When Natasha and Adam walked out of the house, they could see that the sun was shining high in the sky. It was already noon, more or less, by the time their talk finished.
The weather today was quite beautiful, all things considered, and the heat was at a bearable degree.
Not that heat mattered much for either of them. Being from the supernatural world and all.
"I forgot to say, but your dress is very beautiful. It's quite rare to see you in such girly clothes."
In fact, Adam was even unable to remember the last time he saw Natasha in a simple dress outside of the time when he visited her house after they had been attacked.
"Aleksandra was the one who pushed me to wear these clothes. She knows much more about fashion than a boring girl like me."
Natasha tucked her hair behind her hair and smiled enchantingly, "Though, I am happy that you liked it. I wore the dress for you after all."
"You are… quite direct today."
Adam was surprised by her words. He did feel that Natasha had an interest in him. But he never thought that she would be so forthcoming about this matter.
"I mean. Is it so surprising? I believe we were already about to talk about this a few weeks ago."
"Ah… Indeed."
"So you forgot, huh…"
Natasha chuckled bleakly, "Then again, I cannot blame you. A few minutes before we could finish our discussion, we had to face a devil summoning, then you just had to go into a coma for a week. So many things happened after that. It's pretty surprising to think about it now."
"Yeah. I feel like that day was an eternity away."
Adam spoke wistfully causing Natasha to look at him with a bemused expression before shaking her head.
"You are weird. You have only awakened for such a short time. I still wonder why you aren't hiding and crying in a room."
"You want me to be honest?"
"Of course."
"I am scared."
He laughed slightly as he spoke those words in a quiet tone, "I wish I could hide and cry in a room while leaving everything to others. Fighting is scary, fighting is painful. But in the end, I have to fight. I learned that even if you do not fight, this will not stop others from fighting you. So I would rather learn how to become a predator than stay a helpless prey."
"Heh… I like that way of thinking. I guess it's just one more thing added to the list of what I like about you."
Natasha was once again very direct with her words.
"Natasha I…."
"Don't say anything right now. Honestly, I just want this occasion to be as forthright as possible and share my feeling for you. I like you. I don't know if it's really love or something even deeper. But I like you. Let's leave it at that."
She shrugged her shoulders before speaking once more, "I don't need an answer. I already feel like I am cheating by trying to steal you from Sae while she is absent. But well, I guess all is fair in love and war."
She grinned and placed her hands behind her back as she walked in a not-so-girly way. A gust of wind passed by, causing her golden hair to fly. A cloud seemed to cover the sun for an instant, leaving nothing but a small ray of light shining on her.
Adam was mesmerized.
He had always known that Natasha was beautiful. He had even seen her in her birthday suit after all. So indeed, there was no doubt for him about how beautiful Natasha was.
But this… This was… different from all the times he had seen her.
If before, he could simply enjoy and admire her body like a bystander— simply admiring a work of art, now he felt enamored with her body.
A sentiment that went well beyond what a friend should feel was starting to bloom in his heart.
'Ah…What a sinful man I am.'
He already had Sae, and though their relationship was quite ambiguous, Adam knew deep in his heart that there was no way he would let Sae get away from him as she had entered his clutches already.
Only a few days ago, he consummated his relationship with Shuri and once again, while there was nothing official between them, Adam considered her as his.
It might be… No, it was very selfish of him to act and think in such a way. It could even be called unfair and unreasonable of him. But he did not want to change this situation nor would he change it even if he was coerced.
Then, what about Natasha?

Friendship? Love? Lust?

"You still don't plan to tell me what will happen on the night of the 9th, right?"
There were more or less only four days left before the fateful night and he still didn't really know what was about to happen.

Natasha's words were cut off and she was unable to continue further as she felt a pair of lips cover hers.

This was so surprising and so sudden that, for a moment, she completely blanked out and could form no further thoughts.
But soon, the feeling of his hand placed around her hips, as he hugged her and his lips finally leaving her lips behind, allowed Natasha to get her bearings back…
"Adam…!?"
She squeaked a little, still unable to form coherent words due to the shock of his sudden and unexpected action.
"Where did the bold Natasha go?" He laughed a little then looked down at her.
It was the first time Natasha realized that Adam had unknowingly become much taller than her and she had to look up to meet with his gaze, deep and unfathomable.
'Beautiful.'
Immediately, she felt like she was losing herself in his beautiful gem-like blue eyes. They were like a deep ocean, with depth unknown to them or like the sky, so vast one could not see the edge of it.
If someone told her right here and now that Adam had some bewitching power, she would not be surprised at all.
"You said you liked me, right?"

"You also said that this was a family problem."
The question allowed her to wake up slightly from the trance she had been put under and she bit her lips, "Yes. It's a secret ceremony and I cannot give the details to an outsider, even if that outsider is a friend."
"Then it's pretty simple isn't it?"
He leaned further in and muttered in her ears, causing her to redden further and further…
"We just have to become family, right?"
Those words were simply too bold for her maiden heart to handle.
