Chapter 553 Deer?
As soon as he entered the living room, he heard loud music playing. It was coming from upstairs from Adele's room. It was a melodies tune that was a lot different than the pop music she usually listened to.
" Do you know where your aunt is?" He asked the little girl. She shook her head sideways.
" Alright, take this and safely put it in your room. Just remember where you put it alright?" He put Elise down and handed her the pink bag. It was a little dirty because she statshed it near where the construction material were lying around.
With no one really cleaning the house aside from pool area and the back of the house, most of the places were accumulating dirt. He made a mental note to ask someone to come over and headed upstairs.
Most of the rooms in the house were locked because they were not finished. This section was finished in hurry which was why there were many amenities still missing, the huge one was proper sound proofing.
Due to that reason, Elise's room was in the left most corner away from everyone else which Adele took the middle section room and rest in the most right section of the wing. The section was also slightly curved, Samuel didn't know why but as his uncle told him, it meant better view for all the rooms as it was overlooking the small back garden that was directly connected to the forest in the distance if one ignored the large walls encroaching the entire house.
With Elise and other children running around, they didn't want them to be lost and to prevent that Peter decided to clear and large portion of area around the house only keeping one section that was nearer to the pool.
But from top overarching balcony, it was hard to notice the empty area because the angle was specifically aligned to make it appear that the whole house is in the actual woods. If they walked around the premise it was easy to notice it.
He reached her room to see it was wide open, he went inside and saw there was no one inside which was odd but that's when he heard few people talking. He looked for the source and it was coming from outside in the back garden.
He saw, three of them hunching over something in the distance. There was actually a large gate which was open most of the time from where one could access the back of the property. They were hurdling around at the gate.
He went to see what they were doing there as the sun was starting to set. He went downstair and passed by Elise who was already glued to the television. She already learned how to operate the remote herself. He gave her a light pat before heading outside.
" What are you guys doing here?" He asked. With their backs against him, they filched for a minute due to his surprised presence but immediately three of them put the finger infront of their lips to motion him to keep his voice down," Shuush."
" What? Why?" He looked cluelessly but when he looked down, he saw a small deer crouching over looking at the new person with tall ears, which was a sign of alert.
" We spotted it few minutes ago lurking around the garden. We came downstairs to take a closer look when it approached us out of the blue." Mayra began to explain in whispers so that she didn't spook the tiny creature.
" It's so cute! Look it even licked my hand!" Adele merrily showed the wet spots in her hand.
" I really want to hold it in my arm but just the thought of her running away is painful." Iblis added. They seemed like the unexpected little visitor but Samuel was more worried if there was already a hole in the parameter.
It's only been few days since the deer horde had been let loose in the forest with grey wolves scheduled to arrive any minute. If there was really a breach, wouldn't that mean the wolves would be next to visit?
" That's good and all but how did this little fella get here?"
" It's probably because of loud music, I heard animals react to it." Iblis said.
" Yeah, they run away. The more important question is where is her mother? Looking at the size of this thing, it's only a couple of weeks old." Samuel scooted down and picked up the animal. Surprisingly, it didn't struggle and simply accepted his touch.
Samuel could somehow tell that it wasn't afraid of him as it curiously looked him in the eye.
" Waah, I want to hold it too!" The girls began to clamor seeing him interact with the little deer so casually. If they would have known she wouldn't run away, they would be the one to do it first!
" Alright, here." Samuel tried to give it to Iblis who seemed most eager to hold it but she simply turned her head away from Iblis showing she didn't want to leave his embrace.
" She clearly doesn't like you, let me try it." Adele stepped up but the result was the same. Even Mayra tried it but the thing was adamant on not leaving Samuel.
" Hahaha, I guess I am the most liked one." Samuel chuckled looking at their defeated expression.
" That's not fair!"
" Why does she like him already? We were here first! I even brought over some grass and fed her!"
" Maybe he look like her mother, she is clearly a white tail deer and Samuel has white hair. The similarities are uncanny!" Mayra made a stupid remark but with Samuel down three to one, he could only endure their ridiculous comparison.
" Alright enough! We have to find her mother and return her back to the wild or maybe we can pull out the barbecue to have nice roasted venison?"
" That's cruel!"
"' How can you say that?"
" You really trusted the wrong person, deer. He is about to eat you!"
They reprimed him for his sick sense of humor but what's surprising was Samuel felt that the deer also understood him. He could feel the fear growing inside of the little thing, it's not like the animal understood him but it could somehow react to his emotions.
The ability to sense life and manipulate some of it seem to be basis of few of his titles. He could also tell about other human's intentions toward him which had saved him from getting into trouble in the past but he never really interacted with animals before.
Maybe he gained new titles or power, he hadn't really paid much attention to his ability status in quite a while. It's not like he didn't want to be powerful but over the years he decided to take things slow and grow more naturally only strongly focusing on his elemental abilities.
It was to protect him from any potential danger but other than that, other titles seemed to grow more powerful as he reached his peak. He could ask Apollo about it but that old fogey would only harass him by probing into his personal life.
" It's fine, I will not eat you. Calm down." He could see the little fellow getting impatient and decided to calm her first. It seemed to work, he put the little thing down first and began to think what to do with her.
The problem was the little thing didn't want to leave his side, she simply walked and settled beside his leg. The girls tried to call to her but she was still ignoring them hiding behind Samuel. They began running around in circles trying to get her attention but she was not having it.
" Alright! Everyone stop! She clearly doesn't want to go near any of you! I will call someone and deal with the issue." Samuel exclaimed in frustration. It was already getting dark outside, he needed to resolve the issue before it spiraled out of control.
He started walking inside as four of them followed behind him. He looked like the leader of the herd with deer following behind him closely and the three girl right behind her trail.
He entered the house and thought the deer would fear the unknown environment but it didn't happen she went inside without hesitation. Samuel searched for his cellphone to call the people responsible for patrolling the perimeter but all hell broke loose when Elise got her eyes on the thing.
She came trudging down the hallway looking curiously to the small animal standing beside Samuel.
" Will she be the one?"
" I don't know, she is at least looking at her curiously."
" Oh my god! This is too cute! Imagine them running around together? Should we just keep her?" The girls began to whisper with bated breath as two small creatures approach each other.
She wasn't saying anything, it must be because she never saw a deer in her life. She mostly seen dogs and normally they would approach her voluntarily but deer were more cautious animals. Samuel was on the phone looking at this scene, he too was curious about what they would do.
" Sami? What's that?" Elise finally asked.
" It's a deer, if she likes you she will let you pat her."
" What if she doesn't like me?" Elise grabbed Samuel's pants as she looked at deer doing the same thing on the other side of his leg.
