Chapter 481 - My Very Own Daddy (5)

Lan Yunru wasn't sure what was happening and why Little Star's Uncle Yan was here in their home, standing next to her mommy. They looked at each other as if they had known each other for a long time.

"Mommy?" The little dumpling called after her mother.

Lan Xiyan shared a knowing look with Song Fengyan before she sauntered towards their daughter, who was seated on the bed, staring at them with confusion apparent on her cute face. Lan Xiyan hesitated for a moment, but she knew she couldn't prolong this issue any longer. Her little Yunyun deserved to have a father, even if she and Song Fengyan couldn't be together.

She took a deep breath and mustered all the courage she had at the moment and faced her daughter, who was waiting in silence.

"Yunyun, listen to what will Mommy say first, okay?"

"Okay!" Lan Yunru easily yielded to her mother's request.

Lan Xiyan held her daughter's hand tightly and smiled bitterly.

"Yunyun, didn't you say before you wanted to know about your daddy?" She asked.

The little girl nodded her head. She could still remember that day when she came home with Auntie Yu and asked her mommy why she didn't have a daddy like the other children, but her mommy only said that she would explain it to her later once she was ready.

Did this mean that her mommy was ready to tell her where her daddy was now? What was Uncle Yan doing here anyway? Lan Yunru wondered. Did her mommy need some help from him? Was that the reason why he was still here?

"Well… it's not true that you don't have a daddy, so don't listen to what other children say to you."

"I have a daddy?" Lan Yunru's eyes widened as saucers. So she was right! She really had a daddy of her own!

"But where is he? Why isn't he here with us?" She asked curiously. "He doesn't hate Yunyun, right, Mommy?" Her face fell upon realizing that maybe her daddy didn't want her anymore, that's why he wasn't with them.

Lan Xiyan was taken aback by her daughter's words, while Song Fengyan felt guilty for making his daughter feel like she was unwanted, which wasn't true at all. How many times did he wish that Lan Xiyan hadn't aborted their child? There were so many times when he wished he could hold her in his arms.

"No, Baby. That's not true…" Lan Xiyan's guilt only increased upon seeing her daughter's reaction. Had Yunyun been thinking like this for a long time?

"But…" Lan Yunru didn't know what to think anymore.

"He's not with us because Mommy left with you. Daddy didn't know about our Yunyun until now." Lan Xiyan tried to explain. "It's all Mommy's fault, Yunyun. It's not because of you."

This wouldn't have happened if she wasn't indecisive before. Neither Song Fengyan nor her daughter deserved to suffer like this. This was something she regretted for a long time, but she also understood Song Xingji's reasoning.

Until this day, Lan Xiyan couldn't forget Song Fengyan's broken state when she told him that she aborted their child. She couldn't forget the look in his eyes that night. She was so cruel to him back then, so selfish… so cowardly. Watching him walk away, turning his back on her, still plagues her dreams every night.

People say that time takes away the pain, but it wasn't true for the two of them, because Lan Xiyan realized how wrong she was and hoped she could turn back time to when they were happy being together, but that was impossible.

But most of all, Lan Xiyan regretted taking her daughter's chance to grow up with a father by her side. Where did her choices bring her anyway?

At that time, Song Xingji presented her two choices, and she had chosen the wrong one. Alas, it was too late for her to come back to Song Fengyan out of guilt. She wouldn't blame him if he hated her for all the lies and pain she caused.

"Then where's my Daddy?" The girl questioned her back. "Am I going to meet him? Why's Uncle Yan here anyway?"

"Mommy?" She waited for her mother's explanation.

"Yunyun, your Uncle Yan… he…" She paused and smiled bitterly. "He's your daddy."

"My daddy?" The little dumpling asked in disbelief.

How was it possible that her friend's uncle ended up being her real daddy?!

"Are you sure, Mommy? You aren't lying, are you? Auntie Yu said it's bad to lie." She asked worriedly.

Little Yunru didn't dare to raise her hope up, in fear that she would end being disappointed in the end. In her young mind, if this was her mommy's way to assure her, her mommy shouldn't ask Uncle Yan to pretend as her daddy.

"Yun'er, your mommy is right. She's not lying to you." Song Fengyan chose to chime in at that moment, knowing that the girl might have a hard time accepting the truth.

He also felt that everything was surreal between them. Never, not even in his dreams did he think that he would be able to meet and hold his child one day. So for him, to get a chance to see and hold her was already too much for his heart to handle.

"Uncle Yan, is really my daddy?" Lan Yunru asked again, staring wide eyed to Song Fengyan.

"En." Song Fengyan reaffirmed. He got worried when he saw the little girl's lips quivered and her eyes brimmed with tears. He panicked and looked at Lan Xiyan for help, but even the latter was at a loss for words as their daughter started to cry.

"Daddy!" Lan Yunru cried out, leaving both of her parents speechless from her sudden outburst.

Song Fengyan moved closer and picked up his crying daughter.

"Hush, darling. Daddy won't leave you again."
