Chapter 555 Deer?-3

After dinner, Elise soon began to feel sleepy, but she didn't want to leave her new friend, who was already asleep after having a warm bowl of milk.

The girls tried to give it cow milk but Samuel stopped it because he knew that would either give her diarrhoea or straight out death. It was because they couldn't process it, which was why they either needed goat milk or a unique formula.

The girls were pretty shocked learning the titbits about animal husbandry; none of them had ever experienced a farm and had yet to visit the family ranch, which Samuel was planning to take them tomorrow just to have some fun with the horses that he hadn't seen in weeks.

Fortunately, Peter had stocked up on a lot of things. As soon as Samuel called him, he sent out a few people to give food to the little animal. She drank the whole bowl, probably because she was starving, and soon began snoozing in Samuel's lap.

" You have to go to bed, it's almost time to sleep." Mayra nudged the sleeping princess.

" But I want to stay with her." She rubbed her eyes but refused to go to sleep.

" She will be here tomorrow. Look at her; she is already asleep. Shouldn't you do the same? That way, you can wake up early to play with her."

"..okay." She was sad but understood the logic: when she slept, time moved faster! In the end, Mayra was able to take her upstairs to freshen up before bed. They liked to brush together; it was a bonding moment when Elise would talk to her the most.

Adele and Iblis also left hurriedly, which was out of character for them since they liked to help with the dishes. It was Samuel's time to clean up, he went to the kitchen and started sorting out everything. For him, cleaning was becoming an excellent chore to just forget about everything and decompress for the day.

With his mind constantly filled with a million things, it was many times worse than any average person's because of his innate ability. It was a miracle he was not distracted in the middle of the day or shut down completely; it was only possible because he had the system.

Within minutes, he restored the messy kitchen to its previous pristine condition; after washing his hands and coming back to the living room, he saw the baby deer sleeping peacefully on the sofa, which was stained with dirt.

With so much happening so quickly, they didn't even have a chance to clean her up. He looked around and saw dirt marks everywhere; a few were Elise's, but most of them were hoof marks. The house was recently furnished with light, matching colours, so the stains looked a lot worse.

" I guess I have to call someone to do a through cleaning first thing in the morning." He talked to himself.

" But, what should we do with you now?" He didn't know where to leave her. With it being so young, it was bound to be awake within a few hours and would also need food at regular intervals. He knew he couldn't leave it in the garage, not that this house had any, but he needed to keep it close.

He looked around the house and saw a few empty boxes; they were the remnants of hasty furnishing of the house. He took the smaller container and cut it in half from the top in an excavator bucket-type shape. He gathered a lot of blankets and stuffed them full to provide some padding.

He was able to make a makeshift bed for the fawn within minutes. He went back to the kitchen and brought out a bowl in case it got thirsty at night. He gently picked up the little animal and laid it down in the box.

It did open its eyes slightly to see who disturbed it, but when it saw that it was Samuel, it simply closed its eyes and went back to sleep. It seemed to trust him enough to know that this human would never harm him. Samuel took this chance and cleaned the fawn's foot with a towel so that she didn't make a mess everywhere.

He carried it upstairs to his room and put the box in a corner where he could watch it all the time. He took a quick shower, and just when he thought he could get a little rest, someone spoke for the first time in a long time.

" This creature is truly a marvellous thing, it is the first time I had seen you actually noticing something new about your abilities." It was Apollo, the old fogey, that always popped out at unusual times.

" Don't you ever sleep? With how old you are isn't it normal to nap for few hundred years? That will give me a peace of mind!" Samuel exclaimed because he knew his mentor enjoyed scaring him to death!

"Gods don't sleep boy! I could but how can I enjoy watching my pupil finally achieve the pinnacle of everything in this realm!"

" That's your dream not mine. Beside why didn't you tell me that I can use my life force to feel even animal's intentions. Aren't you suppose to help me here?"

" Some things are best left for host to discover. That's what the Source's definition of everything is, it's great that you finally noticed it. It's a great power to have if you want to tame a mount. Even a phoenix would succumb to your charms; just imagine living for a few thousand years, but unfortunately, there are no magical beasts in this realm."

" That's is unfortunate because I am not a type of person that want to live forever. It sounds alluring but with everyone else gone, what's there to live for anyway?"

" Wise words but the thought of witnessing the future is what pull most humans toward immortality. Some didn't even think about anyone else but themselves, which only makes them miserable because, in the end, neither money nor power is enough to prolong one's life."

" I really didn't want to discuss philosophy with you this late at night. Give it to me straight, is there any drawbacks to this power? Will it prolong my life?"

Apollo was silent for a few seconds before saying," That depends on you. If you want to do it there are ways and in some respect, you already know about it. But I believe your character and know that you wouldn't harm anyone else because of this."

It's not like Samuel didn't understand where he was coming from; manipulating life force was a top-tier ability. What's more intriguing was that he could potentially transfer it from one person to another and even heal their injuries.

It did take a lot of toll on his body and mind, but he was able to do it because of his access to magic; there was one other possibility that he didn't even like trying. Squeezing out a human being's life force and putting it in someone dead. If he was a madman, he would have experimented with it, but he knew that life and death were natural. Any deviations from them would only result in catastrophic disruptions in the current timeline.

It was only an inkling, but he knew even if he did lose someone, he should never try to bring them back in any case. With so many threats looming on the horizon, he was aware that he would have to face death again; even the end of his comrades was not out of the picture. In those times, he had to stay strong so as to not make any stupid decisions.

" Don't dwell on it too much. As far as I know, you have a great fortune because our blessings. Just look at how great you are doing, living with a house full of women with one another set to arrive in few days you will hardly have anytime to think about anything else other than-"

" Alright stop! There you go again messing up the serious mood! I get it the titles and the fate but that doesn't matter to me. It's fortunate that they understand my intentions without me openly saying it."

" You are worried about that? If you knew truly what your fate entrailed.... I guess you have to find about it on your own. I will leave you to it, just remember our conversation and keep it at the back of your mind. I am sure you will make the right decision at the end of it all." Apollo left after saying something cryptic like usual. Samuel didn't know what he did, but it was probably something stupid because he was seeing him talk more and more like a native of this world.

He dried his hair and proceeded to make the bed to finally relax. He looked at the deer in the corner, which was still sleeping, and knew that he probably had to wake up in the middle of the night to feed it.

It was better for him to take a few hours rest as he was feeling tired from a long day's work. He turned off the light and went to bed, but just as he closed his eyes for a few minutes, he felt the bed move a little. He opened his eyes and looked down to see someone wiggling around inside his sheets.
