Xiao Jingyao grumbled to himself, ‘Why did Mu Tingfeng appear in a place like this with the general manager?’
“President Mu, I was very worried about you. How could you be so reckless and rescue Ms. Zhao all alone as soon as you heard something happened to her?! What happens if something happened to you? What about me? What about the company’s staff?” Xia Zhetao helped Su Ruixin as they went up to him. The moment they reached Mu Tingfeng and Zhao Youlin, he gave a cursory glance at the two, making sure the two were fine before he wailed like a banshee.
While Xia Zhetao was crying out loud, he observed Zhao Youlin’s reactions. ‘President Mu’s heroic act of saving a beauty by putting his life at stake is simply awesome!’

Unfortunately, Xia Zhetao’s thoughts of thinking things would work that way were wrong. Zhao Youlin did not even bother to cast a glance at him. All she cared about was Su Ruixin, whom Xia Zhetao was helping. She asked her, “Madam Mu, are you alright? How are you? Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Su Ruixin heaved a sigh of relief when Zhao Youlin looked fine. She smiled faintly, “I’m fine. In fact, I was worried about you. You acted so rashly. I didn’t fear those people, instead, I was scared to death because of what you did.”
The two had experienced life and death together. So, their relationship had progressed significantly within half an hour to the point that the rest of them were struck dumb.

‘Something must have gone wrong with such rapid progress between the two!’ Xia Zhetao, who had been completely ignored, was filled with puzzlement as he looked at the happy duo.
Likewise, Mu Tingfeng was caught by surprise too. He had a lower level of emotional intelligence. He could not figure out why the two strangers had grown so close within such a short period of time. On top of that, the way Zhao Youlin treated his mother was not as prickly as how she had treated him!

Su Ruixin had helped her out during the car crash. No matter the reason she did so, Zhao Youlin owed her a favor. It was inappropriate to pass on her dissatisfaction toward Mu Tingfeng to her.
Although she was Mu Tingfeng’s mother, Zhao Youlin had to say, she was fond of having an Aunt who was equally as beautiful, gentle, elegant, and dignified as Duan Yarong.
After making sure that she was alright, Zhao Youlin grew relieved. She turned back and instructed Xiao Jingyao in a low voice, “Don’t let my parents know about today’s accident.”
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jingyao looked troubled. He pointed at another team of people rushing at them not far away, and he said, “I’m afraid this is a little difficult.”
Zhao Youlin looked in the direction where Xiao Jingyao had pointed and she saw a group of police officers. Her eyebrows twitched, especially after seeing a few acquaintances who were taking the lead.
“Uncle Xiao, did you lodge the police report?”
Xiao Jingyao froze. He shook his head and answered, “Not me.”
Zhao Youlin narrowed her eyes. Then, she turned back and looked at Xiao Zhetao. Xiao Zhetao hurriedly shook his hand, and he said, “Not me. It’s not me.”
‘Who did it, then?’ A hint of puzzlement appeared in Zhao Youlin’s eyes. Soon, her doubt was cleared.
“Ms. Zhao…” A very handsome man was the first to rush over to Zhao Youlin.
Zhao Youlin paused for a moment before she called out uncertainly, “Mr. Qin?”
Seeing that Zhao Youlin still remembered him, Qin Huai smiled faintly, “I never thought you would still remember me, Ms. Zhao.”
Ever since the investigation of police officers in the police force was in vain, Zhao Youlin had not contacted him. Never did she think she would bump into him under such circumstances. Moreover, it looked like Mr. Qin was the one who had lodged the police report, even though they were mere acquaintances.
Likewise, Qin Huai had never thought he would run into Zhao Youlin under such circumstances. Today, he originally wanted to buy something on someone’s behalf. He did not expect to see a car under attack while he was on the way back. Above all, he identified the person in the backseat, Zhao Youlin, with whom he had an employment relationship once.
Qin Huai also wondered what he had been thinking just then. The moment he saw Zhao Youlin was in trouble, the image of him holding the documents not long ago inevitably appeared in his mind.
His heart clenched slightly and without giving a second thought, he was so nosy that he called the police, and he had even followed her all the way.
Before Zhao Youlin had time to catch up with Qin Huai, the police had already rushed up to them. They surveyed the scene in the woods, and they said loudly, “What had happened here?”
Looking at Li Yan who was leading the team, as well as Lu Shu who was standing beside him, Zhao Youlin’s eyes sparkled, and she sneered to herself, ‘Was today a grand day? Apart from the fact that I nearly lost my life, why are all these familiar faces coming for me at the same time?’
Just when Zhao Youlin was falling speechless and did not know how to respond to this, an abrupt shout broke out, “Be careful!”
What came next was Zhao Youlin feeling the world around her spinning. Before she even managed to react to the situation, she had been pulled into someone’s arms and was well protected even if it had to cost that person’s life.
The banging sound of a gunshot cut through the air in the woods. Blood was spilling from a certain one’s arm. Within a blink of an eye, the blood had soaked half of his snow-white sleeves.
“President!”
“Tingfeng!”
“President Mu!”
The people on the side were screaming. Meanwhile, Zhao Youlin looked as if she had lost her soul. She reached out to touch Mu Tingfeng’s blood-stained sleeves. She raised her hand and saw her hand was covered in striking, crimson blood.
Looking at Zhao Youlin’s dumbfounded look, Mu Tingfeng felt heartache. He held back his pain, and he comforted her, “I’m fine.”
Unfortunately, at that time, Zhao Youlin turned a deaf ear to all the words. The blood before her sight immediately reminded her of her bleeding right after she was shot inside the warehouse in the past. She imagined being in a different world. At the same time, she felt heartache.
The police were struck dumb by the sudden accident. However, they recovered their senses very soon after years of facing stress conditions. They lifted up their hands and were ready to shoot the sniper who dared to open fire even during their presence. None of them expected that someone had acted faster than them.
Another banging sound of the gunshot was heard. The groaning of pain from the sniper abruptly rang out. The sound had clenched the people’s hearts.
