Chapter 219 Visiting The Past

Jalen's mouth twitched upon hearing Roland's words. For a moment, he forgot how to speak as he stared at Roland with a twitching mouth.

In the end, he really did not speak any words at all. He was still tongue tied at what Roland had stated. Even though he slightly doubted his words, he was still unable to churn out words to deny Roland's claims. What if it was true? He would be in for a beating if he managed to offend this kind of man. Hence, he decided to just stay silent for world peace.

As for Roland, he did not mind his silence either. The System had already notified him of a successful face-slap netting him a total of 40 Face-Slapping Points including what he earned from the six witnesses around them.

Jalen led them to a corner of the plot of land that Roland bought. He said that it was the boundary of the land, beside it was the designated right of way. As the land was very big, Jalen only briefly mentioned the boundary at the other side and how to easily identify it. He said that it was marked by a single coconut tree, and that if Roland wanted to, they could go over today but they would need to go there by foot as the 10-hectare land was undeveloped and full of wild trees and weeds. There might even be wild ferocious animals as well, so they decided to stop for today.

Anyways, Roland already has the papers and now that he has already confirmed the state of the land, he could now hire some professionals to do professional work and start the production facilities that he planned early on.

After taking a few more glances, Roland and Janine decided to go back after exchanging contact with Jalen after the latter's persuasion. He said that if there was a chance in the future, the two of them should cooperate as fellow businessmen. Roland had nothing against it so he they exchanged contact without problem.

"That's it? So, we're going back now?" Janine suddenly asked as they boarded the car, a hint of disappointment could be seen in her eyes as she spoke.

Roland nodded his head before shaking it at the next moment.

"Yes, and no." Roland replied.

"The matter regarding the land is not fully settled yet. I am just here to see the situation of the land, and if the plan could really be implemented here. From my initial assessment, it seems to be passable, but we need to invest more to develop this land to a fully functional production area for Sparkling Buds."

"There are a lot of things to do here but I think there is no problem for the time being."

"Anyways, I'll let the professionals do the professionals' work, and with your father's help, there won't be any problem." Roland stated with a deep sigh. He could already imagine the busy days waiting for him up ahead.

Janine nodded her head, although she did not fully understand what Roland was saying, she could still infer a little bit of the essence of it.

"So, we're going back now?" She asked again.

"No, not yet." Roland replied. He accessed his phone and showed Janine a particular location that he had pinned in advance since earlier.

"Let's go here first," he said.

'It's time to visit the past that I have always wanted to escape and forget,' he thought to himself.

Janine only took a single glance at the map before she started the car. She already knew which route to take. With a bit of disappointment on her face, she immediately drove the Ronda Civic away.

Fore City, at a certain hospital owned by Councilor Brown's family.

"What do you mean there is no witness? What do you mean there is no CCTV footage?" A hoarse and enraged voice was heard inside a big private ward.

At this moment, a man wearing black tops and jeans could be seen trembling with his head lowered as he got reprimanded by a white-haired middle-aged man in front of him. The white-haired middle-aged man was sitting with his right leg crossed above the left as he stared at the man wearing a black shirt. His gaze was ferocious as smoke seemed to seep out of his nose at this moment akin to an enraged bull as he gripped his gold inlaid cane tightly.

The man in black tops shivered in fright, feeling the white-haired man's ferocious gaze. "C-councilor Brown, please calm down. We have already checked the area over and over again. That area is deserted and only a handful of people would use that path even during the day."

"Not to mention CCTV's, that path also just has a few streetlights, making the area very dim and quite scary."

Hearing that, Councilor Brown was even more enraged. He gripped his cane tightly and smashed it right into the shoulder of the man in black tops.

"Imbecile!"

The man in black tops groaned in pain, however, he did not dare to lash out, afraid of the consequences that he would face.

"Who the hell cares if the place is scary or not. I told you to investigate the matter, so go investigate the matter!"

"Stop giving me excuses, you fucking dimwit!" Councilor Brown shouted at the top of his lungs. His right hand holding the golden cane was raised yet again, as he prepared to hit the man another time.

The man braced for the impact, but fortunately for him, Councilor Brown stopped at the last second, sparing the man in black yet another painful hit.

At this moment, Councilor Brown turned to look at his side as if noticing something.

There, Bryan could be seen lying comfortably in the huge bed, his leg, covered in thick bulging plasters, resting comfortably above a thick pillow.

The next moment, Bryan seemed to have woken up. His brows were furrowed together as if he was in a long bad dream.

"No! Don't!"

Bryan's terrified scream was heard as his eyes snapped open in fright.
