Chapter 133 133. The Curse of the Bloody Hand

Of course Serena wanted to go against the orders of the Bloody Hand but how could such a thorough organisation not account for such circumstances?

Through the use of an elaborate concoction of poisons, secret flaws in their mana technique and some other secret techniques they had in effect left a secret back door in every trained assassin that allowed them to control their life and death and in doing so, controlling every action they made.

Because of this twisted fate and Serena's unfortunate talent in the very thing she hated the most, she was forced to walk a path of endless death and blood.

If it wasn't for a certain lucky incident she would have been forced to walk the path of death and destruction for the rest of her life.

Unfortunately for Serena or maybe even fortunately for her one of her missions ended up in a disastrous failure for her leaving her near death.

It was at that time she met one of the most influential people on the Continent, the future queen of the Great Empire!

It was unknown what words were exchanged between the two but for some reason, the Queen saw it not just fit to save this poor Assassin's life but even going so far as to use some vital treasures exclusively by the royal family to save this Assassin from the control of the Bloody Hand!

From that moment on, Serena had become the queen's shadow and blade; the only difference is that this time instead of assassinating humans her sword was directed at the most brutal and bloodthirsty and vicious of demons.

But now with the Demon King dead and the war with demons over there was no need for assassins anymore.

Although there were still some human enemies in light of her past trauma, the Queen decided not to use her to assassinate humans and retire her as an instructor in Sanctuary Academy.

This could have been a happy ending to a once tragic story; it's just that reality wasn't a fairy tale.

Such a thing may be possible for other people, but who was the Bloody Hand?

An assassination organisation so old and powerful that the records of their existence were blurry to even the empire, the strongest organisation on the continent.

It was impossible for even the methods of the empire to completely erase the hold of the Bloody hands techniques as their methods contained a particular curse that even the night of the empire failed to beat.

For unknown reasons the particular curse would cause the victims to be plagued by the ghosts or at the very least the illusions of the ghosts of the victims they have killed every single night they slept without fail and for someone like Serena who had a distinguished career as an Assassin, it was a horrific thing to experience.

If Serena was a cold-hearted psychopath she may be able to brush it off with ease but the thing that made the Queen save her from the clutches of the Bloody Hand was the same thing that made her suffer tremendously. Ironic really.

Her compassion and kindheartedness caused her to suffer immensely. The bloody wails and tortured screams and mountain of corpses would plague her every night.

It was like PTSD but on steroids. If it wasn't for some unique herbs that could dum down the effect and In some rare cases grant her some days of respite, Serena would have simply gone crazy.

But even so it was impossible to find a complete cure.

From the days she broke free of the control the words that the Bloody Hand had spoken to her as early as in the days of her training, to resound just in her mind

"From now You can't wash your hands of the blood you spill. The Bloody Hand will follow you forever."

It's because of this that regardless of her kind personality, Serena found it hard to teach and take students normally this would be enough to get any teacher kicked out but because of her unique situation with the Queen that was almost an open secret, nobody dared do such a thing.

The protagonist Landon had to go through a series of encounters and situations brushing up favorability before he dared to ask Serena to be his personal teacher but Lucius didn't have the time to do such a thing.

Her trauma caused by the blood hand is Serena's biggest weakness and that's also what Lucius was planning to use to his advantage.

With a shaky smirk on his face, Lucius stopped in front of a set of large double doors that led to a private training room and took a deep breath.

Maybe it was a habit from her times as an assassin but Lucius knew from the book that Serena always made time to do some reading every single day without fail.

Not wanting to hesitate anymore, Lucius strode forward and pushed the door open.

As soon as Lucius opens the door his eyes narrowed.

He didn't see anything particular but he felt a terrifying storm swirl around him, also t as if he was standing at the edge of a tornado!

But soon Lucius was horrified, he realised he did something, a back flicker so fast and insecure he was even having second thoughts that his eyes were playing tricks on him.

His jaw nearly dropped to the floor.

'Can… Can a person really move like that?'

But as soon as the thought came into his mind the storm of wind stopped as a figure emerged in the centre.

Suddenly a pair of cold black eyes as dark as night landed on Lucius as an equally as cold voice spoke out.

"Excuse me, can I help you?"

This time once again, Lucius's jaw nearly dropped to the ground but this time it was for a completely different reason!

"Gulp!"

It was uncouth and unexpected for some Lucius as destined to women to make such a blunder but Lucius was forced to do this.

He was afraid that if he did nothing, he might have even begun to drool!
