Chapter 474 Rescue-3

It was almost sundown, the heavy shadows cast upon the colorful and ancient buildings slowly descending into darkness with each passing minute. Few people were walking by on the main street, cutting through the dilapidated buildings, but there was more of a passerby going to and fro from one place to another.

It was the old district of Paris, mainly inhabited by unfinished projects and old factories like sugar and rubber factories from the past. With the Industrial Revolution, most of these businesses were moved overseas due to cheap labor.

Samuel was walking nonchalantly toward his destination; he could feel everything, even the movement of small insects. His mind was working overtime, crunching through the data that he was gathering due to his abilities.

He was just turning up in the alley that would directly lead him to the dinky motel, which was made into a temporary fortress as a base of operation for the individuals who took Elise. He fished for a gun strapped inside his pants and took it out.

Checking his weapon for a second, he nodded and slowed down his movement. He was carrying a Glock 17 9mm with a special attachment developed in-house by Rothschild Corporation. The extension was rectangular and perfectly fit the barrel, and unlike a typical suppressor, it came with a notch to attach a red dot if he needed one.

His pistol was also custom-made, used by a family security detail in case of covert operations, and was highly tested in the field. He also had quite a lot of experience wielding most of the firearms in the world, so it was child's play for him to hit moving targets a hundred meters away!

He pulled up a mask and a cap to completely cover his face, his clothes were also dark to mask his fast movements but he knew it wouldn't be enough. He was about fifty meters away from his first target and knew they were carrying heavy equipment and something that resembled a positioning device. He wouldn't be shocked to see they already boobytrapped the area to fish for intruders. He didn't know what it was yet, but he could feel the movement in the balcony leading inside the alley.

There were five teams of two stationed randomly all throughout the area. Most of the neighborhood was empty, but he could discern their identity based on how they moved through his senses. The closest group that faced the main road consisted of one overseeing the alley and another on the laptop monitoring something.

His life force detector had come a long way since he obtained the title; previously, it only showed a blob of light whenever he activated it, but now he could faintly 'see' them as shadows and more accurate movements with pinpoint accuracy.

Samuel checked his vicinity, saw no one, and looked nearby. He was twenty meters from his first target, a duo about ten meters above ground. One person was looking around while another one was busy handling the equipment. They were talking; it was barely audible, but with his superior hearing, he caught them speaking in a foreign language that was not French.

" We are moving out so fast? Why are they in such a hurry?"

" I don't know. They said there was an unknown threat, but I call bullshit! I just want my money! If we could stay for two more days, imagine how much more we could earn!"

It looked like they were not from the main force; they were speaking Belarusian, an East Slavic language. Samuel didn't care, they were an obstacle that he needed to neutralize without making noise. It was good that they were talking like their mission was done, which meant they were not on alert like usual; if he was fast enough, he could clear all five teams without any reinforcement issues.

Samuel jumped up directly, leaping five feet in the air, and activated his magic shield all over his body. With his current prowess, he could maintain it for a few hours if he pushed himself, which was more than enough.

He landed like a cat below the third floor and grabbed the ledge on his second jump. He was undetectable up to this point, so he quickly pulled out his sidearm and turned off the safety. Doing a backflip, he stood directly in front of the man on the balcony; he couldn't even react before Samuel pulled the trigger, splattering his brain inside the room.

The second person reached for his gun, but it was too late; he was down mid-motion with a thump and started twitching. Samuel double-tapped him just in case and jumped directly on the roof. Due to narrow roads leading to the motel, every building was connected. A few feet were between them, but it was easy for him to jump across.

He was receiving constant updates from his team but still tracking them through his abilities. He was not saying anything because their first target was still a few hundred meters away, and he would probably infiltrate the base before they cleared everyone out.

He was reassured to know the team in the vicinity didn't seem to be highly trained like he anticipated. It looked like they were hired guns, which meant the main force was still at the base. His team would have an easier time since he would distract them first.

He started running, and the second team was across the street at the same elevation. He didn't feel the need to confront them directly and fired two shots, perfectly hitting their dome while running toward the third. These people didn't know what hit them before falling to the ground.

The third team was on top of the roof, and by the time he finished the second one, they had already seen him. One tried to radio in, so he shot him first from a meter range. The one in front of him could fire a few suppressed rounds from his rifle, but they were all blocked by his shield.

His body fell with a shock plastered all over his face, he couldn't understand how Samuel was unfazed till his last breath. The fourth team was sitting outside an obscure cafe, Samuel already checked for life signals and found no one inside the restaurant, probably because they were dead. It was right in front of the motel, so there were few more businesses around the area.
