Chapter 85 - What A Maniac

'Shit, shit, shit!' Suraja, aka Dragon_2, cursed in his mind as he feverishly chased Lady Neia and the boy on her back.

It infuriated him to no end that a human child was riding on the back of the Dragon Princess, but that wasn't the problem right now.

Earlier, he had a perfect opportunity at his hands; he could have been the one to capture the Dragon Princess and bring her back to his village, but it all went wrong.

And it had been the fault of that child. Yes, if that stupid child had just stayed still, Suraja could have become the Hero of his village.

But no, the concept of not doing anything stupid and staying out of harm's way seemed to be too foreign to the child.

He did get the just reward for his actions; his left arm had been lopped off.

But that wasn't enough to quell Suraja's anger; the kid had to die for ruining his plans.

However, even though Suraja was frantically chasing after the Dragon Princess, he knew that he would not be able to catch up to her. After all, she was famed as the fastest Dragon in her clan.

What he could do, however, was to chase them to ensure that the Princess would not have the time to heal the boy.

Even if he could not catch the Princess, he would kill the human child.

However, while he had heard of her excellence in the art of flying, experiencing it in reality was a different thing altogether; the Princess was proving to be a bit too fast for him.

"Hup!" He suddenly took a sharp left turn after the Princess did the same.

Before he could catch his breath, the Princess prepared herself for a right. Suraja did the same, but the Princess suddenly took another left.

Suraja couldn't follow on time, thus increasing the distance between them even more.

The Princess made those turns and feints look easy, but as the one pursuing her, Suraja felt it in his bones that they were anything but that.

The distance between them was constantly increasing.

If this continued on, she would soon lose him and end this game of chase. He could not let that happen.

But there was nothing he could do. He could try firing a Dragon Breath, but in doing so he would hurt the Princess, which would be a speedrun to losing his head.

He kept thinking and thinking, but could not draw up a plan or strategy to catch the Princess or kill the human child.

'Oh, lord, please help me…' Suraja prayed in his desperation, but even he knew that prayers did not work that way.

However, as if the Heavens had heard his wish, the speed of the Princess decreased.

The decline was ever so slight, but in a chase like this, a small difference like this was all that mattered.

With a renewed will, he squeezed out all the remaining mana left in his body and flapped his wings even more, hoping to make use of the opportunity the Heavens had bestowed upon him.

His hard work seemed to pay off; the distance between them was slowly but surely decreasing. The turns and feints of the Princess weren't as nasty as before either.

If this continued on, Suraja just might be able to catch up to the Princess.

Just then, he saw the boy looking back at him from the Princess' back, and licked his lips with a sneer as he thought of the ways he would tear apart the child.

Then, as if the Heavens were punishing him for letting his mind wander away from his true objective, the Princess' speed increased again.

'No!'

It wasn't as much as before, but they were now flying at the same speed.

Then suddenly, before Suraja could think of any way to catch up to her, the Princess tilted her body and headed straight up vertically.

'W-what?' Confused only for a moment, Suraja followed her nonetheless, thinking this to be another of her plays to lose him.

However, from the moment she started going up, the Princess had abandoned using any turns to throw Suraja off.

'What is she planning?' That rang alarm bells in his head.

The fact that the kid was fiddling with something atop her back didn't bode well to him either.

So, he kept his guard up and continued to follow them.

They were just a pair of a Princess who had zero attack power and a human child, but he was not going to make the same mistake of underestimating them again.

Now that he thought about it, the kid was probably trained by the Princess; how else could he cause a Mana Explosion so swiftly?

Having raised the evaluation of the kid, he followed them.

The chase was currently in a stalemate, which meant it was about time one of them did something to gain an advantage.

As Suraja was thinking of what he could do, the boy, with a long, stick-like tool in his hand, suddenly jumped from the Princess' back.

The boy spun multiple times in the air while doing some sick flips, as if he was the love child of a Ballerina and a Traceur.

'What?!' Before Suraja could make any sense of the boy's actions, the boy placed a part of the stick like tool at his eyes.

The next moment, with a deafening roar, the end of the tool exploded.

The very next moment, something hit Suraja's head and blew it apart.

'Wha…' Suraja simply could not understand what had just happened.

What was that stick like tool? How could it just pierce his defences so easily and blow his brains out? Where did the boy find such a dangerous tool?

No longer having the strength to use magic or flap his wings, Suraja's powerless body began to fall down along with the boy.

'You…' As the sounds around him vanished and the light of life faded from his eyes, he saw the bloodied boy wink at him.

The tool in his hand had exploded and blew away his right arm as well, but the boy looked completely unfazed.

'What a maniac…' With that, Suraja closed his eyes, never to open them again.
