Chapter 392 CH 378: CYCLE OF VENGEANCE (1)

As Adam breathed in and out through his nostrils in a certain way, his body started shedding away the fatigue of the day and he was able to finally rest his mind properly.

As he observed his surroundings, he was once again sure that there was nothing wrong in the immediate vicinity of his presence, which pretty much allowed him to rest at ease and put his strained nerves to some much needed rest.

'The shadows are doing a good job.'

One day he would find a name he was happy to keep for the twins but for now, shadow or ghost seemed to be the more apt name for the two spirits that he had snatched from the Underworld.

'But as I thought… I cannot make the creatures of this world into my shadows. Or is it only the flowers and teddy bears that I am not able to make into my shadows? Worth experimenting when I get deeper into Wonderland, I suppose…'

There was something Adam had obviously asked himself after seeing the performance of the two extremely useful tools that he had under him and how fast they were growing into potential powerhouses and knowledgeable entities.

What if… he had more of such shadows.

What if… he could create an entire army of shadows that would be at his beck and call and would only be completely loyal to him.

This was a very tempting idea that would be game-changing for him. Adam was already a one-man army and he honestly didn't have a need for an entire army.

But he was only one man at the end of the day. Furthermore, the shadows' most significant advantage lay in the fact that since they were not limited by his Domain, they could move and act independently from him with no problems whatsoever. Thus making them even more lucrative and making him desire as many of them as he was able to store.

Sadly, he had been unable to harvest the souls of those he had massacred in the land of dreams. It was as if they were entirely devoid of souls or perhaps the essence of the Dreamforce that he and the shadows had absorbed was their soul itself? He wasn't really sure…

'That… isn't completely impossible.'

If Dreamforce was in fact the power that drove the soul, then it would explain why growing stronger here made the soul stronger and nothing else. Even if it wasn't the case, there was no denying the relationship between the two forces— the soul and the Dreamforce which allowed him to run amok in this world of Dreams and Illusions.

'I will have to talk about this to Medusa.'

It was too soon to have fixed ideas about how everything worked around in this place. At least, he shouldn't be hasty about it yet. He could wait until he fought other creatures and had a larger sample to test and experiment with to come to an educated conclusion.

'I should end the hunt soon.'

He had already mowed down more than half of those accursed teddies and laughing flowers that he had seen in this area. As soon as he finished with them, he would be able to move on to the next zone, he presumed.

'I wonder how large my Domain will become when I go back to the real world this time around?'

Right now, his piece was only at the lowest level possible— that of an insignificant pawn that could only do so much on the chessboard. He didn't know how much power the next rank would give him but he could only wait with anticipation for the evolution to occur as he collected more and more Dreamforce to nourish his piece.

He stood up and stretched a little at that thought. It was surprising how he felt like he was in the real world at the moment with how his body cracked and all the sensations that followed it as he did some stretches. The sensations of his soul body were eerily similar to his real body, which again made no sense just like many other things in this illusory realm.

Whoever created this world was someone or something too powerful for him to even attempt to understand.

"Good job you two. It's time for us to end my vengeance and continue on to a higher level."

Bang~ Bang~

Adam was fighting once again. Though this time he was all alone. This place was supposed to be a training ground for him after all and he wished to ameliorate his close combat ability since he hadn't used them in a long time.

Right now he was fighting a rather large teddy bear, it was around 170 cm tall and had a large fluffy body that was able to tank the blows he was throwing at it with ease.

However, each hit from that monstrosity was able to shatter the ground and make the earth tremble with its might.

Behind him, the shadows were fighting and killing the smaller teddy bears, the so-called goons of the boss teddy bear, constantly replenishing his power and stamina as the fight went on. It was slightly cheating on his part. But he didn't stop to think about this matter. One should use everything in their arsenal to achieve victory. This was the motto that he firmly believed in.

"You are quite fast for being so large and poofy."

Adam jested the monstrosity as he dodged a fast jab from the humongous teddy bear. He could feel the wind pressure behind the punch and had no doubt that if he had received the hit, his head might have exploded in an instant.

"You are also quite strong for being so fluffy."

Adam continued to avoid its onslaught of attacks while answering with hits of his own.

This was something he could not feel when he was facing his mother… No matter how much stronger than him she was, there was no killing intent or desire to destroy him in her hits. Even as he dodged or got hit by her punches, he would only feel slight pain because of the strength that she controlled but not much more.

But here—

"Hahaha…"

He found it funny that he was having an exciting match with a teddy bear of all things but the pressure in each attack reminded him of his fights in the underground arena.

'This is it.'

A particular heat started to spread from his stomach to his chest and finally reached his head.

His movements slowly adjusted, becoming sharper, wasting lesser and lesser movements with each passing second. Now he did not simply avoid those jabs, he would also counter with his own punches which were getting faster and sharper.

Whoosh~!

'Now…'

He ducked down as the large fluffy bear made a swing too large and rushed into his guard. Then after a powerful smash to the stomach, he followed on by landing one more hit to the side of its face before finishing the combo of attacks with an uppercut that brought the bear a few feet above the ground.

But his attacks did not stop there. Pushing his feet to control his force, he ended the full combo with a last kick, propelling the teddy bear far away from him, breaking tree after tree until it finally reached a rock and embedded itself deep into its surface.

"Ohhh. This was a good workout."

Adam landed on his feet slowly and calmly while admiring the artwork of destruction he had created with visible pride in his eyes.

In this place, he didn't have to worry about the weak being crushed under his strength and he had to say, there was something healing about punching and kicking people.

Almost relaxing even if he had to be honest about it.

He looked at the other teddy bears with a challenging smile tugging on his lips. Many of them were already down for the count but he could see their button eyes flicker with a thirst for blood and revenge, clearly, they were hating him, and rightfully so.

But what could he say? This was kill or be killed. They were the ones who chose to attack him first. Now they were reaping the consequences of their actions.

"So guys. Should we continue on?"

The roar of the chainsaw was all the answer he needed from the cute monstrosities.
