Unlike last time, the learning process was actually a bit painful to Roland. He felt his brain shake a bit before the relevant knowledge and experiences of a level 1 or professional hand-to-hand martial artist was engraved into his mind.
The System's method was truly terrifying. Not only did it provide him with the relevant know-how, it also made his entire body adapt to such knowledge in an instant.
On the outside, Roland and Janine had just stopped a meter away from the cashier, he was calm as if nothing had happened.
However, only he was aware that a drastic change had already occurred inside of him due the Level 1 Unarmed Combat.
From a guy who did not know self-defense to a guy who could be considered a martial arts master. Roland's transformation in the span of an instant was terrifying.
When Roland defeated the two burly men this morning, he was still quite proud of himself for what he had achieved. However, only now did he realize how ridiculous his thoughts were.
His actions this morning were simply child play to the current him.
Earlier, he was not even able to properly control his strength, breaking the burly man's arm and making the other vomit blood.
Now on the other hand, he was confident of defeating the two men without severely injuring them.
With his preparations ready, Roland was even more calmer than earlier as his eyes naturally scanned the surroundings.
He looked at the robber in front of them that was holding the male employee hostage.
"Bro, can you let us go? We were just passing by earlier and we do not intend to meddle in the affairs," Roland stated.
From the interaction earlier, Roland guessed that this man was the leader of the trio. And indeed, he was right.
The man nodded his head, "Don't worry, we only plan to rob this store. Don't feel pity for this store, it is taking advantage of the fact that it is the only store around and has their prices double compared to others. The owner is an evil man!"
From his voice, Roland could tell that he has a personal grudge to the owner of this store and was perhaps doing the robbery to enact vengeance.
"However, I'm afraid we can't let you go, at least not for now. Who knows if you will call the cop on us. But just stay put and be obedient, I assure you that we will release you unsatch later," he continued.
Roland nodded his head, showing that he understood what he meant.
For him, this was the best case scenario. No one would get hurt and they would not get robbed either.
Most of the desperate robbers were actually like this. If you willingly hand your items to them without resistance, most of them would leave you unsatch.
However, not all robbers were like this.
"Boss, we definitely can't let them go. Just look at his wrist, that's a very expensive watch. If we manage to sell that, the money we're gonna earn would probably be three times the amount we can rob from this store." The robber who was pushing the trolley suddenly interrupted.
"Boss, you know that I worked from a watch store before, you must believe me on this."
Hearing that, the leader of the trio turned his attention to Roland's wrist.
Indeed, there was a rich-looking watch wrapped around his wrist.
Temptation slowly filled his mind.
However he ended up just shaking his head a moment later.
"Stick to the plan, don't cause unnecessary trouble!"
Although the expensive watch was quite tempting, his rationality overshadowed the temptation he was feeling.
Even if they could get the watch successfully, where would they sell it? It was an expensive watch and although many may covet it, would they have the capital to buy it?
Amongst those he knew, which of them had the capacity to buy a watch like this?
If they have such a capability, why would he even try to rob and not just turn to them and ask for help?
And besides, the watch owner's calm gaze and composed manner since earlier made him a little afraid.
He has been a rufian since he was born. He knew how to differentiate the people who have real capabilities and those who don't.
The man in front of him was part of the former, he had no doubt about it. It was also one of the main reasons why he does not dare to rob him.
However, the same could not be said towards his companion who first spotted the watch earlier.
"What!? Boss, this is our chance! That's an expensive watch. We can sell it for at least a thousand Global Dollars!"
He gritted his teeth as he thought that his boss was simply afraid.
"Boss, the cashier already turned off the breaker earlier right? The cctv's are no longer working, what are you still afraid of?" He said, trying to provoke the boss.
However, the boss merely frowned as he looked at him with annoyance.
"Stop blabbering and do what you must do, continue to load two more trolleys with groceries. Remember, if you did not beg, I would not have let you join so just be obedient and do as you're told." He said with great authority.
Though, what the man said of him being afraid was kind of true, so he felt irritated for some reason.
The man gritted his teeth in anger. Although he was truly just a temporary member, he has already proven himself by coming along here.
Although the groceries and the cash from the convenience store tempted him, the Jolex Yatch-Master tempted him even more.
"Alright! If you won't do it, then I'll do it! Don't worry, I would still give you a share even if you are against it!" A ruthless expression appeared on his eyes.
The 'boss' looked at him as if he was insane. However, his offer of still giving him a share tempted him, so he did not try to stop his advance.
The man pulled out a knife from his pocket as he slowly walked towards Roland and Janine, who was now trembling a little in fear.
Seeing the man approach them slowly, Roland could only shake his head in disappointment.
'Greed was truly the downfall of men!'
At the same time, Roland could not help but think that the man's voice was a little familiar.
