Chapter 426 The Haves & The Have Nots

Suddenly, the idea of a vampire king living in Haiti made total and complete sense to Abaddon.

He had been here for a single hour and had observed every stretch of the country and was sure of absolutely one thing.

This place was absolutely teeming with the supernatural.

There were a number of spirits and creatures walking around in broad daylight with their features hidden, but they could not hide their identities from Abaddon.

However, some were not even bothering to hide themselves.

On one of the many beaches in the country, a young boy of around fourteen was following the sound of singing that called to him from the water.

Though his grandmother and numerous elders had told him a multitude of times not to do this, he couldn't help himself from following the sound.

It was just so terrifyingly alluring.

Following the music, he found a woman sitting on a rock overlooking the crashing ocean waves.

She glanced over her shoulder sensually and revealed a beautifully charming appearance that was the thing of his pubescent dreams.

Beautiful dark skin, long black braids, lips more full than church on Sunday, and a pair of inhuman sparkling purple eyes.

These attributes paired with her glistening wet body and large breasts hidden underneath seashells almost made her too stimulating for the young boy.

While she continued her song, she beckoned the boy closer to her with her fingers and his feet began to move with a life of their own.

The closer and closer he got, the foggier his mind began to feel, and the more his fantasies ran wild.

Once he reached the woman, he realized that she was even more beautiful up close than from afar.

And she looked so… defenseless.

Like he could do anything he wanted to her, and she would not refuse him.

Emboldened by his delusion, the boy reached out for the breasts of this charming and mysterious vixen, determined to remember what it felt like to be breastfed.

And in doing so, his ambition became his undoing.

Before he knew what was happening, he was grabbed roughly by his shirt collar and pulled into the freezing sea water with remarkable ease and speed.

The young boy began to panic as the burning saltwater entered his eyes and he was drug deeper and deeper into their depths.

He dared not trust his vision any longer, but he could have sworn that the woman who he would remember as his first love suddenly changed into a horrible monster.

She became horrendously ugly, with a fishlike face and serrated yellow claws with a set of misshapen teeth to match.

Her violet eyes that seemed so warm and inviting before were now like empty black holes that she had been concealing just beneath the surface of her disguise.

Just as the young boy had saltwater fill his lungs, he suddenly stopped getting pulled deep into the water.

The creature that was mortifyingly frightening mere seconds ago was now looking around in confusion, almost like she was afraid of something.

It was as if she feared the ocean itself had just turned against her.

The two came flying out of the water against their own volition and became suspended in the air above the surface.

The mermaid felt her eyes go wide enough to leave her skull.

Floating in front of her face was a handsome young human man, but she was not nearly inept enough to believe that he was just that.

"I usually don't mind the eating of humans but… this one's a bit underdone for me to let it pass." Abaddon said.

Taking the child from her, he forcefully expelled the water from his lungs and wiped any and all memory of this encounter from his mind.

Although considering that the people here already had firm belief in the supernatural, there wasn't really a need.

But atleast he could prevent the boy from having nightmares for the time being.

"Y-You.." the mermaid began.

"Shh…" Abaddon said as he placed a clawed finger up to his lips.

"I am quite sensitive about the well-being of children, I'm afraid. I suppose that having your own will do that to you.

Normally, you would be dead on the spot. But since you are my descendant and you did not know any better, I'm going to let you live.

Are you not grateful?"

The mermaid nodded so furiously that Abaddon thought her head would fly off, and he let out a dark chuckle as a result.

"Good, now I have a question for you. I'm assuming you have some knowledge about a vampire king living here. Tell me all that you know about him."

The mermaid that was already shaking, started to tremble even more furiously.

"Oh…? Is that hesitation I sense?"

"N-No, bél! I will tell you everything I know!"

"Good… start with whether or not the abomination I'm sensing from underground has anything to do with him?"

The mermaid looked at Abaddon with mesmerized eyes.

If he was capable of sensing something like that when even the other supernaturals couldn't pick it up meant he was very powerful indeed.

"Are you… a god?"

For the first time, the mermaid saw a toothy smile spread on the man's face, and she was captivated instantly.

"What do you think?"

- Lafierre Citadel, Vaseux

Abaddon landed right in the middle of an abandoned military fortress known by some as the eighth wonder of the world.

Since it was currently night time, there were no tourists trying to scope this scenery out and the surroundings were deadly silent.

However, that did not mean that this place was empty.

*Whoosh!*

Abaddon was suddenly surrounded by around twenty vampires in dark black suits with glowing red eyes.

He could feel the lot of them analyzing him from head to toe trying to gain some kind of insight into who or what he was.

However, he did not care about their little attempts to get to know him in the slightest.

"My vacation is drawing a bit near you see so I'm no longer in the mood to do this for any longer than I have to..." he said as he slipped off his glasses.

"Take me to Necropolis. Now."

Without understanding why, the bodies of the vampires started to move on their own like little toy soldiers.

They led Abaddon into the seemingly abandoned fortress as if they were his personalized security team.

Within the empty barracks, one of the men found a hidden panel behind a wooden cupboard.

He pressed his hand against the futuristic panel and it shone with a green light before a hidden door opened up right in front of them.

Behind the doors was a pristine high-speed express elevator that looked large enough to hold all twenty-one men.

Abaddon stepped inside without being polite and waited for the rest of the vampires to squeeze in.

Once inside, a button was pressed to close the door on the elevator and the group plummeted beneath even the mountain, deep into the earth itself.

"Y-You're him aren't you...?" one of the vampires asked shakily.

"Him who?"

"The one who's got all of the gods spooked... The Destroyer..!"

A gleam of mild surprise shone in Abaddon's eyes and the man shuddered as if he could feel his gaze boring into the back of his brain.

"Are you asking... because you wish to learn personally?"

"N-No sir, not at all!"

"H-He's just a little starstruck!"

"He meant no disrespect, we assure you!"

Abaddon smirked silently without saying anything and enjoyed the slight fear he felt emanating off of the men present.

Audrina : 'Husband of mine... Why are you bullying them?'

'Boredom. It's a long ride down.'

Lillian: 'You could always talk to us instead you know?'

'I could hear you girls arguing already and didn't want to get in the middle.' he admitted.

Lailah : 'We aren't arguing, darling.'

Seras : 'Our youngest just foolishly believes that the 'Harry Potter' works are superior to those of 'Percy Jackson'.

Tati : 'They are!'

The Wives : 'They aren't!'

Abaddon discreetly left the conversation and let the girls continue their cute yet pointless debate.

He had no idea his wives would take so well to literature as well as television when they came here, since a few of them faced difficulty sitting in one place for long periods.

Since they were still having another of their lengthy arguments, he had to find something else to do to pass the time.

"You all seem to know quite a lot for vampires. I wonder how that is possible when you do not particularly have a surplus of allies among the gods... Or do you?"

A chill ran down the spines of all twenty vampires as they discreetly looked at each other like they were afraid to speak.

They hesitated for a while as if they were trying to figure out what they should say,?however they were largely unaware of the fact that none of their thoughts were secret when Abaddon was around.

He did not even have to force them to tell them anything, and merely listened to their surface thoughts as their minds ran wild.

"W-We.."

"Nevermind. I already know everything that I need to." Abaddon said.

The men looked at each other with slight worry in their faces, but at that moment the glass windows on the elevator finally showed more than cement.

"A-Ah, we've arrived, your.. godliness? ... Welcome to the Necropolis."

Abaddon dragged his golden eyes over the surroundings that were slightly miraculous.

Sitting underneath one of the poorest countries in the world was what seemed like an entirely separate nation that went on for hundreds of thousands of kilometers.

Even from here, he could smell the wealth that seemed to ooze from every structure and building.

There were large buildings, mansions, luxury apartment complexes, public parks, pet stores, restaurants, electric powered trains, paved roads, water fountains, statues, billboards, you fucking name it.

'Is that… a god damned 'Nobu' across the street from an aquarium?!'

Abaddon was already beginning to get irritated, but for right now he had to swallow his wrath.

At least until he talked to the man in charge that is.

But already, the opinion he was forming of this man and those who lived here was not very high at all.

'Stay calm, Abaddon, stay calm…'

Valerie : 'You seem rather tense, my darling… just say the word and I will sink this place to the bottom of the ocean.'

'Thank you, love, but I don't believe that will be necessary just y-'

"Ah… would you like to stop at 'Starbucks' before we travel to see the king?" One of the vampires asked.

"…"

"…?"

'Valerie… be ready on my mark.'

'Of course.'
