Chapter 564 Horses-1
Nelson was someone the family hired because of his prolific background dealing with animals. He wasn't highly educated or was big on business, he was a farm boy that just loved doing what he did because of it he wasn't keep with following social etiquettes.
But getting hired by the Rothschild meant that he had to do some tweaking with his personality if he wanted to keep getting paid enormous amount of money and keep interacting with best horse breed on the planet.
Just him entering the estate was enough of a shock when he first came for the interview. Coupled with all the amenities provided for the position even his family urged him to be respectful. Now that he had finally met the supposed heir of the family, it was only cordial to be respectful but when Samuel refrained him from doing it, he got to his original self.
" Is she coming inside too? I have to say I am not happy with the idea of her getting too close to some of the horses. She might get hurt. But the bigger question is what's with this baby deer?"
" We can talk about it later and don't worry about the horses, I am familiar with them. If they get too aggressive I will pull her out immediately." Samuel thought it was best if they talked alone about the baby deer.
" Hey, you are the boss. I only saying it out of worry." Nelson didn't pester him anymore and walked him inside. Normally the horses were let to run around as they pleased but during the night they inside their separate shed.
Nelson was surprised with how much smarter they were compared to other horses that he dealt with in the past. They didn't need to be called and would return on their own. Even taking care of them easy with how calm they were but there were few exceptions, Sjor the largest breed was especially tricky.
With her head to toe with a height of surpassing six feet, maybe she just instilled so much fear in the caretakers that they would jump back on her every little movement. Only Nelson was able to withstand her presence which meant he had to be the one to take care of her.
They walked inside and the first thing they saw was couple of foals running around chasing each other. They were black with white spots on them but the eye catching thing were their long hairs that swayed as they played with each other.
" Moxie and Phoenix seem as lively as I remember. They grew up a lot over past few months." Samuel commented. Meanwhile Elise eyes were shining looking at the horses, she had often heard about them in princess stories and her first time looking at them immediately made her fall in love!
Nelson asked everyone to take a break, they were mostly done and with Samuel here it was getting uncomfortable for them to work. After greeting him with a bow they left early. He opened the gate to led three of them inside.
Elise was getting restless, Samuel was grabbing her hands so that she didn't rush and surprise the horses. It could get ugly and he didn't want her to get hurt.
Hearing the commotion, other horses started arriving one after another. Snowball, the grey Andalusian Horse;?Buckeye, the tiny dusty white Arabian Horse; Pepper caramel-colored Quarter Horse breed with her eye catching chocolate hair.
There were now five of them including the sisters Moxie and Phoenix looking at strangers coming to their home. After few months with Nelson they got comfortable around him but it was rare when he brought new people.
Only Grayson and few other family members loved horse-riding but they also had fixed schedule no one came so early in the morning. Looking at the five ponies that were almost turning into adult, Samuel felt happy seeing they were being treated with love.
Another familiar figure decided to show itself up, King Irish thoroughbred that he got as a present for Grayson. He was still as timid as he remembered but knowing it's origin, Samuel knew he would become a terrifying stallion in few years.
Both parties stayed still, Samuel waited for them to come to him but it seemed like they were still hesitant. It seemed like they already forgot about him?
" Can't I touch them?" Elise asked.
" They still don't know you. You should wait for them to approach you first, that way you will not scare them."
" Am I scary? I am not scary?" Elise didn't even know how to process the information. She looked toward the baby deer trying to see if she scared animals but the deer only turned his head sideways?looking innocently at her.
Samuel suppressed his laughter but Nelson went ahead and started laughing." hahaha, I am sorry but..hahaha." Elise pouted, seeing them making fun of her. She stomped her feet and faced away which meant she was done talking with either of them!
"I am sorry, kid, it's just-"
" I am not a kid! My name is Elise!"
" Yes, Elise, I am saying they are just spooked to see you for the first time. They were scared when I first met them too!" Nelson tried to redeem himself which seemed to be working.
" He is right, just give them some time. I am sure they would like to play with you too, didn't it take few minutes to be friends with her too?" Samuel pointed toward the baby deer. She finally accepted their explanation and waited for them to come to her.
*neigh* Suddenly they heard a large noise coming from a distance. Other horses got scared and started shuddering in fear under the mighty roar.
Sjors, the Friesian breed, the final member of the ranch showed herself in all her glory. She was black from head to toe but when Samuel saw the look on her face, he knew something was wrong.
" Elise get back! Nelson protect the children!" He immediately pulled Elise back and ordered Nelson with a stern look.
