Chapter 411 CH 397: DANGER

[Thursday — 6th December 2030 — 08:30 pm] [1]

High in the sky, the moon hung quietly, slightly hidden by the dark clouds of the calm night sky, giving off an aura of desolation.

Beneath its clear light, humans went ahead with their daily activities, too busy with their own lives to care much about anything else in the world; not even the daily events surrounding them.

This was why, even in such a life filled to the brim with endless buzz, no one would care even if they heard the bloodcurdling screams that filled the air on the roof of a high-rise building.

The sound of a roaring beast mixed with that of flesh being torn apart, in a heart-wrenching display of animalistic violence, under the powerful claw of said beast. The odor of blood spreading and splashing against the wall and finally— the corpse of a man falling on the ground, completely disfigured, with half of his head missing and his limbs torn apart could be seen transpiring in this place.

Standing above the lifeless body of what had once been a healthy man, Natasha breathed heavily, her eyes flashing between red and blue, her shirt and jeans bathed in the scarlet blood of the man while her golden hair became completely frizzled in the aftermath of the inhumane display of violence.

"Shit…"

Natasha was angry. So angry that she couldn't help but curse under her breath again and again. Watching the corpse of the man in front of her only made her even angrier than before, and the impulse deep in her heart to simply completely tear him apart from limb to limb until there was nothing left of his existence before her eyes filled her heart.

"Sacha. This is enough."

Natasha stopped herself the moment she felt a hand on her shoulder and an oh-so-familiar voice.

It was then that she woke up completely from her blood lust and observed her surroundings with calmer eyes.

Around her… were a few of her maids that she was quite familiar with as they belonged to her entourage. But unlike usual they were simply wearing sleek black clothes that were easy to move around with rather than their maid uniforms.

Outside of them, there was also Aleksandra, watching her with a worried expression on her mature face, and finally, three men watching her with fear evident in their eyes. They were all tied up and kneeling as if they were waiting for their execution.

"I am sorry."

Natasha took a deep breath, her scarlet pupils finally going back to a simple shade of blue as she calmed down her raging emotions.

"Don't be… The full moon is approaching so even normal wolves are becoming agitated. Not to mention a natural Alpha like you…"

No matter whether they managed to overcome their inner wolves or not, this period was always one filled with tension. A moment where even the most mundane things could spark an explosion of rage or other intense emotions within the werewolves.

"Do you know who they are and why they tried to attack Fedora?"

Aleksandra shook her head as she looked at the mercenaries before her with chilling eyes.

"For better or worse, those guys are just hired hands and unlike the one who attacked you, they didn't really do deep research before acting out."

"Then… They are useless, I presume?"

Natasha's eyes shone eerily but the hand on her shoulder pressed harder than before at her remark,

"Do not let your emotions run high. You know very well how important this period of time is for you, right?"

"Yes, I am aware…" She stopped herself for a moment before adding, "Do you think this is what I think it is?"

The fact that Natasha was special was known to basically all the wolves and many from the supernatural community. Even if they didn't know exactly how special she was, they all had two desires.

Obtain her or— destroy her completely so that no one else could have her.

Many may have hesitated to act in the past. After all, even if they did, the chances of success weren't very high.

But right now, all they had to do was disturb her mental state enough to make even the slightest chances of success vanish without a trace. It was pretty doable, knowing the condition she was in and the entity she faced. In fact, they might not even need to do anything and simply watch on as the Wolf inside her completely engulfs her and replaces her sense of self with Its own.

"I believe it's so."

Aleksandra looked at the hired hands. "The fact that you are about to awaken fully leaked one way or another and now they want to make sure our family does not get a new Alpha."

The Great Wolves already had three Alpha within them. This was more than any family could have, as generally, it was impossible for a pack to have more than two— a male and a female Alpha.

Once Natasha awakened, even if she did create her own Pack, this pack would still be linked to the Great Wolves since she was a natural Alpha. Her power was bound to be even higher than the pre-existing Alphas and it would only serve to boost the power of the Great Wolves.

"I guess they all gave up on conquering you now."

Natasha sighed and looked down at her bloody hands, "I implicated Adam once again."

Aleksandra hesitated ever so slightly as she was about to say something but then she simply shook her head. There was something far more pressing than talking about her relationship with the boy.

"Sasha… We have a traitor in our midst."

[1]: I went ahead and verified the dates on the Calendar just to be sure but I realized I made a mistake. In 2030. The 6th was a Thursday rather than a Saturday. I tried to correct it on a few old chapters, but I don't remember all the old chapters where I placed the date.
