Chapter 27: You’re the One Who Asked Me to Hit You

Once the man stated his work unit, the students sank into a rather strange atmosphere…

Du Wei noticed Qin Guan, since he sat at the first row, and his strange expression. “What is it, student? Have you heard of our department before?”

Qin Guan huffed before he said, “Isn’t that the same as the Strategic Liars Department [1]?”

Right after Qin Guan said this, many students nearly laughed. However, the atmosphere in the classroom was too solemn, so they managed to hold it in.

The corners of Du Wei’s lips twitched. The students who just told the truth actually put him on the spot a little…

Qin Guan was instantly stunned. ‘Isn’t this a fictitious department created by the netizens? Why is there really a department like this?’

Du Wei coughed a little. “The Strategic Liars Department— wait, I mean, the main task of the Strategic Deception and Camouflage Department is interpreting and clarifying various news and rumors. We are also in charge of revealing news in various ways to the public. Our goal is to confuse the eyes on us, provide a cover for the country’s goals, and lead the discussions within the country and outside it. freewebn(o)vel.com

“And I am in the Association of Parapsychology Research and Information Steering, in short, the Parapsychology Association. We are mainly in charge of researching spirits and all discussions related to parapsychology, playing a decisive role in regards to them in the department.”

Qin Guan was dumbfounded. ‘It would have been better if you didn’t explain your association, you know? The more you describe it, the more of a joke you make yourself seem…

‘Besides, steering the direction of discussions, confusing all eyes on you, and providing a cover for the country’s goals? With that explanation, you basically provided a description for the Strategic Liars Department, you know?’

When he saw the incredulous expression on Qin Guan’s face, the man on the podium smiled.

“I know that many of you will have trouble accepting that our department truly exists and is not just a fictional department created by netizens.

“But think about it. As the saying goes, ‘Lie about the truth and mask it as a lie to hide your true power.’ Doesn’t this mean that our job in steering discussions is very successful?”

Qin Guan found it him words so reasonable that he actually had nothing to say in retort…

Indeed, the very important organization had led everyone to believe that they were made up and did not exist. This meant that the department’s deception— no, the abilities of the department in steering discussions was very great…

“Perhaps some of you are rather curious about how the Parapsychology Association is related to you. I can tell you that the connection between us is very great.

“Perhaps you think that there has never been any paranormal events before the appearance of the discs. Now, I am in charge of telling you that this is not the case.

“Paranormal events have always existed, and we of the Parapsychology Association are a specialized department in charge of managing and hiding them from the public eye.”

Qin Guan’s confusion grew the more he listened. ‘What’s going on? Why are we talking about supernatural stuff now? Are we going towards the path of paranormal events or the path of cultivation?’

The other students did not look convinced as well. ‘Excuse you, we’ve been learning materialism all this while, and now you’re telling us everything we learned is in vain?’

Du Wei had expected their reactions. If they had readily accepted his words which basically violated common sense, that would be abnormal…

“I understand your puzzlement. Allow me to ask you one question though: Why is one of the three basic attributes explained to you by your mobile AI systems known as Second Sight?”

Qin Guan was stunned for a moment. He had indeed not considered this question before.

“In truth, this thing they called ‘Spirit’ exists everywhere. Every living thing in this world has spirit. It was the widespread belief shared among our ancestors, but there were many errors in the ‘parapsychology’ of those in the past.

“In the current era, parapsychology is categorized as trash thoughts on the surface, but in fact, all researches on it have been shifted underground. Since most of its researches clash with modern science, the public might panic if we were to release the information we have gathered.

“So, the mission of the Parapsychology Association is to handle the supernatural events and prevent these matters from affecting normal people’s lives so that we can live in a safe environment in which everyone believes in science.

“However, even though some views contradict science, it doesn’t mean that they are not right. Many people have run into things that science cannot explain. You have just obtained your bodies from the trials and received great power, so perhaps you might feel very proud of yourselves and think that all that you know is the truth. But I can assure you, I can prove to you the existence of the supernatural.

As Du Wei spoke, he gestured at Qin Guan. “Student, come to the stage, will you?”

Qin Guan was speechless.

‘I just knew it! Nothing good ever comes from sitting at the first row…’

Qin Guan cursed in his heart. He just knew that Du Wei wanted to take revenge for him saying that he came from the Strategic Liars Department.

Once he stood on the stage, Du Wei raised his hands and turned his palms outwards to face Qin Guan. “Come, try hitting my face.”

While speaking, he changed into the Transcended Gamer’s body. He was an athlete, and his muscles bulged clearly.

Qin Guan did not think that the employee with a normal name and who worked in the Strategic Liars Department would also be a Transcender. Qin Guan then focused his attention and examined the dialog box above Du Wei’s head.

[Lvl 6,32]

That was not all. Qin Guan even saw a faint layer of light on Du Wei’s hands, which was probably the so-called spirit.

Clearly, Du Wei wanted to block Qin Guan’s attack and use the opportunity to prove to the students the existence of spirits.

Qin Guan did not want to do this, but since he had already stepped onto the stage, he could only transform to the useless person.

The entire amphitheater full of students was stunned speechless.

All of them had one thought, ‘I’ve seen students in their uniforms, office workers in their suits, and have also seen athletes before, but I’ve never seen a beggar dressed in rags…

‘Isn’t starting the game this way a little too tragic? Can’t the game even give him a set of clean clothes?’

In truth, everyone could start the game with the useless person, but most people did not even spare it a glance because this character seemed too weak to start the game with…

The girls in the front row blushed when they saw Qin Guan standing half-naked. They instinctively covered their eyes with their hands and peeked through the gaps between their fingers.

Du Wei was also a little surprised. ‘How did I end up picking such a tragic-looking player even though I chose at random? What the heck is going on?’

When he saw how thin and frail Qin Guan was, he started to wonder whether his demonstration would even be persuasive…

The useless person was much weaker than the athlete in terms of strength, and there was a difference in level between Qin Guan and Du Wei. The difference in their figures became even more obvious once they stood next to each other.

“Come.” Du Wei brought up his hands to defend his face.

Qin Guan had never trained in any form of martial arts before, but he had practiced cutting fruits for a long time, so he was very familiar with the process of attacking.

He took a swift step forward, straightened his right hand, pressed his fingers together, and positioned them as if they were a blade. Then, he brought up his hand diagonally up from his lower left to his upper right to attack Du Wei’s chin.

Du Wei was shocked. ‘This angle is really troublesome!’

He quickly brought his left hand up and parried Qin Guan’s knife hand, but he did not expect Qin Guan to immediately close in, clench his left hand into a fist, bypass his right hand from the bottom, and deliver an uppercut to his chin!

Thud!

A loud and clear sound was heard as Du Wei’s head was thrown upwards. He looked a little stunned.

‘What just happened?’

Qin Guan’s strength was not great, so the punch did not deal any damage to Du Wei. It only made him look up.

However, this one move caused the classroom to sink into an incredibly awkward silence…

Du Wei looked at Qin Guan in shock.

Qin Guan looked back at him with an innocent expression. “… You’re the one who asked me to hit you.”
