Chapter 2: Chapter 2: I'll Compensate You
Jiang Lingzhi was stunned. A solid, male body was pressed against her back. Since it was summer, he was wearing a thin shirt and she could even feel the warmth of his body.
The person behind her had been remaining silent.
Jiang Lingzhi turned to the side a little, only to exchange glances with a pair of light brown eyes that seemed to contain the morning fog of winter.
The man behind her was wearing a white shirt with his cuffs rolled up, revealing his lean forearm, coupled with black slacks, and a pair of white sneakers.
He was very tall. He was a head taller than her, and when he raised his hand, he could easily grasp the hang ring above her head. At the same time, Jiang Lingzhi fell into his arms with her back facing him.
With such a close gap between them, she could even smell the faint but clean scent of mentholated tobacco coming from his body.
The clean scent of his body was particularly crisp and was lingering around the tip of her nose. It stood out amidst the horrendous odors around her.
"Brother Nan, it's a little girl from Nanyang High School!" said a person at the side.
The few boys were wearing the school uniforms of No. 36 High School, which was the school beside Jiang Lingzhi's. One of the boys had his hair dyed blond and was chewing some gum, looking like a hooligan.
Jiang Lingzhi quickly held onto the backrest of the seat next to her and moved out of his embrace to keep a distance between them. "I'm sorry."
It was still very crowded in the bus.
The furthest she could be away from him was 20 centimeters at most.
Jiang Lingzhi had heard many things about No. 36 High School, and her teachers had also advised them not to hang out with the students from that school next door.
She heard that their school was very chaotic and frequent fights were common occurrences.
Jiang Lingzhi wanted to stay away from them, but when she lowered her head, she realized that she had just accidentally stepped on the boy's white sneaker.
With her good upbringing, she quickly apologized to him, "I didn't do that on purpose. Since I've dirtied your shoes, I must compensate you. How much do they cost?"
Without a doubt, that boy had the most striking appearance. His features were defined, and he had a high nose bridge and a deep, dark pair of eyes that contained a look of indifference.
There were already girls at the side who were squealing and whispering to one another. "Quick, look at that guy, he's so handsome!"
"Ah! This one's really good-looking!"
That did not stop Jiang Lingzhi from being a little nervous.
She had heard that they were ill-tempered and would beat people up if they were angry!
The person next to her seemed to have noticed her nervousness and embarrassment. He placed his arm on the boy's shoulder smilingly and said, "Brother Nan, you've scared this little girl."
Hearing this, the boy looked down at her face and kept his eyes fixed on it for only less than a second before looking away indifferently at the window.
He didn't seem to have been affected by what had just happened.
Carrying her backpack in her arms, Jiang Lingzhi looked up at him and was relieved to discover that he did not blame her for stepping on his shoes and dirtying them.
When she raised her hand to grasp the hang ring above her head, she realized that someone else was already holding onto it.
It was the boy's hand that was wrapped around the ring. His hand was extremely fair and clean.
He was nothing like his friends.
However, Jiang Lingzhi was upset when she recalled them saying that they've scared her, the little girl.
Since she had nothing to hold onto, she had no choice but to carry her backpack with one hand and grab the backrest of the seat with the other. She muttered, "I'm not a little girl."
Her voice was so soft that only she could hear herself.
She had her hair up in a ponytail, and some of her hair was draped across her cheeks. Her fair nape was exposed.
The boys began joking and teasing her again, and their voices sounded again vaguely.
"Brother Nan, lucky you~"
"Hey, how come I have never experienced such a good thing!"
