8 Young Master Feng 2

"Tianyi."

Feng Tianyi turned to the voice with his obsidian eyes, his gaze almost lower in shame as he saw his mother make her way towards him.

"How have you been? " Song Huifen sat across him and crossed her legs. The woman was already past sixty and yet her cold demeanor and royal stance didn't show that she was already at that age.

"Same as always, Mother." Feng Tianyi muttered, refusing to meet the old woman's eyes. "I'm fine."

"No, you are not," Song Huifen scoffed and squinted her eyes on her son. "Do not lie to me, Tianyi."

"I'm not lying, Mother. Please do not waste your time on me," he murmured. His mother had been trying to convince him to go back to Shenzhen with her but he declined her wish every single time.

"You are my son. Looking after you will never be a waste of time for me. Your mother isn't getting any younger, you should know this." Song Huifen hated to see him like this. "I already booked our flight this weekend. Please go back with me." She said helplessly.

What kind of mother was she if she was going to give up on him? Although her husband divorced her to marry his mistress, Song Huifen had never abandoned the child she'd raised alone. However, that didn't mean that she would allow the child of that mistress to get everything that was supposed to be Tianyi's.

"I cannot go with you, Mother. I'm staying here." Feng Tianyi once again refused her. He already lost count on how many times his mother tried to convince him to return to Shenzhen. What was waiting for him there anyway?

"I'm fine," He reassured her knowing that she wouldn't believe him. Even if he didn't say anything, his mother seemed to know what was running in his mind.

"That lie again." Song Huifen's face darkened. "Who are you trying to convince here, Tianyi? Is it me or yourself?" She bit out.

When her son said nothing, she continued. Her son couldn't continue living like this. Of course she knew that his books were selling well and was giving him more than enough income to sustain his lifestyle.

"I don't know why you are sulking in this place. You were told that with a little work you'll be able to walk again and yet you choose to remain bounded on this chair—"

"And hide from the public?" Feng Tianyi finished for her. "I'm already done, Mother. I can never be as good as Father wants me to be. Is this why he'd chosen to pass the company to Tianhua than to give it to me, his firstborn son?"

Song Huifen's lips pressed together in a thin line and looked at her son who had dramatically changed over the past years since his accident.

"That is because you don't have what it takes to to run the company." She bit out.

Her son seemed to have permanent dark circles under his eyes, and his face became gaunt and hollow while his body lost its strength. His eyes became dead and empty. Saved for eating and drinking, Feng Tianyi didn't care about his disheveled appearance anymore.

While it was true that he was his father's firstborn son and had a good grasp of how the business works, Feng Tianhua managed to snatch the company from him because he had the infamous Tang Moyu by his side.

Those who knew about Feng Tianhua and Tang Moyu knew that the only reason why Feng Conglomerate landed in Feng Tianhua's hand was that Tang Moyu paved the way for him. If Tianyi had someone as capable as Tang Moyu on his side, it would be easy for him to destroy Tianhua's chances before.

Wasn't this the reason why she, Song Huifen, took a lot of effort to break the bond between the two? It was just that she didn't expect Feng Tianhua to destroy and blacklist Tang Moyu after their separation.

"Then you don't know what's the situation back in Shenzhen," she scoffed and thanked a maid who had brought a cup of coffee for her. "Feng Conglomerate is in a dire situation. This is the perfect time for you to get back what's rightfully yours," she informed him.

So many things had happened in the past five years. After his accident and Tang Moyu's banishment from the business circle, the Feng empire that was about to flourish, halted. Without Tang Moyu, Feng Tianhua had to face everything on his own, and removing his ex-fiancée only made the investors wary and questioned his capabilities.

Feng Tianyi remained silent and took his mother's words into consideration. Five years in self exile was indeed a long time. So many things can happen in that span of time.

Before his accident, he was a proud and selfish man who didn't care about what people thought of him. He'd been arrogant and ruthless that he'd terrorized the people who worked for him. No wonder some of them helped his half-brother and betrayed him. His accident amplifying his self-loathe and shame on himself.

Three years after Feng Tianhua took over their family business, Feng Tianyi left and started his own company, but it failed after his accident.

"I don't understand." His mother broke the silence between them. "Why are you being like this? I used to think you didn't give a fuck at what people think of you, how come you do now? The only person who thinks you are a failure is yourself."

"The accident shouldn't have happened." He pointed out.

Song Huifen hummed. Although she didn't wish him any harm, she dearly hoped he would at least try to fight for what was his. It was his pride that was stopping him to move forward and start anew.

Instead, he chose to hide himself here and spend sleepless nights writing his books.

"What are you truly seeking? Is this really the kind of life that you want for yourself?" She questioned.

Feng Tianyi remained silent and refused to acknowledge his mother's words although it hit straight at the core. free webno vel

"Tianyi, the only thing that was broken here isn't your body, but your pride. You can walk, you know this but why are you too stubborn to at least give it a try? I'll be back this weekend and I hope you will make up your mind and decide to pick up where you left of."

His mother left an hour later, leaving him alone to think, which weren't new to him. People always leave him behind and whenever he is around, they always try to find an excuse to run away from him.

Should he go back? He never had a reason before, so why would he now?
