Karyk walked towards the Gate of the Royal City, accompanied by the General.
Although no one saw Karyk's face thanks to his mask, they saw his attire and the emblem on his chest. Seeing that, their faces went pale.
Shivering, they opened the door with great respect before moving aside.
They did manage to recognise the General as well. It had been a long time since they last saw him. They were surprised that he was still alive as they had thought he would've been dead since he didn't return until now.
Since the General was accompanying a Shadow Guard, they didn't ask questions. They believed it must be known by the Emperor anyway. A Shadow Guard only listened to the Emperor after all.
As he approached the city gates, Karyk was greeted by the sight of bustling streets filled with people from all walks of life.
Merchants displayed their wares, their voices blending into a lively symphony of trade. Citizens hurried to and fro, going about their daily routines, while the aroma of freshly baked bread and exotic spices wafted through the air.
For the most part, it appeared like an ordinary City, completely unlike the Royal City of a higher species.
