In just under twenty-four hours, the news about Feng Tianyi's return to the business world had started to circulate within Shenzhen. He had been inactive for the past five years and some were surprised to hear that he established his own diamond business in a short span of time.
Some of the businessmen had been apprehensive about his return, some sneered at the thought of the devil's return. This was particularly because Feng Tianyi had made several enemies before his disappearance, it was only natural that some people weren't looking forward to seeing him again.
"I understand why you are so eager to return to Qing Tian Group now. You are worrying too much, Tianyi." Song Huifen told her son. Imagine her shock when she woke up that morning, hearing the news of his return to the company.
"It doesn't matter, Mother. Moyu and I have been planning to do this for a while. We understand that there are some things that we needed to address sooner or later." Feng Tianyi explained, crossing his legs on his seat as he checked the current situation at Qing Tian Group.
Tang Moyu only smiled and helped her mother-in-law to sit up on her hospital bed. Although the doctor had given them a green-light to go home as soon as Song Huifen woke up, Feng Tianyi insisted that his mother stayed at the hospital for another day, knowing that she would start working again the moment she arrived home.
"You agreed on his decision, Moyu?" Song Huifen asked the empress. "I thought you are taking a break from work."
"It can't be helped, Mom. Besides, I've been looking forward to officially working at Xiao Xing." Tang Moyu replied. For a workaholic like her, it was difficult for her to stay still at home and do nothing. As Feng Tianyi's wife, she also needed to be supportive of his decision.
"Your uncles aren't looking for me yet?" The empress dowager asked her son. She feared that they would use this chance to strike her down and put the twins' life in danger if they found out about her intention of naming them as her successors.
"No. We made sure that they wouldn't hear about what happened to you yesterday." Feng Tianyi answered her with a slight scowl on his face. His uncles wouldn't waste time to pounce on his mother once they sense a disturbance in her authority.
"That's good." Song Huifen sighed. It was a pity that Tang Moyu would be going on Xiao Xing instead of joining them at Qing Tian Group. She had once wondered if Tang Moyu would be willing to join the Song family once she denied her affiliation with the Tang family.
How can she ignore the great potential the empress had on managing companies? It was no wonder many people had wanted to outsource and hire the empress to save their failing companies.
"I'll be the one who'll do the site inspections this time, Mother. I already asked your assistant to direct some of your appointments to me. You should take this chance to rest." Feng Tianyi said, not giving his mother a chance to contradict his decision.
Since it had come to this, he would make sure that his mother wouldn't have to experience the same thing all over again. He was just lucky that his wife was understanding enough to support his decision to return to work with his mother.
Seeing that her son had firmly decided and Tang Moyu was supporting him, Song Huifen conceded. This had been the first time her son had willingly done something for their family.
To see him like this, far from the carefree son who did whatever he wanted, Song Huifen was happy that Feng Tianyi was finally willing to face the life he'd been trying to deny for years. Tang Moyu had surely influenced her son for the better.
"Fine. Do whatever you want. You better make sure you don't lose the deals I've been working hard on." She paused as she thought about what she would do next. Since Feng Tianyi had decided to take over most of her responsibilities now, she would be able to focus on keeping her brothers at bay.
It hadn't been easy for her to attain the position as the head of the Song family. Back then, it was frowned upon when women led the family, and she fought tooth and nail with her siblings for the position.
She had just recently divorced her husband and needed to gain an upper hand to protect her son's future. Aware that her husband's relationship with Feng Tianyi had hit the lowest when he took in Wang Ruoxi as his wife, Song Huifen had no other choice but to make a backup plan to secure his future with the Song family's support.
"Don't worry, Mother. Moyu has agreed to lend me a hand with it." Feng Tianyi assured his mother. Since he was neither as good as her nor his wife, Feng Tianyi didn't want to allow his pride to get the better of him and had immediately sought his wife's assistance. There was a lot at stake and there was no better person to help him on this other than Tang Moyu.
"But…" Song Huifen wanted to complain that he shouldn't trouble his wife, Tang Moyu decided to chime in on their conversation.
"It's alright, Mom. Tianyi and I have already talked about it and I have no qualms about it. If you are worried that I would leak confidential information, I'm willing to sign an NDA contract as Tianyi's consultant." Tang Moyu told her mother-in-law before taking a seat next to her husband, who was busy reading on his tablet.
Now that she and Feng Tianyi would be busier these days, she wondered what the future had in store for them.
On the other side of town, away from the couple, a woman was lazily cupping her chin and reading the articles about Feng Tianyi's return. Her lips curling into a smile as she thought about the possibility of ensnaring the devil who slipped from her clutches before.
