435 CH 421: YES OR NO?
Back to Adam and Lucia, his cold words filled the air,
"... You will just have to sell your body. Nothing much now, is it…?"
When Adam's words reached Lucia's ears, she was so surprised and shocked out of her wits that she was left utterly speechless. In fact, her first reaction was to award the young man with a flying slap for the vehement remark he had made.
However, looking at his cerulean eyes that appeared to be a bottomless pit to her and remembering the ever-burning flames lighting Boris' house up even at this instant, decaying everything into ashes, her reasoning and rational mind stopped her from committing what could have been a very foolish action.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Hum. You are a mother, are you not? Do I need to explain more pertaining to what I want? Or would you like me to use cruder words to instill it into that brain of yours?"
"Hah…"
She sighed heavily at that remark, realizing fully that the situation was indeed as bad as she had thought it to be.
"Hum. Your reaction is quite surprising. You were ready to sell your daughter for the peace of your family and gang. Why then are you reacting as if I am wronging you when I am merely asking for your body in return for the safety of your people? Isn't that sorely hypocritical?"
Lucia had absolutely nothing to retort to this statement.
"Furthermore, from what I have heard, the Mermaids are nearly as promiscuous as the Succubi, if not more in certain situations."
"Well…"
She bit her teeth, grinding them ever so slightly, before nodding her head, "That is indeed the case but that doesn't necessarily mean I would be happy trading my body like this now, does it?"
Sex and food were nothing but common commodities for the Mermaids but that was mostly for Mermaids of the olden times who used their songs to attract unsuspecting sailors and eat them after having their fill of sex to give birth to their offspring.
However, even then, that crude approach was done mostly for reproductive purposes rather than pure pleasure-related ones. That and dealing with their hunger, which also fell in the criteria of their sustainability.
"The Mermaids have changed."
"Huh, honestly, I don't really care whether the Mermaids have changed or not at this point. This is not the matter at hand after all. Will you or will you not heed my words?"
She took a deep breath before muttering with a sigh, "Will you rescind your protection if I refuse."
"No."
Adam shrugged as he said so nonchalantly that… he could see her eyes open wide in astonishment. He could only chuckle when he saw that incredulous facial expression of hers.
"Make no mistakes… While I am slightly coercing you now, having a physical relationship with a completely unwilling partner would be distasteful to me. This is why, I will not force you. Our deal was for the Divine Weapon and I am more than satisfied with what I have gotten."
"You do know that those talk about increasing longevity or increasing magic through sex with Mermaids are fake right? At most, you can get some boost to your stamina and lifespan with a virgin Mermaid but even then it's highly unlikely."
"Do you think I need a boost in my magic?"
He raised an eyebrow and she was unable to answer his question. Clearly, from what he had shown, power was the last of his problems.
"As for lifespan? Pfft~ Hahahahahaaa."
Adam laughed out loud, breaking into a fit of boisterous laughter. Why would someone who was already immortal search for a boost in their lifespan? That would be incredibly dumb of them. In fact, most in this situation would just think of ways to end their miserable existences. Immortality through a curse like his was anything but fun after all.
"My goals are beyond your understanding, little mermaid. Let's just say that I wish to test something out with this fraternizing act. Also, having sex with a beautiful woman who also happens to be a mermaid would be quite exciting too. So, that's a plus."
Lucia, despite her tanned complexion, flushed slightly at that remark. After all, while the situation was more or less complicated, there was no denying that Adam was a very handsome and attractive fellow even to a seasonal woman like her.
Furthermore, he was right in pointing out that she had not hesitated to sacrifice her daughter for the sake of her clan and in extension, herself.
'Though, could this even be considered a sacrifice?'
While the way this was brought up was indeed coercive, she wasn't completely against it. In fact, sex was the moment when an individual was in his most fragile state. This would perhaps be the best moment to try and ensnare him, to make sure that he did not hurt the interest of her family and clan.
'When was the last time I had a relationship?'
It had been quite a few years since the time she had fraternized with a man. As she aged and mastered her instincts, her interest in any relationship waned considerably. Even more so with how much stress she was under as the matriarch of her family.
'Very well.'
She breathed in deeply, causing her explosive bosom to shake ever so slightly and jiggle, and then looked at Adam with a certain resolution in her eyes,
"I am willing to give everything I have."
"Heh. Looking at you like this, one would think you are a sheep going to the slaughterhouse."
Adam grimaced slightly due to the wording that the mature mermaid used. He truly did not like the current situation in the least. Forcing a lady to reach a situation where she would have to sleep with him was not an act he advocated. But this was a perfect moment and he could not let it go.
… Even if he had to use coercive means and in a way blackmail her to do it. It was not something he wanted to do regularly but it would have to do for now since it was a very important experiment.
"Then, for now, why don't we have a nice night out? The day is approaching after all."
Lucia was quite surprised by his words. Seeing him grimace when she spoke with an almost dying voice, while she could see some lust in his eyes, she did not see the truly lascivious expression of those who sought to satiate their bestial urge at any cost.
In the first place, with his appearance and power, the last thing he would lack in this world would be women. She did not think that she was an otherworldly beauty who could coerce such a man into a state where he would actively seek her body, even going as far as to force herself.

For the first time in quite a long while, Lucia found herself intrigued about a man.
'Perhaps this night will be more interesting than I initially anticipated it to be.'
Such a scenario was beyond her expectations, but she might even enjoy it.
"By the way… You can change in your natural form, right?"
"As long as there is enough water, then yes. I can take my mermaid appearance."
"Oh…"
"Gasp~ Don't tell me—?"
"—Well, since were are going to do it, might as well try everything out, don't you think so?"
Adam laughed out loud, wondering what having sex with a woman who had a fishtail would feel like. It was worth trying out, wasn't it?
It would truly be an interesting experience in more ways than one, he deviously thought in his mind as he eyed the mermaid down with unadulterated interest in his eyes.
"Oh my~!"
She fanned herself a little. While Mermaids could take a human form, and were shapeshifters, there was no shapeshifter who considered their human form as their true ones.
It was weaker, slower, and far less sensitive.
The power difference between the two forms was simply too high and one felt like a prison while the other felt like freedom.
"There were very few humans who dared to try something like this. I hope you will not regret it."
She knew that there were always some deviant humans who might wish to try something more exotic.
So she was not particularly bothered. She simply decided to give a warning.
"As long as you do not try to eat me, then everything else is acceptable."
She coughed a little, "This is an old conduct. We do not eat humans anymore."
"Hum…"
Adam mused. He was truly wondering what would happen if he was actually devoured by someone.
Would he reform in their stomach?
'Well…'
This was something he wasn't particularly keen on testing. But well, everything for science.
Just not today.

A/N: Welp, I want to apologize. This chap was supposed to be smut. But I tried since yesterday and nothing. Not really feeling inspiration for smut. So smut is skipped for now. I will perhaps write the chapter later as a special chapter at the end of the volume if people are interested. Outside of my obvious lack of H energy currently, I believe that my pace is already pretty slow so adding smut now would only make things worse. I apologize once again. I want to finish this volume by the end of the month or at least the first week of next month. So I need to accelerate here.
