and left Lai Xinyue to speak with the clerk.

"Please give me the items that you want to sell for evaluation." The clerk said and waited for Lai Xinyue to give him the items.

Lai Xinyue just nodded and put a few high-grade materials on the table to sell. These were either alchemy materials or they were used in armors and such.

It took the clerk about a minute to check all the items and give Lai Xinyue the price.

"These materials are in total worth 500 high-grade spirit stones." The clerk said. There was some clerk who would give the clueless customers like Lai Xinyue lower price and they would pocket the rest of it for themselves. Of course, such behavior was not accepted and these clerks would be punished, but it would only work if they were caught so if they were not caught, it was all good.

"I see… 500 high-grade spirit stones…" Lai Xinyue said, her facial features were so cold that the clerk felt the temperature decrease a few degrees. She was so shocked by the amount of money that she was going to receive that her mind couldn't process it, and she lost that minimal amount of emotions that she would usually show on her face.

This in turn made the clerk think that Lai Xinyue knew that these items were worth more so he tried to fix the situation fast.

"Forgive me, it seems that I have missed a few items. The total is 1,000 high-grade spirit stones." The clerk said as fast as he could. He didn't want to lose his job so he decreased his cut of the money.

Lai Xinyue who was happy with 500, was lost for words and thought that she heard it wrong.

"…Can you repeat that again?" She could not believe that such a thing would happen. This amount of money would solve many of her problems so she had to ask again to confirm.

The clerk was sweating now. He was scared that he would really lose his job today so he decided to go all out and ignore his cut altogether.

"I meant to say 5,000 high—" He was about to complete his sentence that sound of something tearing through the air stopped him from continuing.

Moments before on the adjacent table, the clerk was talking with a customer who wanted to sell a new weapon that he created himself. This weapon was a javelin thrower that would throw six javelins when you pull its trigger. The clerk didn't see any practicality in is so they were arguing.

"This is really useful for anyone as even the civilians can use it!" the man said and defended his creating. It was one thing to sell it at a low price but to hear it is useless was too much for him.

"This isn't useful at all, I mean how can this do any damage?" the clerk said and pulled the trigger. What he didn't know was that the weapon was loaded with javelins.

"Don't!" The man shouted but the clerk had already pulled the trigger. The next instant the javelins were on their way to where Lai Xinyue was.

She moved her body subconsciously and dodged five of the javelins. The sixth one was heading straight for the clerk's head so she coated her hand with her Qi and stopped it a few inches from his temple.

The elders who were observing Lai Xinyue had already rushed here to help her but she didn't need much help.

The clerk who pulled the trigger was white as a sheet and the clerk who was just saved from certain death was shivering.

"I'm sorry, what was the price again?" Lai Xinyue asked calmly. She didn't care about the javelins and all she cared about was the amount of the spirit stones that she was about to receive.

With the elders standing behind her, the clerk had no choice to up the price and add a hefty compensation to it.

"20—20,000 high-grade spirit stones." He said and shakily handed Lai Xinyue spirit stones.

She took them and left the pagoda, she was still shocked by everything that happened but she was not going to question it.
