Chapter 285: Poor Zhang Duoyu
The strategy of the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance was originally for all peak-level forces from the other three Territories to fully submit. However, after the battle with the Moon Ghost Sect, Eventide Greater Lord realized this strategy would inevitably face strong backlash, leading to a change in tactics. The Chu Clan, a peak-level force from the Profound Yin Territory, had only recently joined the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance. Their Divine Core and Primordial Spirit stage cultivators were not yet listed in the Daoist Rankings of the two realms. Therefore, Chu Xunyu was initially unaware of the identity of Supreme Spirit Master, assuming he was just an ordinary Divine Core stage genius.
Upon realizing that he was from the Spirit Race of the Profound Depth Spiritual World, Chu Xunyu realized his attitude needed slight adjustment.
The Cloud Soaring Luans cry rang out as it began to plunge downwards with all of its half-step Clone Avatar stage might, stirring up violent winds and waves on the sea surface. It came to a stop a few dozen meters above Chu Xunyu and his party.
This location was the deepest part of the Moon Ghost Sect. Many from the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance tasked with cleaning the battlefield were present but instinctively kept their distance, observing from afar.
Although most structures of the Moon Ghost Sect were submerged by the sea, this area was the peak of a mountain, rising nearly a hundred meters above the sea level. The peak was littered with nearly a hundred corpses, including those of several Dao Foundation stage cultivators from the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance who were Xu Disheng's subordinates.
"Is the person coming Supreme Spirit Master himself?" The Divine Core stage member of the Chu Clan, assessing the relative strength of both parties, abandoned his previous arrogance for a much friendlier demeanor.
Li Xuanji, noticing the corpses, was about to speak angrily but was gently stopped by Xu Disheng.
The violet light of Xu Dishengs Spiritual Force shone as he unfurled his sleeve, releasing Qin Ming from the golden divine light shackling him. Instead of responding to Chu Ye's query, Xu Disheng asked Qin Ming, "Where is Zhang Duoyu?"
Qin Ming's face was a complicated mix of inner relief, fear of blame, and dismay. "Supreme Spirit Master, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have taken the initiative to"
"Just answer what you're asked, no need for diversions!" Feng Wuji interjected, clearly impatient.
Glancing fearfully at Chu Xunyu and Chu Ye, Qin Ming said in an even weaker tone, "I argued with a Divine Core stage Spirit Master over a Ghost Spirit Lotus to enhance Zhang Duoyu's Soul Force. He was caught in the crossfire and has died."
BOOM!
A bolt of Heavenly Monarch Lightning, capable of ripping space apart, appeared out of nowhere, engulfing Qin Ming in a blinding column of light before he could react in the slightest.
As the blue and white light faded, Qin Ming's body was gone. He had been completely vaporized, signifying a total annihilation of his soul.
The Spiritual Force swirling around Xu Disheng intensified, and he looked down at Chu Xunyu and Chu Ye, who appeared to be the leaders. "What's your explanation?"
Recovering from the shock, Chu Ye attempted to respond, but was met with the cold gaze of the young man, causing a chill to run through him, "Supreme Spirit Master, this incident started through Spirit Master Qin Mings provocation. I was merely defending our Chu Clan's honor."
Chu Xunyu, calm and collected, stepped forward and continued, "Chu Xunyu of the Chu Clan from the Profound Yin Territory greets the Supreme Spirit Master. Indeed, it was Qin Ming who initiated the conflict, injuring one of our Divine Core stage cultivators. We only defended ourselves upon arriving here, and although we did not kill Qin Ming, we did kill those Dao Foundation stage cultivators."
Feng Wuji seemed to recall something as he raised an eyebrow and asked. "The Chu Clan Are you the peak-level force that recently joined the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance?"
Chu Xunyu confirmed, "Indeed, but we had no intention of causing trouble. Yet, when provocation came our way, as a peak-level force, we couldn't just stand by. Wouldn't you agree, Spirit Master?"
Feng Wuji turned to Xu Disheng without replying, while Li Xuanji seemed eager for a slaughter, his excitement palpable.
In Li Xuanji's heart, beautiful women were to be reared and used to engage in lustful pleasures. He enjoyed wholeheartedly pursuing women and protecting them. He showed compassion towards the innocent, reluctant to harm even one. But towards true enemies, he was merciless.
The complexities of Li Xuanji's character, shaped by the experiences in his soul's memory, remained a mystery to others.
Xu Disheng agreed, "You're right. Qin Ming's foolishness warrants the death of these Dao Foundation stage cultivators. However, among the deceased was a Sea of Qi stage cultivator who was extremely important to me. Although it was unintentional on your part, ten Divine Core stage Spirit Masters must pay with their lives in compensation."
Chu Ye had planned to humiliate whoever came for Qin Ming, but now that he learned of Xu Disheng's identity as a member of the Spirit Race, and the looming presence of the half-step Clone Avatar stage Cloud Soaring Luan, he began to feel regret.
Hearing Xu Disheng's demand, Chu Ye's expression shifted. "Surely you jest, Supreme Spirit Master. One Sea of Qi stage cultivator in exchange for ten of our Divine Core stage cultivators lives? While the Chu Clan has only recently joined the Dawndusk Daoist Alliance and does not seek conflict, we are not afraid of you."
Chu Xunyu remained unflustered, "Supreme Spirit Master, may I inquire about the significance of this Sea of Qi stage cultivator? If he is indeed of such importance to you, then the Chu Clan is willing to compensate with ten Divine Core stage cultivators."
"Young Master Chu!"
"Young Master Chu, that's too much!"
The surrounding Divine Core stage cultivators voiced their concerns.
Clearly, Chu Xunyu held a higher status than Chu Ye, as indicated by the use of "Young Master Chu.
As everyone in the Chu Clan had the surname Chu, a title like Young Master Chu, which evidently wasnt very useful in distinguishing between individuals of the clan, was reserved only for the true heirs and geniuses of the Chu Clan.
Chu Ye, standing beside Chu Xunyu, remained cold and indifferent, effectively sentencing those Divine Core stage cultivators to death with his gaze.
It wasn't out of cold-heartedness or cruelty that he and Chu Xunyu made this decision. Faced with the insurmountable Cloud Soaring Luan, they had no choice but to submit if Xu Disheng refused to back down, leaving obliteration as their only path.
