Chapter 36: The disguise
Morning came and Ed got up and started preparing breakfast. He woke Emilia up and she joined him and Suika. Ed was actually worried at first that Suika might attack Emilia like at the incident with slime that day, but she was actually very nice to her. She even played with her while Ed was preparing to leave.
'She must be yandere only when it involves other slimes' Ed guessed the reason behind Suika's actions was because she wanted to be the only slime he has. Ed chuckled in silence and kept preparing. He stole glances every once in a while at Emilia and Suika and noticed that Emilia seemed to like Suika a lot. She probably found her very cute.
Ed drove the carriage while the other two kept playing together. After a couple of hours, they finally reached the city. The city was called Fang city. Ed was intrigued by the naming of these cities and tried to think about the reason. 'Maybe it had something to do with some dragon?' Ed kept thinking while he entered the city. He was stopped by the guard to check the passengers but didn't get questions like in the previous city.
"Well then miss Emilia, what will you be doing next?" Ed asked her since he was planning to do the opposite. He needed to be separated from her; he didn't train at all when she was with him.
"I'll be heading to an inn. I'll also have to sell this carriage since I won't be needing it anymore" Without having a driver, this carriage was useless so it was the right thing to do.
"I see well then we'll be separating here I need to take care of some stuff. I hope we'll meet again" Ed extended his hands and Emilia did as well.
"I hope so as well. I'll make sure to return my debt" Emilia and Ed shook hands. Ed went to look for an inn while Emilia went to look for a merchant that can buy the carriage.
Ed soon found an inn and entered. He asked for the biggest room again and he was told it was 3 gold coins. However, he would need to pay for his meals and there was no bath. Ed didn't mind not having the bath as much since he wouldn't be staying for long.
After getting to his room, Raikou came out of his shadow and they were discussing what they would do next.
"Suika I'll be heading to sell the rest of the wyverns so I'll need to recall you back" Suika didn't mind and peacefully turned into card form. Ed changed his clothes to the black set he had bought before and used the black mask as well. He used Zero sign and jumped out the window. After moving for a little while he teleported inside an empty alley and undid the Zero sign. That ability was very useful but he couldn't keep it up for too long.
Ed exited the alley and immediately caught the attention of the others. He went up to a child and asked him how he can get to the guild.
"You should head to the city center it's there." The child obediently answered him and Ed gave him 2 gold coins. He was very happy and went to buy things with it.
Ed made his way to the city center and could see a big building that he thought was the guild. He erased his KI with KI control and went inside. He was using the Spectral Shadow steps to hide the sound of his steps, this gave him an even more imposing presence.
After getting inside everyone kept looking at him with weird eyes as if they couldn't believe he's really there. Most of the people inside were cultivators and could sense QI. But Ed was acting as if he didn't have any; coupled with his silent steps it was if he was a ghost.
Ed made his way to the receptionist.
"I would like to sell monster corpses" Ed changed his speaking style and acted tougher, he also made his voice deeper.
"Eh? Ah, yes! Of course!" The receptionist was still in shock since Ed was just too mysterious at this moment but quickly asked Ed to follow him as in the procedures. Ed already experienced this before and followed him.
They got into a warehouse and before the receptionist could ask him how he would be bringing the monsters; Ed dumped three wyverns on the floor. It was the fire, earth and space ones. He kept the stronger ones to be sold when he was in disguise.
The receptionist was shocked, he had seen monster corpses but rarely did ones as strong as these would be brought out at once, he didn't even have the time to be surprised at Ed having an item box.
"I'll be getting someone who could appraise them better than me please wait for a moment" The receptionist left and it didn't even take a minute before he came back with a man who looked to be in his 50s.
"Sir I can see that there are two King establishment level 5 monsters and one Earth establishment level 1. That would be 10.000 gold coins in total, is that okay with you?" The man was being respectful to Ed since he couldn't see through his cultivation state.
"Yes, that should be alright." In fact, that was even more than he expected. The space wyvern sold for a lot more than he expected.
Ed received the money and was about to leave when he was stopped by the elderly man.
"Sir, would you be interested in joining this guild? I'm the guild master of this branch and I can guarantee you wouldn't regret joining!" Ed was surprised that the guild master personally came to speak with him. But he already guessed people would try and bring him to their organizations, which is why he decided to use a disguise.
"I'm not interested" Ed spoke gave a short answer and left the guild immediately. He didn't give them a chance to try and persuade him.
