" What!?" Samuel was confused. He had already ensured he was not dreaming, but how could this be? Kayla, whom he met, accidentally was married to Mayra, and since when was she like that?
" I am sorry. I wanted to tell you, but I don't know how..." Mayra knew, looking at his face, that he had no idea. She thought Kayla would tell him but was just messing with him.
" Hahaha, this is splendid, just as I expected. You are lost for words, right? How dare you covet my baby?!" Kayla grabbed her from the back and, while looking at him, smugly kissed her on the cheek. Her actions matched some thug showing their prized possession.
" But what about last night.." Samuel thought it was some sort of joke. He was sure what happened between them was pure sexual attraction, so how could she be into girls!
" What the fuck? What happened last night?" It was Kayla who snapped, looking at them.
" Well...before that Sami do you remember how we used to look at girls in the college park? I used to ask you for their measurements?"
" Yeah, and you would lose every time. I hate to admit it but I was pretty good at it."
" And what about the time when I said I can help you score some girls because I was close with them, do you remember?"
" Yes, but I thought you were joking back then...oh, everything makes sense now." Samuel seemed to have an epiphany. Mayra was a strange girl from the time he met her, she was not popular back then, probably due to her messy appearance, but she also got a few proposals and always rejected them.
Samuel was the exception, he thought her standards were high, and also, because she fixated on other girls, she might come off as standoffish, but he was utterly wrong. All her wild activities started to make sense now, but why did she never tell him?
" But why?"
" Why huh?" She walked over and stared at him from below, " Because even if I like girls more I always have a place in my heart for you." She raised her heel and kissed him on the cheek.
" You bastard! Get away from her!" Kayla came and snatched her off. The situation became more and more complicated after his appearance.
Kayla was not angry because of Mayra but for accepting the terms of their marriage. Strangely enough, she always knew about Mayra and Samuel's past, but it was hard to believe she was so close with such a celebrity. It was near impossible for them to meet again if Samuel didn't seek her out first, but it happened.
She knew Mayra's infatuation with him, so she foolishly agreed to give her a pass if Mayra ever encountered him in real life. It had already been a few years, and she was sure Mayra would forget about him, or he would find someone else, but now, before her very eyes, Samuel was flirting with her wife!
" Tell me what happened last night! Don't ignore me!" Kayla shouted, and because of this, Elise ran down the stairs because she knew Samuel was home.
" Sami~ Sami~ Sami~" She came running over, screaming her name. Just like her face, her voice was like melodies.
" Princess! I am sorry for leaving your side." Samuel carefully caught her before she tripped over and lifted her in his arm.
"Sami~," She said with a bright smile.
"Yes," Samuel also smiled at her.
"Sami~"
" Yes!"
"Sami~"
" Yes!"
"Sami~"
" Yes!"
" Elise, don't scream I am here right? Now does Princess want some juice and snack?" Samuel asked, gently stroking her head.
" Un!"
" Kayla, things that I brought can you give it to her?"
" Don't boss me around, I know what I need to do." Despite her saying that, it looked like she was guarding Mayra and trying to obstruct his vision.
" Fine. Elise is a good girl right? She can wait." He patted her head, and she began giggling in his embrace.
" When did she start talking?" Kayla asked.
" I was about to tell you. Since Sami arrived she is like a different person, I was so surprised when I went to pick her up but she can only say his name for time being."
" Humph, if I was here, I would have made her talk in few hours. I am good with children!" Kayla started undermining Samuel's achievement.
" Right, you are so capable like when you neglect Mayra."
" You bastard! I would have kicked your ass if Elise was not here."
" Oh, It seemed like you have some sort of misunderstanding. You would not be standing if they were not here!"
Sparks flew as they came closer; seeing that a fight was about to start, Elise looked nervously around, but before anything could happen, Mayra went to the rescue and smacked them both on the back of their head.
" Settle down! Are you children?"
" Che! Next time, you won't be so lucky."
" Hahaha, keep living the dream until I break that smug smile off your face!" They kept fighting with words, but nothing physical happened.
Kayla was distraught but couldn't find a chance to ask Mayra what happened last night. The sun was setting down, so Samuel went upstairs to freshen up. He ran around the city all morning, a little sweaty.
Elise kept following him, but he left her in Mayra's hand and went to wash up.

A few hours later, everyone gathered to have a meal at the dinner table. Mayra was the one that prepared it, and everything looked delicious.
" I could have helped you." Samuel sighed.
" It's alright, you have a lot on your plate right now. It's just a small gesture."
The star of the table was chicken biryani, which was Mayra's speciality. Biryani is one of the world's most well-known rice dishes, a staple of Pakistani and Indian cuisine. It could be topped with all sorts of viands like chicken, fish, or goat meat and was commonly eaten with a side dish of either eggs or spiced potatoes.
"Oh, it's biryani! That's my favourite. Were you thinking about me when you cooked it?" Kayla exclaimed. She lost several verbal battles but felt touched when she saw what Mayra cooked.
It was not an easy dish, and it took careful preparation and hours of cooking, so Kayla knew Mayra definitely put some effort into it!
" Aahaha, yes." Mayra chuckled awkwardly.
" Pfff.." Samuel couldn't hold his laughter.
" What's so funny!?"
" It just I remember Mayra's promise that she would cook me this in the future after I had it first time at her parents house. It's quite a coincidence." His smugness couldn't be denied.
After stating it, he returned to separating bone from the meat, making it easier for Elise, who was waiting on his lap.
" I-is that true?"
" I am sorry. He is a guest-"
" Fuck! I feel like I lost my appetite." She was about to stand up when Samuel whispered a few words in Elise's ears.
Samuel gently led her down, and she walked hesitantly toward Kayla and grabbed her pants. Elise was using her hands to eat as it was the proper way to eat biryani, so her hands were soaked in oil which transferred onto her pants too.
" What!"
" Don't.....go..sleep...together...." She said these words with a lot of difficulty.
" Hmm.."
" I don't want to bash you but we can talk it out later. For now can you stay for them?" Samuel also urged her. It was fun and games, but he didn't want to ruin their relationship over petty disputes.
" Right, honey stay. I added a lot of crispy onions just how you like it." Mayra also took the initiative to console her.
" Alright but it's not over!"
