Chapter 682 Commander Erwin

Chapter 682: Commander Erwin

"A guest from another world, huh? I heard that you wanted to meet me. Can you tell me the reason?" The old man asked as he crossed his legs and looked sharply at Charles.

While walking closer, Charles took out the metallic badge with a vertical eye symbol and spoke.

"I came here under the order of Azgan." Saying so, he tossed the badge to Erwin and added.

"And I'm planning to explore the Soul of Graves."

"Soul of Graves? Also, when did you meet that Ancient Demon?" A surprised expression appeared on Erwin's face as he inspected the ring like he was reading something and furrowed.

"Hmm, you indeed formed an oath through this ring. And the conditions seem to be favoring you most. Why did that Demon agree to a condition like this? Azgan will never do something reckless unless it's of great importance or an urgent situation. Also, why would you want to go to that dangerous place? If you don't tell me the truth, I might not help you with everything." Erwin said solemnly.

At that moment, Charles thought of another image of humans in robes with eye symbols on them and furrowed.

"Before answering your question, can I ask you something else?"

Although Erwin was confused by his question, he said nothing and waved his hand.

"Go on."

"Are you a follower of Amber Church from the Edhen World?"

"Oh? You already learned much about our world, huh? Even though I never revealed myself as a person from the Edhen World to anyone, how did you find out?" Erwin asked the question and slowly turned his gaze towards the badge in his hand.

"Hmm, interesting. You noticed the eye symbol and guessed it, huh? But are you really from another world?" A strange suspicion appeared in his eyes. At the same time, his eyes turned golden color and released some divine power in his direction.

Although Charles didn't understand what type of divine power it was, he vaguely sensed that it might have something to do with distinguishing whether he speaks truth or false.

But Charles wasn't afraid at all.

"I'm from another world called 'Earth.'" He answered.

"Hmm, you are telling the truth. That means you must have met a member of Amber Church in other layers then." Erwin said with a nod.

At that moment, Charles decided to toss out another bite.

"If you help me achieve my goal, I will help you grand your freedom from the Sacred Oath."

His words stunned the Commander.

A deep silence appeared in the hall, followed by a strange divine power spreading everywhere. Before Charles could even blink, the whole mansion was covered by a powerful layer of divine power that completely isolated them from the outside world.

"How sure are you? Kid, this isn't just a laughing matter. As long as you help us from that damned bird, we'll be forever indebted to you. Not only humans and demons, but even the elves, dwarves, and all other races." Erwin's calm and composed appearance was nowhere to be seen. Instead, his face was filled with full of seriousness and vigilance.

"The reason I came to this Layer is not to fool around but to get my hands on this Sacred Oath spell model. So, my final goal just lines with your goal too. As long as we work together, it's not a big deal to kill or capture the Devil Crow." Before Erwin could ask more questions, Charles continued to throw out another bait.

"Also, I gave an important information to Azgan. As long as he uses that information properly, he will be able to lure away the Devil Crow from its base. To be precise, the Lord of Chaos will personally come out of his hiding and fight the Devil Crow himself."

Erwin finally raised his right hand to stop him from throwing out more baits and spoke.

"Please give me an hour to think this through. What you revealed is too much for this small head to handle."

"Then, I'll return to my friend's home and wait for your reply." As he spoke, he finally released his wisdom power to the surroundings and enveloped himself in a crimson flame before disappearing.

"Teleportation? No, why did he turn into flame before disappearing? What kind of unique spatial spell is that?" Erwin couldn't help but get shocked by his display of power.

After confirming that no trace of Charles's magic was left, he waved his hand and brought a mirror from his spatial ring.

After that, he infused his wisdom power into it and activated the mirror.

A moment later, the whole mirror shone in a radiant light and soon revealed a dark scale of a horn.

"Hmm? Human Mage? I was just about to call you." A thundering voice came from the other side.

Soon, the scale, no, the figure that blocked the mirror's view, moved back and showed its face. It was none other than the Chaos Dragon, which Azgan met two days ago.

"It's been a while, Mirigon," Erwin said as he waved his hand and went straight to the point.

"Why did you give my Sacred Oath Token to that Ancient Demon? He used it to form a contract with another human and even sent him to me. The reason I called you urgently is that he said some absurd words, which startled me greatly."

"Well, I also don't know much about this matter. But why not ask Azgan yourself? He is here with me right now." Just as Mirigan spoke with his gigantic mouth, he used the wisdom power and tilted the mirror on the other side.

A second later, Erwin saw an almost seven-meter-tall winged demon with goat horns standing near the Chaos Dragon's head and looked at him with a smirk.

"It's been a long time since we have exchanged greetings, human Commander. So, what do you want to ask me right now?"

Erwin went silent momentarily, took a long breath, and asked while gritting his teeth.

"That human from another world... Charles. Is he telling the truth? Is it truth that he has a way to kill that damned bird?"

"He might be or not. I can't say for sure unless I enter the Cave and see that thing for myself." Demon Azgan said calmly.

"What thing?" Erwin asked in surprise and soon realized that Charles had intentionally not mentioned any information about it!

"Hmm, it seems he trusts demons more than humans. Well, I understand him too. After all, it was your kind that first betrayed this Layer's true Lord and sided with that wicked bird." Azgan said while shaking his head and soon added.

"Don't worry about anything. Help the human with everything you have. Maybe it's finally the time to strike back." As soon as Azgan spoke, he waved his hand and broke the communication mirror on the other side.

Upon seeing the connecting being cut off, Erwin went into a deep silence.

"Not only this human named Charles, but even that Demon didn't trust me a single bit. Well, it's understandable, after all." As he muttered, he instantly summoned ten more similar mirrors and activated all the communication artifacts.

A second later, multiple faces from different races appeared in all those mirror communication artifacts.

"Human Wizard? Why are you contacting us? Is there anything important?" An elvish woman with golden hair asked in a cold tone.

"If you don't give me a reasonable explanation, I'm going to start a war with your base right away." A pale-faced woman with red eyes and a unique third blue eye spoke coldly.

"Don't be too harsh on that weak human. He must have some reason after all." This time, the one who spoke was a formal black-suited man with a bowler's hand on his head. But unlike humans, he had strange red eyes and sharp teeth like a vampire.

Although a few people from other mirrors also showed dissatisfaction, they soon went silent as Erwin raised his right hand and cleared his throat.

First, he looked at the pale-faced woman and spoke.

"The problem started from your base, Pale Knight."

"What do you mean?" A deep, murderous intent came from the mirror, causing it to shake fiercely.

"Azgan is still in contact with the Lord of Chaos as we suspected. And from the looks of it, that group had already planned to lure the Devil Crow and kill it."

"WHAT!???? Are they out of their minds? Damn it, if they start a fight, we will also have to help that damned bird due to that f*king sacred oath! Why did they do it?" A furious roar erupted from Pale Knight's mouth.

Other commanders also voiced out their similar thoughts and started discussing.

"Everyone, please be quiet." Erwin finally couldn't bear the noisy atmosphere and spoke.

"I think we should ally ourselves with the Lord of Chaos this time and get rid of the Sacred Oath and that Damned Devil once and for all."

"What do you mean?" The elvish woman furrowed before asking further.

"Don't you know that it's almost impossible to disobey that damned bird's summon?"

A chuckle escaped out of Erwin's mouth.

"You guys underestimated me too much. Although it's almost impossible to break the Sacred Contract Oath, there are many loopholes to use it. Surprisingly, that dumb bird didn't create separate contract oaths for everyone and made similar ones. Although the contract mentions that we must participate if Devil Crow summons us, what if we didn't receive a summon?"

"What do you mean?" Pale Night asked.

Erwin curled his lips upward and spoke coldly.

"Usually, Devil Crow summons us every year through the contract link. What if we weaken the link using a special artifact and isolate ourselves for a particular period of time? We can indeed stop any communication in theory. Although it's a reckless move, if the Lord of Chaos, Azgan, and his other group members managed to kill the Devil Crow, the Sacred Contract will become invalid. Moreover, we can also gain our freedom."
